“This is just a minor setback,” said Schwartz. “I plan on attacking the rehab program so I can get back on the field as soon as possible with my teammates and help us win games.”
news possible. No short term IR. Walking boot for seven to ten days carries him up to week one, then maybe he misses another three games while rehabbing. So four games total. Hopefully. Just carry and deactivate him for those weeks.
Get well soon Geoff!
How do we have folks going from a season-ending prognosis Â
to week-to-week? Was this simply a bout of incredible overreaction or was there ever really that large of a potential spread on the consequences of a toe injury?
This gives Richburg time to run away with the LG position and that way we can move Schwartz back to RG when he gets back. That would be best-case scenario IMO
is that G. Schwartz misses first two games of year. Not sure if that info is coming from the Dr. or he is making stuff up. Hopefully, that's from the Dr. That would be great news.
but wonder how he can keep in some semblance of FB condition even if injury heals well. Big guy like that has to work hard to keep in shape. Maybe for the second half of the season if we are still viable by then.
If they haven't scheduled a surgery after taking the MRI then it probably means the tendon in that toe is not torn (or only slightly torn). The doctors are likely optimistic it will heal over time and just scar over and he will deal with it. A full tear would easily be 8-12 weeks so hopefully he has escaped that.
However, a big issue he will face is how much strength he will have in the toe after boot/rehab has taken place. Clearly his job depends on it being strong.

So how come they don't do toe-presses at the combine?
if we get him back game 5 we still have him 12 games.
Hope the prognosis is same or better after the 10 day wait.
In the meantime I hope players step up and hold the fort,i.e. Eli able to walk.

Considering this team's history with getting players back from injuries, it's likely that keeping him on the roster and inactive will turn out to be the wrong decision.
Hard to say..You and I? Generally speaking(without benefit of reports, exams, etc) 4 weeks or so from time of injury, to feel better. 300+ pound guy who must push off, twist and turn? Longer.. Any other toe but the big one, we're talking sooner..Without knowing the extent, I have no choice but to be somewhat vague..My guess? He misses 4 games, at best

Someone posted on here that there are some different factors that determine the length of time. One was where the dislocation occurred. If surgery was necessary, I think, it is a season ending injury.
From personal experience, I dislocated my finger and when that happened my bone chipped. I am sure the same could happen to a toe.

Because you actually need an MRI to take a look at the damage. Sportswriters and BBI posters only use keyboards.
Giants are calling it week to week after about a 7 to 10 day period Â
which I am going to guess is why it's a week to week type thing. Given its the Giants and the fact the team is generally snake bit when it comes to injuries and recovery time, I am going to assume he will be out the first half of the season...
Re: How do we have folks going from a season-ending prognosis Â
Along with Schwartz's injury prognosis we have TC and others telling us Beckham didn't suffer a setback last week - yet he hasn't practiced since. I'm beginning to wonder if they are purposely being vague a la Belichick and virtually all NHL hockey teams to keep other teams in the dark about player's injuries.
determine if he needs surgery yet. that is why its week to week. I tore my big toe up when I was 23 climbing over a barb wire fence and I had swelling in my toe for two weeks until doctor decided I needed surgery.
RE: Its week to week because he still has swelling and they cannot Â
Overall, this isn't bad news or at least it isn't as bad as I had expected.
He is still a big body guy with experience and I am sure we'll need him. The silver lining to this injury is that if he is back by say game 4 at least Richburg got some serious experience right out of the gates. Lets hope Richburg does well and doesn't make mental mistakes. That is my concern versus Detroit.
amputate the damn toe. He'd be ready in a week and would hardly miss it. Just how would you prepare amputated toe Bill? There must be a good toe recipe :)
This is the best news after what was feared by some. Â
Can imagine, though, a dislocated toe is much worse for an OL especially if it's a pivot foot and as well as the weight on it. Hoping now for a fast recovery so he's back in there ASAP.
This to me is a postive in terms of depth. Be happy he's not done for the year and coming off surgery in 2015. If we can get Schwartz back and rumbling by week 7-8 I'd be happy. Hopefully all hands stay on deck these next 1-2 months. We still have better OL and Rbs than last year.
This hasn't been a bad training camp / preseason at all. ***Knocks wood***

best news you could hope for, I suppose.
Does he go to the short term IR slot?

Because they would all get injured.
:)

It occurred at MetLife Stadium, if that helps. Sorry, I shouldn't be drinking this early in the day, lol

Gotta be careful with barbed wire. If it's covered with germs you can end up with main toe poisoning

I say week 1 questionable,week 2 probable.
