NFT: South Adirondacks

Hey I am taking the family to the southern Adirondacks and I need advise on the best excursions. I have many options it seems but would like to hear from you guys. I am leaning to do some Caverns or go to Old Forge for a day. Open to other ideas, fire away.

How young are the kids? Split Rock Falls up in Elizabethtown is a tremendous time for a little cliff jumping/waterfall sliding. It can be a bit dangerous depending on their age but if everyone is careful you won't find more refreshing spring water to swim in.
I live in the southern Dacks

Elizabethtown is in northern dacks and might be too far up for him. Old forge is fun though. But unless your into hiking with the family there really isn't a ton of caves in the southern Adirondacks that are easily accessible. What else are you looking to do??

Great escape / splash water kingdom

I was thinking of Howes Caverns

I was also looking to go the 9 corner lake? We are not huge outdoors people but want to experience what the ADK is all about. I also want opinions on golf courses if anyone has ideas. Nick Stoner is very close to where were staying so that seems to be our best option.
Ahh Howe caverns

a solid choice. Good picnic grounds, a beach, hiking trails, etc. But that's in the Catskills by Hunter Mountain. You might be able to catch a festival or some music at Hunter too.

In the southern Adirondacks you could look at Moreau State Park. Big beach, play area for the kids, some hiking.
Cranberry Lake is beautiful.

There's a beech on part of the lake and a nice mountain to climb called Bear Mountain.
