A Trade Even I Would Like!

Tark10 : 8/27/2014 9:32 am
Been a Giant fan for 41 seasons and am a Manning fan. BUT.. The Rams lost Sam Bradford again and have Hill as their starter. How about trading Eli to the Rams for RG Rodger Saffold and next years 1st round pick? Can't wait to take the hits on this one!

My friend, you are going to take a lot of hits...

I will also say this about trades...both sides have to want to trade! This little detail seems to escape a lot of people.

Maybe you played too much

Madden last night
GREAT IDEA!
andrew_nyg : 8/27/2014 9:35 am : link
Rams line already sucks, so they give up their best interior OL and a 1st to get Eli....KILLED.

We get a top 5 pick, and Nassib as the starter.

KILL ME NOW!!!
I hope this is a joke
Big Rick in FL : 8/27/2014 9:35 am : link
The Bucs just gave up a backup TE & a 4th for a better Guard then Saffold.

So let's give up our 2X SB MVP QB to help a team out. While screwing ourselves over in the process. If the Rams had Eli it would be a pick in the 20s. Terrible terrible idea.

GiveShockeyTheBall : 8/27/2014 10:27 am : link
Give him a half decent o-line he can trust and WRs who are reliable (unlike Randle and JJ), and you will see Eli flourish.

I have not been happy with Eli lately but please stop. Trade him?
Blue21 : 8/27/2014 10:35 am : link
Now? Absolutely not. He may return to form and be great. Let this play out. Way too soon to start this trade talk.
I like some here
PaulN : 8/27/2014 10:38 am : link
Understand the trade talks in regards to Eli, in fact, as bad as he looks right now, i am surprised there are not more in fact. But in my view you must give the guy this entire season. He has earned that much, his contract is up i believe after this season, at that point then you must make a decision on him. The good news is that we do have a developing QB that has looked good this pre season, so at least we have that much.
It's actually not a terrible idea if you think about it

I threw it out there for some humorous feedback. Also, I don't play Madden, don't own an X-box or play station. I don't play fantasy football either. Lets all hope this offensive line gets its act together soon.
Absolutely Ludicrous
buljos : 8/27/2014 10:46 am : link
Eli behind that Rams line, in that division. Come on man.

It's not about Eli. It's about Eli's blocking and the playbook. McAdoo's offense will take pressure off the line and WRs... and therefore Eli once he's comfortable within it. JR in my humble opinion should have gone Martin then Richburg with such a deep WR draft. Sure, Beckham's much better than Huff or Moncrief or the other mid round WRs. But it doesn't do Eli any good to have a top tier WR while starting Mosley or Walton. What's TC going to do when Walton's inadequacies are truly revealed in regular season games? Start Richburg at Center... and who are the starting Guards? JR knew Walton in FA was not a solution so he drafted the best Center in the nation with his 2nd pick. It's only a matter of time before we see Walton for who he is... the Center PFF rated the worst in the League in his last full season in 2011. He didn't get better while not playing football, and he last took a regular season snap in early 2012. He is not good, and the Jets game was a prelude to how bad he'll be in the regular season.

It's not about Eli... he'll win the division when JR puts him behind a real good line with good blocking RB and TE again.

Practically no one has any faith in Eli or this regime. The ones that do are labeled as Pollyanna or blind homers. But this team has done more good than bad the last ten years. Some of that good was great and historic.

I haven't seen this much BBi negativity ever. And I've been here since 96...some of the negative is so over the top and unfounded yet it's not isolated to a few apes or mouth breathers. A lot of people are crushing this regime. I just don't get it.

Maybe the giants do suck and this is the end but I don't think it's crazy to believe things end well in 2014. Coughlin is a good coach and consistent displayed an ability to Coach up young talent. Eli has shown time and time again that he will help turn unknown Wrs into household names.

But now they are garbage. Mosley won't develop. Randle won't develop. Jernigan is terrible and won't shine now that he has a legit shot at playing time.

We didn't have Wrs heading into 2009. Or. 2011. We had no dline in 2008 once Osi went down. Eli couldn't win on the road before 2007.

All debunked thanks to a system that fucking works. But now it can't work because the team went 7-9 last year and young unknown players aren't shiny.

I'll take my chances on this team. They have earned my trust.

love how people think QB's grow on tree's. Look at Jacksonville, Houston, Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Jets etc. etc. It's not easy to find a QB with. Don't give one away because of one bad season. Let's see what out having a top pick. Even then, you can pick the right guy and still blow the pick . Let's see what this new offense can do first.

I'm as nervous as anybody about it. I know people say it's a new offense, but they aren't even executing the simplest of plays. Now, Eli is a rhythm QB so pre-season games do not always cater to his game and he has looked bad in the past yet had good seasons, but I am nervous. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see this offense improve every game and lead this team to the playoffs. This division is winnable and the Wild Card should be right there within reach also.

So you don't panic and make a trade like this, giving up on a 2 time SB winner and the season. It's just silly.

I think we have unmasked Tark10 as:

Have you ever seen Eli have a lousy quarter or half
Gman11 : 8/27/2014 12:10 pm : link
and then get hot?

It can't happen in the preseason because after a quarter or quarter-and-a-half he's out of there. Let's see how he plays for an entire game before shipping him out.

There's also the little thing called the salary cap. I don't know what the Rams cap situation is, but whenever somebody proposes a trade they never mention potential cap hits.

You want to bring discussion, do the homework. Then maybe we'll chat. (Not likely, but maybe.)
That's a trade you consider only if you really think they have no

chance to even be decent and should be entering total rebuild mode. Management doesn't think that. They may be proven wrong. That said, that would be a cold, Belichick-ian move.

Also Tark, before you run Eli out of town, remember how long it took to replace Phil Simms.
So, we can agree that Eli is not the problem..
EricJ (formerly Tyleraimee) : 8/28/2014 10:02 am : link
and it is the O-line for the third year in a row???? So, the problem is Reese?
Perhaps it was also injuries
djm : 8/28/2014 10:09 am : link
Losing Andre Brown two straight seasons and Wilson sucking and fumbling and getting hurt didn't help the offense. And nicks didn't help the last 1.5 seasons. And Eli played poorly too.

Group effort. A lot went wrong.

Reese isn't a bad gm. People like blaming it all on him because it's easy and convenient and there are some Eli apologists who like using Reese as the scapegoat. A lot went wrong the last two years.
