FedEx Field, home to the Washington football team for ONLY the last 17 years, may already be headed into its final years if Owner Dan Snyder can pull it off.
“Whether it's Washington, D.C., whether it's another stadium in Maryland, whether it's a stadium in Virginia, we've started the process,” Snyder said |
The process appears to have one goal in mind...hosting a Super Bowl.
“I'd like to see it sooner than later, but we love FedEx Field,” he said. “It's a great place to feature our home games, but it's 17 years old now. I think it's time for us to start looking and we're doing it. |
Snyder: Redskins have "started the process" of planning new stadium - (

I should submit a bid.
Fuckin Danny World aka 6 Flags Stadium. Naming rights my balls.
I should submit a bid.
Don't forget to include an on-site casino.
Correct me if I am wrong on this...if you buy a PSL (which I believe Washington did when they built FedEx), it only lasts as long as the stadium is there. Once the games aren't played there, you are SOL. Do I have that right?
Point I'm asking is this - By building another stadium, they can go out and charge fans for another PSL and rake in a second dose of money from that scam.
I thin that may be what is behind this new stadium stuff.
I'd bet his Redskin PSLs would be the most expensive out there.
That said, comparitively it's on the very low end for public funding with 72% coming from the private sector.
I went to Giants Stadium in 2005 and thought it was in good shape. Maybe just a face lift. But no....they needed a bunch of club seats and PSLs.

And cigarette sales.
because there is no way any state or financial institution will be involved in a new stadium unless redskins get a new name.
Trying to figure that out will make everyone two tents...I mean too tense!

how about The Reservation?
That's basically what's happening here, right? By twice changing stadiums in a quarter century Snyder is looking to get two really big bites at the apple.
We're a long way from the Romans designing and building the Colosseum to still partially stand 2,000 years later.

I really wonder if that's Snyder's plan. Go to the powers that be and say, "if we change our name, will you give us a new stadium?" Trying to extort the most coin for something that is basically inevitable would be a very Snyder thing to do.
or the Jets could keep Metlife and we could get a new one in NY
That possibly could be plan at work. It is a very shrewd move business wise.
You get a new stadium, the new revenue that comes with it.
You get to host a Super Bowl and the revenue that comes from it.
With a new name comes the new revenue that comes with the new merchandise sales.
All of that in exchange for changing the name.

and the Mara's can spend a bit to change all the seats to blue at Metlife.

Think all the fans who paid for PSL will pay again?
