Yeah, I know, late to the party once again, but I wanted to wait until my schedule and my youngest nephew's meshed so we could see it together, which we did.
Anyway...wow, what a flick. Lots of action, lots of laughs, and the soundtrack of my youth. The most fun I've had at the movies in a long time. Can't wait for the sequel.
Don't want to miller - but quick thoughts on the Strain? Haven't gone there yet and was curious as to what you were thinking?
The comparisons to Star Wars were apropos in my opinion. It might be THE movie for a generation of kids.
True. No superpowers, just guns and starships
no lol I'm only 21, but I know all the songs on the soundtrack lol

Did you grow up listening to that music?

That's awesome! As I said before, those songs were part of the soundtrack of my youth. Nice to hear they're appreciated by a new generation.
Well, you're a contrarian douchebag so that doesn't come as a surprise.
fantastic in so many ways....
my favorite reference was hearing Starlord call Rocket "Ranger Rick". Those were the magazines of my youth
Now admittedly, The Guardians of the Galaxies was a favorite of mine when they first appeared in comics back when I was a kid. I even own a bunch of their first appearances in comic books, so I went to this movie expecting to like it. But that was some of the most fun I've had watching a movie in many years. Definitely looking forward to the sequel!
Good call, spike.
Weekend Box Office: Guardians of the Galaxy Reclaims No. 1 Spot, Becomes Summer's Biggest Hit.
And from that article, the new Sin City movie tanked. $6.5 million on its opening weekend. Ouch.

Bahahaha. Well that escalated quickly...
I mean, Spider-Man, everyone knows him. You make a Spidey movie and you don't have to try that hard. You can make a plain superhero movie and people will come see it.
Thor or Iron Man or Captain America, you have to work those some to get people in the theater.

I didn't even know Sin City was released this week. I have barely seen any ads for it. I saw one commercial that looked like Mickey Rourke's "Marv" was in it.
I agree, but as crappy as that movie was, it still made a buttload of money.
If you made a Thor movie like that, you'd be lucky to pull in a hundred million domestic.
Marvel Studios didn't make that film. It's a Sony/Columbia Pictures movie.
