is very good at what he does and definitely knows more than I do generally but I would hate to be the team that drafts Kevin Hogan with a top 10 pick. I don't even think he's that good of a college QB, and I don't see much NFL future for him either.
Mel Gordon is the most consistently exciting RB I have ever seen in decades of following the Badgers. To his credit he stayed for his junior year, in part to work on his blocking and pass receiving.
Hey Jay: Good to hear from you; in fact once you get past the first 5-6 OTs one is really talking about primarily RT types, but if one option for the Giants is to slide Pugh to the left side then that's what they could very well be looking for. In that context for those that can see the A&M/Carolina game this evening USC2 has a couple of pretty good RT prospects in Robinson and Shell while Cann is one of the better more athletic OGs around.
Re Hogan; Mook, we actually base much of what we do on what we hear from NFL scouts and there is indeed mixed opinion on Hogan; some really like him; some don't; we in fact don't think he'll come out this year at all, but we will let Rob Rang and the guys at CBS sports know that Mook over at the BBI thinks they have Hogan way too high at #25.
I was unimpressed by Havenstein initially, but he has developed. It will be interesting if the Badgers go with alternating their two very different QBs. Then you can evaluate his traditional QB protection as well a moving pocket
A WR who could turn out to be a sleeper for the 2015 draft is WR Leonte Carroo of Rutgers. He was absolutely lighting things up last year until he beat an SMU CB for a 25 yd TD pass in overtime, got pushed after making the reception and ended up running into an unpadded brick wall at 3/4 speed. He never fully recovered, which was exacerbated by a late season concussion.
Marcus Mariota for Oregon. He looks like his skill-set may find success in the NFL. I want Eli to get us a couple more Lombardi's but I look for our next QB to have arm strength, smarts, with more mobility.
But I agree with Mook about Hogan. I see lots of Pac-12 games and I don't view Hogan as one of the better quarterbacks in the conference. He' s very inconsistent throwing the ball down the field. He has also played behind great offensive lines and a strong running game. I wouldn't pick Hogan in the first two round based on his play BEFORE this season.
RE: RE: Maybe the Giants will spend a premium pick on a Tight End in 2015.
No feet. I've never really paid attention to Scherff, but if he's as brutish and strong as people say he is and that he has no feet, perhaps he'd be better in a phone booth at OG.
If Randle doesn't step up this year I'd draft Stefon Diggs in a second. Kid is a STUD with the heart of a lion. He should get a lot more exposure on a decent Maryland team that moves to the B1G this year.
O'Leary is the only potential first rounder and he has durability, off-the-field and size issues. Funchess will only play WR at Michigan and probably can't play TE at the next level given that he's a shitty blocker (think of Michael Egnew).
My favorite is Heuerman (pronounced "Hire Man" out of Ohio State). I watched him against Clemson in the Bowl game and he's one hell of a blocker. He also caught a TD pass (he was wide open).

While I totally agree with you, he's not all that much different than Jake Locker was, and Hogan doesn't get hurt as frequently. We'll see, he's got a really good offense around him this year.
RE: As Colin said though, the TE class is very weak

It is very difficult to predict what a class of anything will look like. A preseason mock from last season certainly identified a few first rounders but more than half of the guys they expected to go in Round 1 didn't. Certainly a premier TE or two could emerge this year.

While that's true, you can generally get a good idea of where a player will go based on ability more than stats. Based on ability, very few TEs stand out

1st play from scrimmage in last night's Rutgers - Washington State game, Carroo beats the corner for a 78 yd TD pass.

Did you see that block by Amaro downfield on that Chris Johnson TD on the screen against us?

It would be a no brainer to draft Mariotta or Winston IMO.

Then again, maybe not.

Rub it in, ya rat bastid. Heavy sigh.
I'd still take Richburg, though.
They should have drafted a guy in the last rounds or pulled in more UDFA TEs.
One of these bums has to come through. Else, we have to spend a premium pick in 2015.

In that order

#1 He's not coming out next year according to his dad supposedly staying til gets his degree. I am surprised.
Yes he will be a decent to good NFL QB, minimum.
