I apologize if I'm captain obvious here.. But I'm usually guilty of being too optimistic... The O-Line sucks. Period. Beatty is done. We don't know what we'll have with Schwartz, and aside from Pugh it's a bunch of ?s.
The Defense will be formidable.. But that's very contingent on Beason coming back along with Prince. Prince and DRC are a dynamic tandem on the outside... But without Beason, McClain will lead the league in tackles +5 yards. He's slow and unimpressive.
Sure it would take a while for the new offense to fire on all cylinders... But with that porous O-Line... I fear Eli is going to be in trouble all year.
Yes, the O-line is a problem, but so what? Every QB gets hurried. Every QB gets hit. Not every QB fumbles or throws the ball to the other team as often as Eli.
He's far from a rookie, he should know better.
See you next August for training camp.
From what I remember reading, Bennett wasn't one of those guys who learned to love Coughlin's eccentricities. Really, isn't it time Coughlin ditched his "five minutes early" rule?
Next thing you know, Reese will be putting a Super Bowl countdown clock in the locker room.
2-the kid washington looks pretty good and is a big body wR we all were hoping we would have on the roster
3-Oh yea, OBJ is still in our back pocket
4-Damonster looks pretty legit
5-the run game looks pretty good that play action could work out better than recent years
6-andre williams looks like a stud to complement jennings
7-Nassib looks really good. i was a little skeptical on him before becasue he always seems to throw bullets for every pass. but he showed a lot on touch on his throws against the colts and jets that i am sold he will be good. this is a great system for him
So we won't win the superbowl this year. we have a pretty good future i think.

Good list. To it I would add: (8) Hankins looks really good, and (9) our secondary is strong, with DRC, Prince, and Thurmond. Biggest problem is the OL, especially since Eli is so immobile. We saw in at the end of the first half what Eli can do if given time, but I doubt this OL can create that much time for him on a regular basis. Second biggest problem of course is no TE. This is where criticism of Reese is legitimate IMO.
With his speed, route running ability and great hands, Eli gets another high quality weapon.
We just have to hope the hamstring injury is a blip and not the beginning of an injury prone career.
Defense lacking a pass rush.
September could be ugly. If the OL gels and they pick up the offense they could finish strong. Both big "IFs".

Sometimes when shit like that happens it's forces your hand and viola. I remember when Rich Suebert eventually got his chance. I don't recall who he replaced but like a lot of others I said to myself who the hell is this guy.
Yeah the Giants have had a lot to work through but there are a lot of able bodied players on this team and you just never know in this league. When things come together and it all starts to click you have a chance. I'm usually a pessimist when it comes to football because of all the parameters that make it so difficult to keep teams together.
The one thing the Giants have is depth and a lot of it at every position. That may be something of an advantage as the season goes along that will serve them well as the inevitable attrition factor takes it toll on everyone. No team can avoid it. It's just the way it is in the NFL.

It had NOTHING to do with Coughlin. The Giants wouldn't/couldn't match the Bears' offer. Remember, they were tight against the cap at that point.
This is how I feel as well. Everybody assumes the D will be solid with all our proven pass rushers gone. Every NFL QB will pick us apart if he is sitting back there with no rush. Even Geno Smith looked confident and composed and he stinks. It's a passing league and without pressure the D can't get off the field. We all debate the skill positions endlessly but it does not matter much when you are weak at the core. Giants have real issues on the OL/DL and it severely limits their chances for success this year.
The Giants are still paying the price for bad drafting, bad luck, and a lack of foresight. As far as the draft goes, I think they've turned a corner philosophically (which is why I'm not in the "Fire Reese" camp just yet), but they're going to need another productive offseason to be able to compete with the truly elite teams.
They all took turns getting beat on Thursday. Drive after drive ended with a punt and each time pressure was at the root. I did not see one guy getting killed, they all took turns. When they finally got it together on that last drive things took off.
The Giants offense will be the strength of this team and the lack of a pass rush on D will be its Achilles heel.
In addition, the Giants offense is going to perform very differently in Game 1 than what it has shown thus far in preseason. For game 1 they will be practicing a game plan that will be a small fraction of the playbook - and will have practiced that game plan for two full weeks. And it is going to make a world of difference imo.
The roster has holes; he OL is short on talent, which impacts Eli's confidence and performance, etc. I'm still not of the belief we've got enough firepower to consistently generate a pass rush with our DE unit as is.
But, it's still early, the team should improve as long as it stays healthy. Need leaders to emerge ...
