The Naval Academy just unveiled its new football uniform yesterday that will see its first action against Ohio State this weekend in Baltimore. It was designed in collaboration with Under Armour, which now has a contract with Navy for all varsity uniforms:
The Naval Academy reached an agreement with Under Armour earlier this year, so the company will outfit all 33 of Navy's varsity teams. Ahead of Navy's big game against the Buckeyes this weekend, Under Armour came up with a new "Summer Whites" uniform for the Midshipmen. |
I am not really into all white uniforms, but I have to admit that it is pretty flashy (trademark of Under Armour from what I've noticed in other uniforms they've created, especially those of Maryland). It mirrors the Navy Summer White uniform, which I think beats the shit out of Army's digital camouflaged (ACU) inspired uniforms.
One interesting thing about these uniforms is that now you can distinguish what class each of the players are in by the shoulder and pants design:
Here's how you will be able to identify a player's rank:
-Freshman: anchor but no stripes
-Sophomore: anchor with one diagonal stripe
-Junior: anchor with two diagonal stripes
-Senior: anchor with one parallel stripe
-Captain: star and three parallel stripes |
While I doubt that Navy will beat Ohio State this weekend (who knows...crazier things have happened), I can't wait to watch them play this season with
Keenan Reynolds (potential Heisman candidate) leading the triple option offense.

And the Maryland Unis are awesome. People get caught up in the Pride uniforms, but they have like 14 combos. all-black, all-white, all red, etc.
By the way, the Giants will wear white pants at some point this year. Isn't that exciting?

I'm with you, I really like Maryland's uniform combo. I especially like their helmet design.
I liked last season's helmet design a bit better myself...
And what's wrong with looking like the Ponch? That's some serious chick-magnet, no?
This is a fabulous new uniform overall. But, most of the stuff Under Armour and Nike have been churning out for colleges the last couple of years has been some of the ugliest stuff in all of sports.
