Hynoski,Conner or both

NYBEN : 8/27/2014 12:36 pm
Who do you guys think makes the roster at fullback? I believe that if they only keep 1 it will be Hynoski because he is a better receiver. But I would love to see them keep both maybe even at times use them together in SOME short yardage and goal line situations. Could you guys see a RB group of Conner, Hynoski, Jennings, Williams and Gaskins. Power football just may be the way to go this season...throwback football.
Hyno
pjcas18 : 8/27/2014 12:38 pm : link
can't keep two FB's with so many other areas requiring depth.
Both
Krisqo : 8/27/2014 12:38 pm : link
I think they should have Hynoski be the starting fullback as well as the 4th rb. Conner to me is more valuable than Gaskins or Cox.
only way i see 2 fbs
CGiants07 : 8/27/2014 12:38 pm : link
would be no hillis and cox as 3rd halfback
I Really Wanted Conner
Aloha Alan : 8/27/2014 12:39 pm : link
to beat out Hynoski, but Hyno has outplayed him and will make the team. Connor will be let go this weekend.
I would keep Connors
I'mRonBurgandy? : 8/27/2014 12:40 pm : link
if it were up to me. I think they'll probably keep Hynoski. There's only a marginal difference, if any. Hynoski might be able to catch the ball a little out of the backfield, Connor may be a little more stout as a blocker.

I can't see any reason to keep both.
Correct me
NYBEN : 8/27/2014 12:47 pm : link
if I'm wrong but haven't we kept 4 RB's in the past with 1 FB?So IMO they keep 2 FB's and only 3 RB's.
most of this depends
pjcas18 : 8/27/2014 12:54 pm : link
on how the offense changes.

Between Conner and Hynoski they were combined only on the field 27% of all offensive plays.

Conner 245/1042
Hyno 29/1042

so, unless the usage of the full back increases dramatically, you cannot justify keeping them both.

For reference sake:

John Kuhn 324/1141

I don't see enough FB usage to warrant both being kept.
Its been Hynosky and I have to think it'll stay that way.
Curtis in VA : 8/27/2014 12:56 pm : link
I like Conner and hope he's finally able to find a permanent home in the league somewhere. He's a good FB. Hynosky just fits into what we need from the FB more than he does.
Would love to keep both
jeff57 : 8/27/2014 12:56 pm : link
But since that's not realistic, have to choose Hynoski.
I think both
Doomster : 8/27/2014 12:57 pm : link
with Hyno possibly being some TE depth...
Hyno
OC : 8/27/2014 12:58 pm : link
Gotta be. He's the better all around player in my book.
Both
Some Fan : 8/27/2014 12:59 pm : link
because our TEs are so goddamned bad.
I think it depends on how much of the H-back role the Giants feel
Hades07 : 8/27/2014 1:03 pm : link
Hynoski can fill. If they feel they are stronger with 2 TEs and Hyno filling the H-back role or if they feel they need that 3rd TE. If Hyno can be the 1 FB, 4 HB and 3 TE, that will open a roster spot and could leave space for Conner. It will also open up several short yard alignment opportunities. Hyno, Conner, Williams/Hillis and 2 TEs on the field or a TE and an OL playing TE. That is a lot of power on the field for a couple of yards when needed.
Neither are any great shakes
HomerJones45 : 8/27/2014 1:05 pm : link
ok with either one.
No outside runner in the group
Jupiter : 8/27/2014 1:14 pm : link
Cox is probably closest to an outside (end sweep) threat. I think Jennings and Williams are more off-tackle and inside-the-tackle runners.

If Cox is released, the only "running" plays to the outside may be swing passes and screens. That's more West Coast than we have seen in the past.

Agreed but If we fuckin' went with four wide to spread out the defense we wouldn't have to worry about getting to the edge. Our running game could be even better with Jennings or Williams pounding it inside with only 5 or 6 in the box.
Hynoski a much better fit for this type of offense
NYGmen58 : 8/27/2014 1:49 pm : link
I love Conner as a lead blocker but he is more limited in what he brings and not an ideal fit for WCO.
both would have to play specials
bc4life : 8/27/2014 2:28 pm : link
and do TE stuff.

Hynoski may be better fit and Conner getting hurt - hurt his chances. But, I still have memories of defenders avoiding Conner's blocks. His blocks are like body punches - they take the heart out of a defender.

I think Gaskins over Cox.Parker over Holliday. 6 Wrs not 5, they have to they have shit at TE to catch the ball.I seem to remember the team usually keeps 6, but I may be wrong there.

That's what I would do especially with the weaknesses at TE. If they go best 53 Then both should make it.

If we go best 53 we will have 4 OLs and no TEs on the roster.
I don't mind keeping both
Mike in Long Beach : 8/27/2014 3:09 pm : link
But then we can only keep 2 TEs.
Cut a TE and
OldPolack : 8/27/2014 7:42 pm : link
make Ski an Hback with Conner at FB.
Better protection for Eli and will be hard to defend against the run.
both
BigBlueCane : 8/27/2014 8:36 pm : link
Each is more talented then some of the more dubious prospects at more discussed positions.

parker is safe. holliday won't make it unless they carry 7 wr
