ESPN’s Keith Law spoke very highly today of Mets 20-year-old 2B prospect Dilson Herrera in an online chat.
Herrera is capable of becoming an above average, every-day, big-league second basemen, and maybe more, he revealed in his weekly chat. He continued, saying “If he ended up on a few All-Star teams, I wouldn’t be shocked.”
Depends on how much it would take to get an extension and what kind of deal other teams are willing to make. I wouldn't move Murphy just for the sake of making a trade.

Murphy while his value is high?

Of course not, but as we all know the Mets have two major holes (assuming all others return healthy).
LF and SS and that doesn't mean other spots can't be upgraded.
But if the Mets can play a 21 year old at 2B and trade their all-star 2B for a LF or a SS how is that making a trade for the sake of making a trade.
It's making a trade to better the team. Just not sure anyone values Murphy that much even though he's kind of underrated.
A SS may be more likely but again, who is out there? Murphy for Brad Miller is giving up too much. I'd deal Murphy in a heartbeat for Chris Owings but I doubt Arizona would do it (don't want Didi G. at all).
I could see Murphy being moved for a package of younger players, whether they'd be ready to contribute to the big leagues yet who knows.
has murphy been placed thru waivers?
I think the shoulder injury has sapped his power
I think his poor numbers are a combination of two things. Injury and mechanics. I know that Wright-bashers like to say "Well, he had an MRI and it came out negative..so you can't blame it on injury." The funny thing is, you don't go around getting MRIs for the hell of it. There had to be something going on for DW to get an MRI. He also NEVER blames injuries so you won't here him talking about it.
And then there's mechanics. DW has said himself that he screwed up his own mechanics because he was in a little slump. Instead of waiting it out, he tinkered with his approach so much that he basically forgot what his approach was when he was hitting well. So much of it sounds like it's in his head, plus I'm willing to bet everything that he's been battling injuries nearly the entire season.
Either way, I don't think this is some deep decline. I think he will be fine next season assuming that he's healthy.
Mets Affliation with 51s might continue one more season. No other options available at this point.#Mets #51s
It's not that hard to look up. Wright's back injury was 2011.
We all know that David was pretty damn good before the back injury. Crazy good.
2011 was a weird year. Didn't start out well. Broke his back in the middle of May and was out for more than two months. Came back on fire for 10 games and then flamed out for August and September.
2012 and 2013 Wright was back to putting up his usual numbers. In fact, if Wright didn't hurt his hamstring, last season may have been one of his best. He hit 18 HRs in only 112 games (he hit 21 HRs through 156 games the year prior). He would have well surpassed his HR total from the previous season had he not been out for so many games last year and I wouldn't have to sit through people bitching and moaning about how he doesn't hit HRs anymore.
I don't think his back injury is or has been a factor outside of 2011. Clearly it didn't hurt him in the two seasons after the back injury. However, I firmly believe his shoulder has killed this season for him. I just hope it's nothing serious.
Accept it...
Rinse and repeat
Groundhog Day
Personally, I'd rather watch flores struggle than watch play Tejada another game.
But please, continue...
Peace.
According to FanGraphs, Lagares is the only OF to ever have consecutive seasons of 25 or more Defensive Runs Saved. Defensive Runs Saved is a stat that only goes back about 10 years. There’s a very full and extremely thorough explanation available on the FanGraphs page, but the extremely simplified answer is it “indicates how many runs a player saved or hurt his team in the field compared to the average player at his position.
Rival exec on whether anyone will claim Bartolo Colon on waivers: "It would be like a lightning bolt from the heavens for the Mets."
Wonder if Colon makes it through. Gammons has a source that says the Orioles and Yankees are "claiming everyone"
just that players salary I believe since the waiving team can say you can have the player for just salary
