With Beatty still rehabbing from a fractured leg suffered in the final game of the regular season, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Beatty will be limited to 20 snaps in the team’s preseason matchup with the New York Jets on Friday. All other starters will play close to 30. That leaves 10 snaps where the new-look offensive line may get some playing time together.
Won't be a huge sample, but getting live reps with Pugh at LT is something many here have been clamoring for.
It's only happening because Brown and Brewer are hurt Â
Schwartz may not be a good RT, but he has to be better than Brown and Brewer, and Schwartz and Pugh may be better than Pugh and Beatty, based on the way Beatty has been going.
We still have this much figuring to do on the OLine and WRs. People keep bringing up the new offense and time to pick up on it but the truth is there was a ton of turnover in terms of personnel and that has to be worked out also. I'm not optimistic about this offense, but I can say we need to be patient and can't put too much on what we see in the Preseason. Things could look a lot different come week 1, or even week 3 for that matter,

It will take a while..... I am thinking week 6+.
The contempt for Will Beatty from some fans is just weird. Â
It's not as though the guy he replaced was Jonathan Ogden, Walter Jones and Orlando Pace rolled into one Hall of Fame left tackle. He was David freaking Diehl. Beatty's a better pass blocker than Diehl ever was.
If the Giants put decent talent around him at TE and LG, a healthy Beatty is more than adequate. Barring a medical setback, he certainly isn't losing his job to Geoff Schwartz, and he's at least a year away from losing it to Justin Pugh.

He's certainly better than Diehl was in the final 2-3 years of career, but Diehl did a fantastic job for us for a long time.

The only thing mentioned in the article was him playing Right Tackle.
His time at RT for Chiefs was a train wreck. I think this would be a real bad move
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This. Although I agree that his time at RT in KC was awful. Maybe we'll see more of Gaines.
He was a starting lineman for 3 years.
Give him a chance with the seconds.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Although, preseason against the dirty Jets is probably the worst time to try it.
