Steelers @ Eagles

Ryans just got hit for a personal foul on a vicious hit on Bell which I think is bullshit. He didn't lower his head. It wasn't helmet to helmet. It was a bang bang play where Bell missed the catch and immediately after he got hit.

Ben still had a very good year last year behind a dreadful line.

Eli? Not so much.

And I'm not a "Ben is so much better" guy, but.. if I were a Steeler fan, I wouldn't be concerned about the QB position at all. We should be.
I wasn't talking about one season, though,

I was talking big picture... and I think robbie was, too.
Like that..

That play right there is a sack for us.

It's a TD for PIT

You've always been such a positive poster but lately you have been so doom and gloom towards Eli, and I can't argue it but it's sad.
Sanchez looks really good

Like a totally different QB in this system. I guess Ryan must really be the really crappy head coach I always thought he was.

Kind of sucks for us it means Chip Kelly is that good a coach.

I was thinking the same thing. Hope I'm wrong about that.
Even though Maclin is OK,

that's now a hamstring tweak and a knee incident that was temporarily very painful so far this preseason for him.

I can't imagine the Eagles will get 16 games out of him this year.
Sean..

It's actually the first time I've really ever been down on Eli.

It's not all his fault. A lot of it has to do with me not having much faith in this offensive line and I just don't see Eli succeeding at this juncture without adequate pass protection. Some guys like Luck, Rodgers or Ben aren't "scrambling" QB's, but they are mobile and they have really good feet. Guys like that can sometimes overcome bad pass protection by buying themselves time. They've got very good footwork. Rodgers is especially incredible at throwing absolute darts right on the money from weird angles while he's running. Eli just doesn't have that skill set.

What's alarming me now is that although Eli was never a mobile guy, at his best, his pocket presence and footwork seemed much more sound. He was sensing the rush, keeping his composure, stepping up into a spot where he could make his throw and getting it out. Now I see him getting panicked, I see a lot of bad, rushed throws and I see him bailing a lot faster than he used to. There are just a lot of signs that make me very concerned.

That said, it is Eli Manning. I know better than to count him out so I'm not shutting the book on him right this second. I am just fairly worried. I'd like to just see a few plays out of him tomorrow night. I don't care if we win or lose the game. I just want the 1's to show some cohesion and execute the basics. I'd feel at least somewhat relieved if they did. If not? Things will probably be pretty ugly in Detroit.

We will see.

always a mistake to overemphasize the preseason, but the Eagles look damn good.

I have not gone back and re-watched the defense. I simply haven't had time this week.
I hate the eagles, but if their OL

Stays healthy, they have a great chance to win it all.
Gosh I despise the Eagles

It's depressing how quickly Chip Kelly has taken a 4-12 team into a damn good team. They turned it around fast.

Yeah, he looks to be the real deal, and his team is buying into it.

I love what they did with Jackson. Made an example.
Please

Chip Kelly is a good coach, but if that Oline stayed healthy in 2012, the Eagles would never have been near 4-12. I think they could win a Super Bowl but is because their Oline is so damn good. If that changes, like it did in 2012, they will be a 4-6 win team.
one thing
MookGiants : 8/21/2014 11:44 pm : link
people always forget when it comes to Chip Kelly is they always fail in the big spot. They did many times at Oregon, their offense cost them the game against Auburn, they blew games they had no business losing to cost them title shots like in 2012. Last year they lost at home in the playoffs to a Saints team that never wins on the road in cold weather.

And lousy in Games 1 and 2, particularly on defense.

They have depth issues, so they better stay healthy like they did last year.
