Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union signed the infamous Molotov - Von Ribbentrop Pact with its secret protocols paving the way for WW II. 25 years ago today the peoples of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania created a human chain linking the three occupied states denouncing the Pact and facillitating a process that would lead to the collapse of the USSR in 1991.
It only lasted a few years, as they didn't really have the wherewithal to run a country. But within a decade, it became, along with additional western land, the state of Tennessee.
