If this has been brought up I will delete.
Do others find it very odd that in todays training camp NFL, where all these restrictions are put on practice and contact (lack there of) that the Giants mix and match OL with the 1st team so often.
Why do we read so much about guys playng with the 1st team or seconds in terms of snaps. This needs to be the most cohesive unit. Why would they just not put the 5 guys together they think are best and practive that way. How do you expect to build a cohesive unit if the same 5 do not get most reps in practice.
If they do not get most snaps together in practice, no wonder they are not on the same page in the game
Anyone else think this is an issue
Beatty, right now, is our 2nd best OL and he was horrible last year, coming off a very bad injury.
Personally, assuming health, I see the opening day lineup as follows:
QB: Eli
LT: Beatty
LG: Richburg (yup, surprise)
OC: Walton
RG: Schwartz
RT: Pugh
WR: Cruz
WR: Randle
RB: Jennings
FB: Hinosoraus
TE: Davis
K: Brown (veteran wins it)
Everyone else is a question mark as to where they should play. It's week 4 in preseason and we still havent figured it out.
well said...
Why Jerry refuses to see this and do something about it is beyond me. Could JR really be this stupid? I'd like to think not but when I look at his horrible neglect of the O-line to get it in the disgraceful shape it is currently in...well...maybe he is.
I was upset about the Odel pick at number 1 because we should have went o-line. But seeing how good Odel is I figured maybe it was not that bad at all. Now that JR knows he can't count on Snee, Beatty, Brown, Jerry, or Brewer and clearly that gamble he took during the draft didn't work he needs to do something.
So...admit the mistake and fix it. Trade a good player in an area where we have solid depth and fix the damn oline. If we are forced to run the season with the offensive line players we have now we are dead and we won't even get a good test of McAdoo's new offense cuz no offense will work with this line.
I was anxious to see this new offense but with this line, if it doesn't work, we certainly can't blame anything on McAdoo.
