it was the night before MNF kick off vs Detroit on BBI,
not a creature was stirring not even someone complaining about Jerry Reese's draft decisions in the past 4 years, but that's not what I'm saying!
The TE situation ROSE all off season long...Ebron they say? Nope. He'll be lining up against Rolle and the boys come week 1.
vent here: What do you think about Donnell being the starting TE? What has he shown you that you do like and you don't like? Any chance that Kellen Davis will be the #2 TE with Robinson gone?? Will this team take 3 tight ends??
All in all, i just hope we survive these next two weeks and hopefully the season will get here SOON and the summer will be long gone gone gone. I want FOOTBALL.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
and that's me saying it in the most diplomatic way possible.
Unfortunately though, Fells, Davis and Robinson could all say the exact same thing and be correct.
Just start the guy that blocks the "least worst" and go from there...
As long as Donnell can block I am ok with him starting and maybe being targeted some. I'd also love to see Robinson line up on a few 3rd and longs and be targeted down the seem. I think this kid has ability catching the ball that exceeds any other TE on the roster by far.
Make sure, of course, that the Colts 3rd String Defense is in the game though...
yes, he can. myers would've been a much better TE in the WCO. he stunk as a blocker, but at least he was a good route runner and pass catcher. we could've utilized him nicely in this offense.
none of these guys are particularly good at anything. some can run and catch a little, some can block a little.
Bromley, according to the Giants Roster, weighs 306 lbs. and runs the 40 in 5.03, 40 lbs. heavier and just a little slower.
IMO Donnell would be the slowest starting TE in the entire NFL.
I don't feel so good.
Donnell has played a whopping 100 regular season snaps.
Robinson has played 3 snaps
I tend to agree they stink, but to say they're worse than Myers is projection.
I think it's hard to be worse than Myers. He couldn't block, so maybe you look past that in the WCO, but he had average at best hands, zero toughness, zero awareness, and tipped a lot of passes that wound up picked off.
If Donnell starts at TE it's addition by subtraction to me.

Big thing Donnell woudl have over Myers is size. You can stay with a big target, but are you actually 'covering' him.
Donnell doesnt have to get open per say, but does have to be able to catch over smaller cover guys.
While he didn't run like Vernon Davis, he was able to separate.
there's no question that Brandon Myers is an accomplished receiver. he caught 80 passes in 2012. you don't do that if you have "average" hands for a TE in the NFL.
he caught 47 passes for us last year. basically what i'm saying is that he would've done a lot better than that this year in this offense, and he'd have done a lot better than anyone on our roster now in terms of pass catching, which is the central role of the TE in the WCO.
the blocking is another issue and frankly i'm not convinced that any of the TEs we have are good enough blockers to impact the game.

maybe it's semantics, accomplished receiver vs average hands. You watched him for 16 games, did you see him making any above average catches? He caught the passes he was supposed to make. The ones that looked difficult he got hands on but didn't bring in. Many of them were picked off. I call that average. If you call that accomplished receiver ok.
his next broken tackle will be his first.
the guy was terrible. Maybe something worked for him in 2012, but in 2013 on the Giants he was part of the problem, not a solution.
As for 2014, I'm glad we won't find out what he'll do in this offense.
Ballard at 275 lbs. and Donnell at 265 lbs.
Ballard a very good blocker and Donnell hit-or-miss (mostly miss).
When Ballard caught the ball, he ran with it; when Donnell catches it, he's either out-of-bounds or falls down.
Donnell makes Ballard look like Mark Bavaro.

Donnell has less than 100 snaps. I hate to draw conclusions that soon. Maybe he sucks, I've not claimed otherwise, but I'm not sad to see him in place of Myers even if he does.
But unfortunately he still could be the best we have. He is at least tied for first with 4 other guys...
Anger and fear are great adrenalin sources, maybe the other TEs will get the message.
