It's entirely possible that Jernigan will be utilized more in this offense even with Cruz on the field. He's yet to show enough this pre-season and it's clear there's a split on him both amongst fans and even within the organization. He clearly needs to earn his spot but I haven't entirely lost faith in him.

I'm going to give it the rest of camp until cuts have to be made. Because if he has a good game Friday, a post like this might seem a little less rational.

Even then, this is his fourth year. Based on Barden and Sinorice, he'd get at least four anyway even without Mara's backing.

What do you want in a back up? Someone has to back him up. When Cruz went down last year, JJ did rather well, getting open, making catches and moving the chains. Ok so he's not Cruz. There is no shame in play behind VC.

One of our better receivers, reliable and productive? I want some of what he is smoking.

Will be a solid player for us this year. He was not properly utitilized until late in the season and when he finally got a chance he played pretty well. I think that was a product of the offense we were running.

I think he will fit in much better in a modern day offense. Since college he has reminded me of a poor mans Percy Harvin (Except less injuries) and he finally showed that last year. He is a guy that we need to get the ball to in space. Bubble screens, swing passes, handoffs. He is extremely fast and his COD is very smooth. I know our season was finished by the time he started playing, but there really isn't many slot WRs who would beat out Victor Cruz. Against the Skins he had nearly 150 yards a rushing & receiving TD. In those 3 games he was targeted 27 times and had 19 catches. That should earn him a roster spot for this season.

Nobody can say Marcus Harris or Corey Washington are better as they have done absolutely nothing in a real NFL game against #1 defenses.

He has been the best starting WR not only in preseason but since he was given a chance to play.

He's a terrible punt return option but he's one of out better and most important offensive players.

It's been a short (I know, he's 5-8, no pun intended. Haha.) 5 years.

His body of work as an NFL slot receiver is actually better than Jernigan's, and he offers more on special teams - especially if Charles James doesn't claim the punt return job. He's not the home run threat Jernigan should be, but he's adequate in a wider variety of roles.

If he is not going to at least be the guy who comes in and plays the slot in 3-WR or 4-WR packages, you should not keep him over the other young WRs.

He is in year 4 of a 4 year contract. His agent will make sure he is somewhere else next year if there is any interest at all. So he offers no upside developmental potential to the Giants. This assumes that Harris and Washington have shown enough for the coaches to believe that they do have developmental potential.

He make be a good slot receiver in this League, but it is not happening for the Giants.

He's entering his 4th year.

Cruz - "should be an All-Pro this year..."

Randle - "break out year..."

Jernigan - "Mara was right about this guy..."

Harris - "should be starting..."

Washington - "reminds me of Plaxico..."

Parker - "no way they keep JJ over him"

Manningham - "can't believe Giants ever let him go..."

Talley - "continues to flash, needs reps with #1s"
