NFT: Advice RE. Power washing new concrete

Padiwan15 : 8/25/2014 7:32 pm
I'd appreciate some advice on this issue. I just had concrete paved. I power wash my yard about every two weeks. As I was power washing the yard, I realized I wasn't sure when I could begin to power wash the area just paved. I'm not anxious to power wash it, but I want to make sure I don't do it too soon. Any ideas on how long I should wait? Thanks!
Different types of concrete has different curing times

But I'd give it a month to be on the safe side. High temperatures and a lack of rain will also help the concrete cure.
you really should never power wash concrete

Two weeks because it gets really dirty, from various sources. Thanks everyone for your advice. It is much appreciated.
What is it you're power washing?

I don't get the "my yard". What is your yard made of? If I power washed my yard, I'd be power washing grass, trees and bushes.
And why did you pave over concrete?

Is that something one would us usually pave over?
Part of my yard

Is concrete just past the back yard door. It's a 15x 10 concrete pad on which we have a patio set and Grill. It's gets dirty from the trees above after it rains, dogs and kids dragging dirt from the remainder of the yard, which is grass and dirt 20x10.
I didn't pave over concrete

Never said that. I had the driveway jackhammer the old concrete up then repaved.
Before it gets dirty seal it.

It will make cleaning much easier, and you won't have to use real high pressure which could damage the concrete. Concrete takes 28 days to reach full strength.
Great idea.
