Couldn't find anything online about a good spot. Buffalo Wild Wings is close to where I am living for the time being, but I'd rather not hang out there. Thanks.
Also, love this town. Can't believe I waited this long to get out of NY !
rented a place down here while our place in NY is for sale. Once sold, it's time to house shop. The place in Westover Hills is called The Forest. I found that online, but it sure looks like a dump and apparently they allow smoking inside. I don't care if people want to smoke...I just dont want to breathe it in. Anyway, I'll have to scout out some of these places. I'll certainly watch the Monday, Sunday and Thursday night games from home. Thanks for the input.
Vibe, if you're ever in the Far West End looking for something to eat there's an awesome hole in the wall place on Patterson called European Taste. It's run by a older Romanian couple, and the food is very good and dirt cheap. They get the best reviews on Yelp I've ever seen. Link - ( New Window )
Well it seems like there are a fair amount of board members in Richmond, so i'll post if I think or confirm that I have found a good spot to watch the Sunday @ 1 or 4 games. Thanks for the input all.
yeah, if you're in the bottom you might as well stay there or head to the fan. SP is a chain store/chain restaurant/traffic mess on the weekends.
if you like really good craft beer check out Mekongs. a dude from my HS owns it. its near willow lawn (much shorter cab ride for you). this doesn't help you with the giants games though.

Since we've gotten good Indian down here, we hardly go out that way to eat anymore. But I do love older Romanians….thank you.
I believe the poster Greg is referring to still posts here, just under a different handle. Maybe he'll see this.
Back when I did go the bars for Giants games, I always found some Giants fans stragglers, but we were rarely enough to warrant the sound up. I did stick pretty much to The Fan (mostly Mulligans…now Post Bellum), though, so thin sample size.
I guess it was an odd detail, just that it's kind of interesting that the place is run by a couple and pretty much no one else. Occasionally there's another guy there waiting tables but usually it's just the two of them.
Heh. No worries. It didn't across anything like, say, the Israeli Computer shop owner. I just hadn't read the reviews yet, so it was all I had.
The reviews really are stellar. Interesting, to, that it takes a handful or so before you get someone from RVA reviewing it. But I guess it's a natural area for visitors to stay.
If you've ever been to Rare Olde Times, it's in that same rundown strip mall at the corner of Pump and Patterson. There have been a bunch of little restaurants that came and went in that same spot, never staying for long, so locals probably paid it no mind. Hell, *I* never would have looked twice at that place if someone I knew didn't rave about the place.

I shared the reviews with the wife-ish and she was really impressed and interested. (Neither of which is easy to accomplish. She's friends with the woman who, until a couple of weeks ago, was the RTD restaurant critic. Meaning, has a high standard.) We may even get out there this weekend. Thanks again for the rec.
Back in the day, many moons ago after first moving to Richmond from NY, I worked at O'tooles. I can't say enough good things about John, Tom and old man Jim.
I was a frequent visitor of The Forest who were dually owned by Pittsburgh/Philly fans. Also, I can't say enough good things about them either. Back then, mid 90's, the food in that place was some of the best cheap food in the whole city. Homemade everything. Bread/rolls brought down bi- weekly from Philly. Homemade pierogies from Pittsburgh. Just a great place.
Now, this was before the expansion with the outside seating and it truly is a small, small venue. Not a great place to watch games as the TV's are small and it is impossible to watch more than two games at once- unless of course they placed some sets over the bar itself. I haven't been in there for over a decade and with the new owners, I don't know about the food.
Greg, my fav pizza in Richmond is Capriccio on W. Broad and for steak, Buckheads on Patterson. Ever go in there?
As to the OP, I live in Midlothian so if I have to go out, Sports Page ( great food), Baileys ( fing sucks), Diamond Billiards ( great TV's, nobody goes in there to watch games0 and a new place that opened up late last fall- Game On which is supposed to be decent, are all near by.
A cab ride from downtown to short pump will easily run you $20 each way. Don't bother with that. Stay close to home and a word to the wise, watch your back after drinking in Downtown Richmond. When the sun goes down, the hoodlums come out. Be very, very careful walking around down there.
regardless, I'm not sure where to go for a dedicated giants bars. if there was more than one or two I'd be surprised.
It's a good question though as I might be looking for a place to watch a few games.
Oh, and I am a Hokies fan. My dad went to Tech.
You're not going to want to go all the way out to Short Pump from the Bottom. Home Team Grill in the Fan is probably your best bet from there.
You'd be better off at BWW in the Bottom or HTT in the Fan.
Like vibe's living room.

Wait... there's a town called Short Pump? No wonder it's the happiest city in America!

Be warned, it is a regulars / dive bar -- but that's also what makes it great!
Home Team Grill in the Fan
Another regulars place, but not a dive bar. There is usually at least one Giants fan there at the bar... cant remember his name.
There is at the forest. I'll see you there Monday night for the Lions game though.
Southside Mulligan's is still open ..I don't think it's owned by the same folks that owned the main st one.

It sounds like a really humble Stella's. (Give or take Greece.)
