Hosley's a nickel, James plays outside.

Now they've got the talent where they COULD cut Hosley, but it would go against their normal MO.

The bad news for the Giants is he'll be eligible to play after 4 games...

I didn't really see much of him to have any sense. Is he an outside CB? Does he have size?

regarding James. He said due to injuries with OL, the Giants had to make a decision on James sooner than they wanted to. Had to keep more OL for Thursday.

Then again, what more would they need to see?

Hosley didn't get suspended he was getting cut, there is no reason to keep him over James, thrid round pick or not

Not entirely true. He does count as part of the 53 initially. After the rest of the players are waived then they can add a 54th.

Disappointed we cut James but it's a numbers game and we have a lot of CB's. Wish him luck. He will find a job.

Fred but he can still play the final preseason game. Maybe the Giants want one more look to see if he is worth keeping on the Suspended list

I thought the way it works (if they don't flat out cut Hosley) is that the Giants name their 53 players PLUS get a roster exemption for which they can use on the suspended Hosley.

The suspended list is different then putting someone on short term IR. In order to go onto short term IR you have to be one of the 53. Regular IR can occur anytime and the Suspended list doesn't count as he is automatically suspended and won't be on the roster. They get you at the end of the suspension not before because you have to either cut him or free up a roster spot.

The Giants today made 15 transactions to reach the NFL roster limit of 75 players in advance of the 4 p.m. deadline.

Two players were placed on injured reserve: safety Cooper Taylor, who injured the sesamoid bone in his left foot in Indianapolis on Aug. 16, and wide receiver Marcus Harris, who has a hip injury.

Two players were waived/injured: linebacker Justin Anderson (hamstring) and defensive end Emmanuel Dieke (knee).

Eleven players were waived: cornerbacks Charles James and Ross Weaver; safeties C.J. Barnett and Kyle Sebetic; linebacker Spencer Adkins; wide receiver Travis Harvey; tight ends Xavier Grimble and Jerome Cunningham; guard John Sullen; defensive tackle Everett Dawkins; and kicker Brandon McManus.

It's not even about football now with him. He's just a PR story. There's not a single soul that can convince you Herz had a better preseason than Adkins. And he wasn't that special on STs either. This is like the 3rd preseason where a LBer who showcased more than him was cut. That's a owner call but somehow how management and the coaching stff get stuck with the bill.

The Jets CB situation has gotten weird with the Dmitri Patterson mystery coupled with Milliner's high ankle sprain.

If they think that James has potential at nickel, they might well kick the tires. Although they would prefer to keep Wilson at nickel, they may not have that luxury.

I though Adkins and James would make it to the final cut, but I didn't think either would make the team.

Herzlich is not a good NFL linebacker at this point in his career, period.

That's BS..He's a 5th/6th depth LB who is terrific on specials

Prince, DRC, McBride, Thurmond and Bowman make the team, it leaves Bennett Jackson, Chandler Fenner and Hosley competing for the 6th spot.

With Hosley suspended for the first 4 games, it means that the competition for now is between Fenner and Jackson. Fenner and Jackson are about the same size and about the same quickness in 10 yds. but Jackson is faster in the 40, has more agility and is more shifty and explosive. Also IMO Jackson did a good job in the Jets game as the gunner on punt coverage.

It will be interesting to see how both play on Thursday.

I would have thought about 20+ would have been made and some quick signings of 3-4 guys from other teams would have happened.

I could have sworn that you had to have your 53 before you could replace a person due to injury or suspension. My bad if I was wrong.
