It fails as a tablet, as its too big and heavy to be used conveniently as a mobile device. There's also a very large gap in supported tablet apps, especially if you're coming off of an iPad. You are likely going to be missing some stuff you use day-to-day that isn't (and likely will never) be there.
As a laptop, its too expensive for what you get and you can probably get better bang for your buck in a Win 8 machine with a Lenovo Yoga (if you want the conversion factor), a "normal" laptop with better specs, etc.
If you really are emphasizing the laptop portion and have mobility in that specific realm as your top priority, I can see it making sense (though there's better value out there). I had one for work as a test run to see if we were going to adopt (consulting firm) and I traded it back in for a standard issue Lenovo ThinkPad. Its a slick device, just not a very useful one in most settings.
