The only healthy backstory have are McCoy and Sproles. They're pretty thin at WR at the moment too.
Maybe I'm being biased, maybe Kelly is just that good and will adjust, but I just can't see that offense marching up and down the field the way they did last year. McCoy (and the running game in general) may have gotten the heavy workload last season, but it was the threat of Jackson over the top that helped open so many running lanes. Without that threat teams won't be forced to play 5 DBs as a base. Hell, look at the Giants. They now have the corners to go one on one on with any Philly wideout, outside or in the slot. That can leave another LBer on the field or allow the safeties to cheat up instead of giving themselves a cushion.
Again, I'm probably being biased, but I think the Philly O is going to plummet back to earth this year.
Maclin is back, but he's back from a 3rd knee ligament tear (2 acl's and an mcl I think), and he's already left several practices in recent weeks with hamstring issues. Maclin doesn't scare me.
Visions of athletically average receivers struggling to separate from man coverage. Visions of 3 LBers on the field on first and second down. Visions of Rolle and Brown cheating up to the line of scrimmage with no fear of anyone getting behind them.
You have to assume they'll continue to be successful until they aren't, but you can definitely make the argument that they're ripe for a letdown.
Eagles finding solutions before it becomes too late.
Trade for Boone.
Solutions? Do you know anything about the Eagles current roster situation or Barner's history? This is a camp body brought in solely bc he's familiar with Kelly and his whole program. This guy isn't going to be on the opening day roster, and its really dumb to suggest the Eagles are somehow staying ahead of the curve by bringing him in. Even worse is using it to support a trade for Boone. That's turrible. Just turrible...

I have visions about TRex on and island with a bunch of mercenaries who can't get the job done, causing our QB to make mistakes and create turnovers.

When did I say the Giants were without their concerns? They might be a 6-7 win team. But that's not what this thread is about. It's about the Eagles injury depleted skill positions and a minor transaction made just to get a body at the facility. You in turn suggested it was some kind of savvy roster move that will pay them dividends down the line. If that weren't enough, you them draw a parallel to the Giants OL and flippantly suggest trading for Boone like it's a video game, with no consideration for what he will cost to say nothing of what the Niners will want in compensation a talented, versatile lineman in his prime within the conference.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but those two little sentences in your op are just a mess.
Philly traded away Bryce Brown. He was a good back.
People can talk about Kelly's system all they want, and who knows, maybe they don't skip a beat. But looking at it now, the Eagles willingly parted ways with more offensive talent than they brought in.

I expect a sophmore slump as well. For one, the Eagles were incredibly healthy last year. For two, no Jackson. For three, I think our defense matches up with them now and therefore I just think we have a shot we can beat them twice.
coming out of Oregon. I thought there was more RB upside to him than former Duck LaMichael James. I've watched him when the opportunity was there and I still think he can make an impact, with the perfect spot being Philly.
The familiarity of the system and coach are obvious. But Barner is a similar-styled player to McCoy and Bryce Brown. He's really quick in traffic, a hard guy to touch. He doesn't run away from defensive backs but he accelerates at the snap of a finger. He doesn't plow over linebackers, but he san slip through arm tackles. He doesn't catch the ball like a WR but he can be trusted in space running quick routes and seeing the ball in to his hands. I'm not sure how much he can be counted on to pass block.
I think Barner has a legit shot here to make the squad and at the very least be the primary backup should McCoy go down. The backfield will be a McCoy/Sproles show, but PHI upgraded their offense with this move.
"Kenjon Barner was reportedly "overmatched by nearly every linebacker and defensive back he lined up against" during Panthers camp.
Barner added 15 pounds during the offseason, but still couldn't become adequate as a pass blocker. If he sticks with the Eagles, it will be largely due to his ability to contribute in the return game. Barner fell behind Fozzy Whittaker in Carolina and was going to get cut. Note that the Eagles won't even have to give up that seventh-round pick to the Panthers unless Barner is on the 46-man active roster for at least four games this season."
doesn't sound like a steal...sounds like he will be lucky to make the team...
They found a diamond in the rough. Maybe they did, most likely they did not. He had 8 carries for 8 yards in his first preseason game and and I think none in second. He was on his way to getting cut. They gave Carolina a conditional 7th in case another team took a flier on him. In most situations, this would be a virtual non event. But, because the genius picked him up, he knows things others don't. So, this was the move of the century.

Well not necessarily, given that it seems to be working out well for him so far.
