This is a blow indeed

I have no idea how long this takes to heal but I assume it isn't season ending?
Its a pain threshold thing

If there was no fracture associated with it.
Hopefully

just a few weeks...but then again he hasn't looked great at LG...no idea why you take an all pro and move him out of position. He should be at RG.
If he comes back it better be at right guard

Richburg just locked himself up the LG spot...
Not surprised

Football is a violent sport. Somebody has to inevitably get injured with such violence. I'm sure guys would be carted out even if this were two hand touch.

(I'm trying to not be gloomy over this news. How am I doing?)
Don't they just

tape it to the other toe and get back out there?

Not a blow

Richburg is the EQUALIZER. We needed an injury to an expensive, underachieving vet, to get him in our starting lineup.

Hopefully the line improves.
I dont get why he plays so high

And takes steps backward like he has flippers on. It was like he was running hurdles backward and jammed his toe into the ground.

I think that's just when something happens to the little toe (break or dislocation).

Big toe has a little more to it. He may need a soft boot for a couple days.
This how you end up with a starting position...injuries

Richburg steps in for Schwartz and looks amazing. Keep him there.

Had that happen to me in a game

Still have it. Hurts like hell when I run. He should be able to handle the pain and play with it.
Richburg at LG
bceagle05 : 8/22/2014 9:37 pm : link
and Schwartz at RG has been an obvious upgrade for weeks. Not sure why it hasn't happened yet, but if it doesn't now it never will.

Yes. A good title is everything... this is Clickbait 101
RG/LG
armsteadeatslittlekids : 8/22/2014 10:03 pm : link
Guard is a largely interchangeable position from side to side. It's wishful thinking that Schwartz magically becomes good just by switching him to RG. You're also assuming that RG means the same thing to the Giant's offense as it does to the Chief's. Could Schwartz start over Mosley when he comes back? Absolutely, but that's because Mosley has mostly been dog shit to date.
Good point about the offenses.
bceagle05 : 8/22/2014 10:11 pm : link
I just find it odd that they've tried every combination up front except the one that seems to make the most sense. Schwartz has said RG is where he's best, and Richburg looks good at LG. Walton's steady so far at C. This offensive line isn't very good, but it shouldn't be horrible either.
No great loss....
Mcphedge : 8/22/2014 10:59 pm : link
Schwartz has performed much like David Baas... expensive under-performer... journeyman until last year, when he started 7 games for a pretty good Chiefs team? Big f'ing deal! Welcome Weston Richburg, you're up!
Hopefully...

Mark, when did Schwartz become an All-Pro? Never happened...
Wondering if Schwartz at LG is to protect Beatty...
Dan in the Springs : 8/22/2014 11:20 pm : link
if Weston can do the job there and Beatty looks good, I think there's a good chance we see Schwartz back at RG, where he played well at last year.
Any injury is still a loss. If Schwartz can't go
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/22/2014 11:27 pm : link
they're one injury away from having to play a Cordle-level replacement.
There is a
Doomster : 8/23/2014 8:32 am : link
difference between playing RG and LG....some guys can do both, some guys can play better in one position than the other, and some guys just can't play the other position....

He seems more comfortable at RG, because he absolutely sucks at LG, and why this coaching staff is forcing him to play at a lower level at LG, is really perplexing to me....if they can't see that he is not playing well at that position, there something very wrong here...
Putting and keeping a credible O-line on the field
Jimmy Googs : 8/23/2014 8:58 am : link
seems to be an impossible task for this team.

Richburg should have been at LG this entire time.
arcarsenal : 8/23/2014 9:38 am : link
I have absolutely no idea why he wasn't to begin with. He looked better than Schwartz did.

Works for me. I've seen others here who have said the same. Good job!
Mosley is the issue not Schwartz
PatersonPlank : 8/23/2014 9:40 am : link
This guarantees Mosley will be starting, which is bad.
They have to pick up an OL who gets waived

either on Monday or the 30th. Maybe 2.
