"It was Brandon McManus‘ turn to kick today and he went 3-of-4. What once looked like a real competition now appears anything but. Coughlin was asked if it would be tough to make the kicker choice and his response said it all: 'I hope so.'"
Does that mean that McManus has not been consistent enough? That he is running away with the job? That neither kicker has been that good?
I thought the kicking competition was still close, so this blurb makes me suspect I have missed something.

Lol. I didn't get it either....WTF is he saying? From what I've heard, McManus has been good, and has a very strong leg.

can lead to some bad misses (or a string of misses), like McManus, who has no significant real experience, you have to be as good, or better, than the incumbent.
A big leg is shiny and fancy, but consistency from 45 and in is what really matters. And Brown is, right now, better at this.
McManus improved tremendously from last year, but he still needs to work on his technique.
I think Brown has been making his kicks at practice Â
I also caught this at the end of Connor's game report, which helps goes in the same direction as what you are both saying: "As much as super-legged Brandon McManus intrigues, I don’t see anyway he makes the Giants 53-man roster. It was Josh Brown’s spot to lose, and he’s done nothing to lose it."
take punts. Randle is awful and they're not going to risk Cruz as a returner.
You watch - with no one stepping up, injuries to ODB and Holliday a risk not making the roster, Randle will be out there fielding punts against Detroit in game 1.
We will have gone 365 days and not improved one of the more glaring weaknesses on the team from last year one bit.
There were some sports reporters talking the other day about this competition but they didn't get into that level of detail. Just spoke about his big leg and inexperience.

Brown running away with job. McManus has been consistently inconsistent :)
smile Beckham always does is really annoying when he isn't even practIcing or playing.
Yeah, no smiling allowed!
BBI has lost it.
Lol..as soon as I opened the report and saw that smile I wanted to give him the biggest slap ever... then i would pull him in for a hug and tell him I did that cause we care about him, and need him to stop fkng around and get out there.
RE: RE: RE: Prince got in on seven games at the end of the 2011 regular season. Â
The rest is history. Sure would be nice if history repeated itself with OBJ.
yeah, Prince had 12 tackles. I'm sure when we roll back the 2014 tape and if ODB has 12 catches we will have had a successful season.
Do really measure a CB's impact by how many tackles he's made?
can you be this stupid? Consider that it's a compliment to even say that Prince had 12 tackles his rookie year should pretty much tell you all you need to know about how effective he was as a rookie.
Prince appeared in seven regular season games, plus the playoffs. Â
He did not start in any of them. He had 14 tackles (12 solo), three PDefs, and one INT. He also got a ring at the end of the year.
You said, re Beckham, "no one wants to admit the obvious. He's trending like Prince did, and if it's any blueprint, by the time he shows up it will be too late."
If by "too late" you mean winning a Super Bowl, we can only hope.
Steve Smith missed eleven regular season games as a rookie. Â
But by the time he showed up, he became an integral part of our 2007 championship run. There's a blueprint for you.
Very good point! If Beckham does have a healing tear in his hamstring we have no choice but to ease him along. I would not rush him and have him tear it. It is disappointing to see he has missed camp but lets make the best of it.
But you don't draft with September of that same year in mind. You draft with the next 3-4 years in mind. Let's hold off on burying the beckham pick for just a little longer ok thanks.
Jernigan, James, Hosley...this could actually make you valuable enough to keep so step up.
Does that mean that McManus has not been consistent enough? That he is running away with the job? That neither kicker has been that good?

His follow through torques his body a bit more (from his days at Temple), so that it puts movement on the ball.
At this rate, is really playing Friday night and will he be ready for the opener?

Ask TC, and you will feel his wrath
talk about ODB on BBI, get called a troll

Yeah, no smiling allowed!
BBI has lost it.
Aaron Donald, Jordan Matthews, and Zack Martin are all busts

think about this:
today is tuesday
game is friday
theyve already decided he wont play on friday by today.
for a guy who practiced YESTERDAY, to be immediately ruled out friday, IS THE EXACT DEFINITION OF SETBACK

This is happening just because of injuries FYI
