Upfront. The offense line may be the worst in the NFL. Watching manning run for his life on every pass play this preseason is brutal.
The defensive line is average at best. Regardless of how good our secondary is they can't cover guys for 7-10 seconds every pass
6-10 with 7-9 a close second.
Truth hurts.
Gentlemen it's a work in progress or is that too hard to understand?????
If you can think of one, please feel free to post here...oh, and said team should have a QB that's been playing in one system for 10 yrs...a completely different system.
Please also let me know how sharp that team looked out of the gate....thanks.
Just give it a rest already.
Read the internet or some of the newspapers from around the league, the issues you cite with the Giants are not limited to the Giants.
Agreed. But this team goes as far as the OL IMO. I still think it's more of a chemistry than lack of talent problem. Not that the OL is supremely talented, but just that they will play more cohesively as the season progresses. Of course by that time, Eli might be in the hospital.
We have one of the best head coaches in football we will be close to 500 just because of that
That being said, I'm not ready to say that will be the case this season. I have seen nothing that tells me it won't, but it's still preseason. I say lets hold off on evaluating the lines at this point because there could be a lot of reasons they haven't looked so hot. I'll give them 1, maybe 2 games into the regular season before I evaluate how they are going to be this season.
Absolutely hate threads like these. They are started for no other reason to get people riled up.
I have no idea how this team will finish up, that's the whole point of watching the damn games.
You need to focus on the big picture and just let things play out. The Giants may suck but they may be good.
You have a very finite number of Giants games left to enjoy. Relax and enjoy the ride!
My prediction is every bit as accurate as all of yours. :)
How much of other teams lines have you actually watched or paid this close attention to in order to even make that comparison?
I hope they can stay afloat during the early part of the season enough to allow us to be competitive in the second half of the season.
It was awful last year and hasn't looked a whole lot better so far this summer. Of course it's a work in progress, of course it can gel and get better. But Eli was pressured on about 75% of his dropbacks against the Jets. There were a lot of blown assignments and poor protections. To act like it's just not at all an issue is a bit naive.
Last year you have a point. This year, we knew months ago that preseason would be a "gelling period" for a brand spanking new unit. I was actually very impressed with the run blocking in the Jets game, and while the pass blocking wasn't good, it's crazy for us to expect it to be as the unit has not worked together very much yet.
Even with that caveat, it's pretty evident there was a dramatic improvement from the Colts game.
I'm glad we put together a decent looking drive at the end of the half, but.. the line is certainly still a pretty big concern.
They have capable talent. They just need to learn to function as a unit.
Last year they were getting blown off the ball and physically overwhelmed on runs and passes. That's not the problem that I've seen this preseason.
