since 1996 is the most valuable franchise in the NFL followed closely by another team that has been terrible for much of the past 20 years.
Dallas and Washington...is there something wrong with this picture?
The world is upside down...rewarding failure!
Also, wouldn't 20 years of mediocrity put their fan base in jeopardy? I guess not or is that just the juggernaut that is the NFL?
It's not that surprising.
Knicks, Cowboys, Redskins, Leafs are all at or near the top of the value rankings because they generate the most revenue.
No. It will still be a NFL franchise.
And if that were to happen, Snyder would eventually give in, change the name and have a whole bunch of new shit to sell. Which would be a nice little windfall for just doing the right thing.
Normally a trademark has value because the mark is recognizable and associated with quality. So "Coke" is valuable because some material percentage of people who walk into a store and see "Coke", "Mystery Soda A", and "Mystery Soda B" will pick "Coke" based on previous use of the product or good advertising/word of mouth. Team name trademarks strike me as very different -- more about looks and fandom, less about allowing the consumer to differentiate between substitutable products.
Also, any current valuation should already be taking into account the possibility of a loss of trademark or name change. I'd assume that on resale the name will change.
The old giants stadium is torn down and jersey taxpayers are still paying for it. think about that one for a moment.
If he was a poor, they'd call him a welfare queen. But since he's rich, it's "great businessman".
