finally reason for some optimism?

Andy in Boston : 8/25/2014 7:09 pm
Is it me or are the practices from the reports from Connor and Giants.com starting to show more promise? Quarterback/Most importantly Eli starting to play better. Continued good play by the secondary. Reuben Randle coming along. Jon Jerry coming along. The Giants seem to be effective in the 2 minute drill both in the Jets game and in practice.

Downside is Mosley not practicing along with Holliday and ODB not practicing.

Remember when Ron Dayne

was a pre-season HOF'er?

Lots of optimism there also

What a pitiful comparison. What does Dayne have to do with a 2x SB champ getting better towards the end of the preseason while learning a new offense?
Hopefully Jerry can knock some of the rust off
Jay on the Island : 8/25/2014 7:22 pm : link
in case Richburg struggles early on. Mosley has probably been the best OL so far this preseason and I expect him to get better as the season progresses. I know the line has struggled so far but I think as time goes on they will begin to get comfortable with one another and start to gel.

Dude. Stop with the optimism. We're going 0-16 this year. Accept it.

it seemed like every practice was horrible.
Constant interceptions....etc.

It seems like this team is starting to make some progress....which at this point they should.

The only unfortunate is the injuries and the lack of practice time by some players.

against Detroit. Optimism or pessimism gets replaced by reality.
Personally I think we stated to show promise in the Jets game
PatersonPlank : 8/25/2014 7:35 pm : link
IMO the offense moved the ball a lot better we just shot ourselves in the foot. The OL was not a complete breakdown, we just had a few brain farts, and we had a really good 91 yd TD drive.
Unfortunately optimism

does not fit into BBI's narrative this summer... having shit fits is all the rage here!

i would rather go 0-16 then what we did last season at least that way reese can really screw up the draft
You have to learn how to evaluate preseason practices and games
BSIMatt : 8/25/2014 7:49 pm : link
1)If players are playing poorly, it doesn't matter that it's preseason, it truly means we are in big trouble and Reese's poor drafts have cost us yet again.

2)If players are playing good, it can mean one of two things:

--If the player is 2nd-4th string it means they should immediately be given time with the 1s, because what are the coaches thinking

--If a starter plays well, it doesn't mean anything because Ron Dayne.

I'll be optimistic when

I see Odell Beckham practicing and the team winning game 1.
we are simply

a mediocre team and will finish with a mediocre record. Strong in some poeitions, weak in others. The extreme predictions pro and con are inaccurate.
There is reason for Optimism,
RetroJint : 8/25/2014 8:05 pm : link
Pessimism & good old-fashioned Realism. I like it that most of their key guys are not old. Trip hammer personalities: Eli, McAdoo, Beason, Rolle, Beckham. Get solid, consistent play from those players, who stay healthy & McAdoo not coughing up his lungs a la Ray Handley when the crap hits the fan, and I think they can be in contention in the division. But they have a brutal schedule.
I remember Ron Dayne playing like shit in pre-season
Some Fan : 8/25/2014 8:20 pm : link
and people noticing that and then Dayne continuing to play like shit in regular season. I don't think he was ever talked up once we all saw his play.
You really can't tell a whole lot from practice
Gman11 : 8/25/2014 8:27 pm : link
After all, if the offense is tearing it up then that means the defense is getting torched.

If the defense is dominating then the offense is stinking up the place.

What would you think
Doomster : 8/25/2014 8:42 pm : link
if that DB did not go out of bounds?

Just, wondering....

If we beat the Lions...
FatMan in Charlotte : 8/25/2014 8:48 pm : link
people will say we have to wait until we play the division. Or, they will say we have to wait until we play on a sunday.

If we start 3-0, people will say, wit until we play Seattle.

This shit happens every year.

LOL! So true. Winning does have a way of raising spirits and a loss makes it seem like the season is over or at least in jeopardy.
I dont want to be a downer

I know what jernigan can do and randle and cruz. I would like to see one series with washington and randle on the outside and cruz in the slot. just test it out to see how that fairs out. it is not like putting eli with second string lineman blocking for him. If that works well and washington makes a play or two, than that would get a lot of giant fans optimistic. one reason being it shows that washington sprung up the chart and there is a solid chance of seeing him in the season, and two, if OBJ is as great as a 1st rounder should be, that would be a major plus. and reese would have his job saved. even if the OL sucks this year, he doesn't get fired because he would then provided eli with a deep and dangerous arsenal. OL can't be fixed in one season but they are indeed getting younger.

I just want to see this kid washington with the first team over jernigan this week. JJ did nothing with his opportunities so why not? if that works out even against the second team defense, i think we will all feel better about this team this yar and the future.

Yes. We need to see Washington with better competition.
We fans are very impatient.

I read this too. Supposedly bad routes and poor blocking and McAdoo went nuts on the team.

many BBIers go doom and gloom. Aging & injuries do a lot to explain 2013.
