and down, as was noted. He hasn't played any football in months, and was going against one of the best front fours in the league. The problem is that any of his mistakes will be magnified by Eli's immobility. But that is true for any of the OL.
vs. expectations... has been one of the few bright spots... he whiffed on babin but that miss is corrected with reps... its not like he bull rushed him... that was just a 1 on 1 whiff in space.
I'd feel fine about Beatty if I thought he was 100% dedicated to playing football and wanted to be the best player he can possibly be. Unfortunately I don't think he is and I don't think he does.
I think Babin is actually a pretty good pass rusher. He's played well the past few years in that department and is only 3 years ahead from his 18 sack season.
It was definitely atrocious though.
The positives I take from Beatty's performance are
Didn't I read a few weeks ago on one of these evaluations that Nassib is rattled in the huddle, has no accuracy , and can't complete a pass to a wide open receiver and this was when the team practiced without pads?
If he was Diehl in his prime they would have nothing

The evaluation spoke to Nassib being useless. Not saying he's special but certainly not useless. Not sure that Orr's evaluations, and a few of the otter reporters, are all that useful especially when reviewing tape.
Any chance the back was supposed to stay in and help
He is getting healthier and better which is all we could have hoped for coming off the leg injury.
I just can't imagine he'll be as bad as he was in 2013. I'm hoping we get the Beatty of 2012 again. He may not be a stud coming out of the gates but if his pass protection is up to snuff early in the season again it will go a long way in determining our success.
They can always give him some help from the TE.......
if things are going well, he will show up. If his team is winning, if he's about to get paid...he will play well. He needs something to motivate him.
Its an issue that, if I remember right, as followed him around since college.
It's true. Good friend of mine met his agent recently. He basically confirmed all of those things. Says Beatty just doesn't really love playing football. Which sucks. But. It is what it is I guess.

No question, Beatty has great feet and very good mobility for the LT spot. If healthy and he plays up to his potential, we will be fine at that position. At this point, I am very encouraged by his play on Sunday considering the time off he's had and the fact that he is learning a new offense.
I'm betting, the starting OL will probably go a little longer than usual for a final preseason game (for gelling purposes).
that Beatty didn't like playing football all that much? Did Reese know when he gave Beatty a raise last year ($19 million guaranteed and a $12.5 million signing bonus) that he didn't like playing football all that much?
IMO - the best news is that he seems like he will be healthy enough to start the season. How well he does is still very much a question
bigger issue for me is the C.

Probably. Would you have disagreed?

Agreed. The Oline were the root of the issues and it wasn't hard to see.
