Assuming he didn't tear his hamstring, as crazy as this may sound, I'd still be inclined to put Grimble on the PS. You can always waive him from it later, and we do have two extra spots. Our TE situation is terrible, and he did have some success at USC.

It's been a long, long time.

He fielded some punts on Wednesday, but he's been out a long time.

I had visions of Holliday returning kickoffs for TDs and being used on bubble screens by McAdoo... oh well.
biggest surprises/disappointments for the Giants this preseason
Andy in Boston : 8/22/2014 4:57 pm : link
that they really didn't have much control over.

1) The departure of Will Hill
2) Chris Snee retiring
3) David Wilson retiring
4) Odell Beckham's hamstring and not practicing
5) Lack of production from C. Brown, Holliday ...2 of their FA acquisitions that were supposed to help a little...C. Brown with depth on the line and Holiday with the return game. They've gotten nothing from them.
6) Cooper Taylor's injury.

All of this hurts....these are all players that were really supposed to help this team.
Thanks Eric...

Very very disappointing signing.

it's a sure bet they are on their way to the waiver wire.

Preston Parker, Harris, and Washington seem to have taken jobs from MM, and Holiday.

Because you pay closer attention to the New York Giants.

Falcons fans, for instance, feel like the Falcons have to deal with more than anyone else. And so on...

Andy.. because we put our own team under the microscope and know about every single player in camp to some degree. We don't know nearly as much about other teams and don't follow them nearly as closely.

It's not a Giants-specific thing. It's just a frustrating nature of the sport.

Andy, and another thought(on top of vibe and arc's)is we get info thrown at us so quickly.

Someone starts limping in practice and 10 reporters at tweeting it before the guy makes it to the sidelines. Then we have all the time in the world to discuss what terrible pox has befallen him before we find out its nothing and he is back practicing.

Seems like all we talk about are injuries and after awhile you start thinking that's all there is.
And I may be an idiot(okay, I know I am when it comes to footballl)...
okiegiant : 8/22/2014 5:14 pm : link
but I had high hopes Hillis was going to show something in this offense.

Unfortunately, all he has shown is a slow first step and plodding speed(oh, plus an injury).

Excellent points. I have often pondered how great this secondary would be with a healthy, clear headed Will Hill. Also, we'd have carried five safeties if Cooper Taylor had not been hurt. The injury / retirements to Snee and Wilson hurt too. I had hoped the surgery would have given him another year or two of serviceable play. I had also hoped Wilson could catch short passes with his speed and return KO's like a monster again. Alas, this is football and injuries happen.

LOL
If Holiday is healthy by opening night I
Dry Lightning : 8/22/2014 5:38 pm : link
would not cut him. You need explosive game changing players. We have one proven one in Victor Cruz. We have an unproven one in Odell Beckham. Holiday is a proven threat that has had fumbling issues. Keep him on this roster. You gotta have game changers. Why the fuck do we need him in the preseason. He is one of the best return men in the game.
Charlie Brown's lack of production is a surprise to whom?
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/22/2014 5:39 pm : link
He was cut for being awful from New Orleans.

Trindon Holliday is like 5 foot 8 and has done nothing as a WR. As a special teamer, he's a shorter Willie Ponder: breathtaking speed, fumbler.

Very disappointed in Holiday
micky : 8/22/2014 5:44 pm : link
We'll never see action from him in a giants uni. It's a shame

Trindon Holliday isn't 5' 8" standing on top of his helmet. he's lucky if he's 5' 5".
he's also not at all like Ponder

A great deal? I don't know about that. There are some very defense minded posters who wouldn't mind him as our coordinator, but that's about the extent of it

Most people here realize the guy is a clown who runs his mouth way too much.

year. Not even seriously, but just threw it around and pointed out (rightly) that he's a very good defensive mind.

Not as HC over Coughlin, at least not since 2011.
The problem with the Coughlin quote is certain posters...
okiegiant : 8/22/2014 7:14 pm : link
like to use it a little out of context.

The quote was a shot(if you will)about players not wanting to work hard and using any excuse to get out of practice. If you followed those teams closely you might agree Coughlin had somewhat of a point with a handful of players.

No coach, no matter how hard he tries, can stop players from pulling hamstrings and having career ending neck injuries.

If you believe this is the kind of injury Coughlin was talking about you're simply wrong.
