In his newest note on the topic, Eric notes that the contributions come from the same people from year to year, and that last week only a dozen contributions were received.
That means there are many, many hundreds who visit the site regularly, enjoy it in some fashion, and don't contribute a plugged nickel. What is that about? Is it the modern idea that everything on the Internet should be free? Is it laziness? Is it cheapness? Is it a suspicion that Eric is somehow double-dipping? (If it's that be man enough to say so.)
I wonder how many of those who don't contribute would be upset if the site were shut down. Of that group, I wonder how many could afford $20 a year or some such?
I just don't understand the thinking. Crap on me all you like, but also consider your own motives. I think this sucks, even if we squeak through again for another year.
Pile on me all you like, now. Then go to Paypal.
Sorry.
Sorry.
And Eric understands that and has said ad infinitum, if it's a burden, DON'T donate..It's those who can afford even $5-10 that he's appealing to
1) BBI is primarily a football site, so this thread is about a football site, even if it isn't about football per se.
2) If I made it an NFT, it wouldn't reach those people who choose to only read FTs, which would defeat my purpose, wouldn't it?
Thanks for asking.
I guess I couldn't afford to stay around, then :)
I plan on donating this year, but have to wait until the end.
year and this year will be no different.
Where else can you go for such entertainment.
Your friend,

You're a shitty person. Donate.
To be honest the past few years have been tough on me. I was paying tuition the last two years for my MBA, out of pocket over $1000 a month. The year before I had just bought a house and didn't feel comfortable with the cadence of my expenses at the time. This year I'm starting to have to save for a ring for my hopefully future fiancé as my thread last night indicated. If donations are really that far down though, I will donate to help out. This site is great for giants news, all New York sports and all sports for that matter, current events and advice whether you participate or just hang in the background.

Kickerpa's got a 45 page excel sheet with all of the reasons he hasn't donated, along with how his decisions have impacted the price of grain in the third world. Life is complicated sometimes.
Wish it could be an exit fee, sometimes.
BBI doesn't come with a parallel model. If you want what it offers, you need to support it.
You cannot tell anyone how to spend their money. They earned it, their choice, fuck off again.
You cannot tell anyone how to spend their money. They earned it, their choice, fuck off again.
By your rules:
1. Make sure not to tell a murderer that they should bad about it.
2. Make sure not so suggest that people should help the needy.
Also, by saying "fuck off" you are implicitly telling someone how they should feel. By your own rules, just don't say anything.
Not that I actually told anyone how to feel. If you want to incessantly feel like a miserable creep, as you apparently seem to desire, be my guest.
Please.
He may have been responding to HH, who suggested that some people should feel ashamed for not contributing.
I donate every year, every single year, I'm not "being cheap" I pay my god damn money because it's worth it, but I won't badger anyone into it.
The fuck off..yeah, basically you don't have any right to tell anyone what to do with their money. Zero.
Maybe I will come out of it, maybe I will get over an addict destroying my marriage and the pain that goes with it, but until then yep..i'm a jerk and i'm not taking any crap from anyone about anything.
I may be banned from BBI, but that doesn't mean that I don't visit the site multiple times each day and glean a lot of Giants information (as well as a lot of NGT and NFT information) from the site.
Since I'm a daily visitor to the site, a $50 contribution to keep the site going is something that I feel obligated to do.
It's just sill that Eric won't swallow his pride and accept my contribution.
After all, banned BBI members CAN and DO still benefit from the site.
In my possibly distorted view, asking what the thinking is behind not donating isn't the same as telling people they have to donate. Maybe it is. Can't see it.
Similar to the way the NFL levies fines, the amount could increase with each subsequent banning.
And, it should start with a genuinely punitive amount. Like, say, a $100 fine for the first banning, $250 for the second banning, and $500 for the third banning. Then, after three bannings, the offending poster would have to pay a fine of $1,000 to be reinstated.
If a banned member truly loves BBI THAT much, and is willing to spend his/her money to be reinstated, then this "Banned-Member Fine" system could actually benefit the site.
After all, as I've already stated, banned members CAN and DO continue to visit, and benefit from, BBI. Why not get some money from these people?
