compared to how he looked last season and how he's looked this preseason. Was the scheme in Philly that incompatible with DRC's abilities/tendencies? I mean, he wasn't bad in Arizona prior to going to Philly.
I'm glad that we have three top notch CB's on our team for a change.
You can actually see him try to bait QB's into throwing at him by giving a guy a little space on purpose because he's fast enough to recover and make a play on the ball. He and Prince are going to be a hell of a tandem. I'm very excited about having those two on the outside.
I'm thinking maybe because Andy Reid had an O-Line coach....
the eagles stuff was well-explained. it doesn't speak well of him, but he was playing for a green Defensive Coordinator w/rats jumping ship. and mainly nickel - this guy is in no way in hell a nickel and in this game of confidence that move reflected their coaching at the time
it's been shown when he is at the top of his game on the outside, he can cover any WR in the league 1on1 and right now he is making it look easy
runs a weird defense. As long as DRC can replicate his stride for stride coverage from this preseason, i'm confident him and Prince will have very good years.

Philly had him mostly in the slot which is not his strength also Roller seems to have the ability to push his buttons and get the best from him
I was in the endzone behind the Pats while the ones were playing.
On one pass defense, the receiver had a step on DRC outside the right hashmarks. DRC was on the receiver's right shoulder.
The ball came in over the receiver's left shoulder. DRC jumped kind of across the receiver's back (without touching him) to end up over the receiver's left shoulder to get a hand on the ball. Unbelievable. It's hard to explain how athletic play that was, especially seeing it from my vantage.
I didn't watch Denver much, so my impression of him was formed mostly by his tenure in Philly, which was less than impressive. He looks terrific, every bit the player he was hyped up to be.
But, so far, all indications point to a great signing. He has been far better than advertised this summer. He and Prince form the best tandem of starting CBs we've had in a long time. If our DL can stop the run, our D may actually carry this team in several games.
but most of that team did. Eagle fans just like to blame the non-Eagle drafted players for that mess. They forgot how DeSean Jackson balled on that team. They also ignored how he would hit the deck vs. taking a hit to make a play a lot of the times. Now that he's on the Redskins, they may remember that now.
my only slight issue is that he REALLY seems to make 'business decisions' when it comes to getting his hands a little dirty. I'm guessing (or should I say 'hoping') that it's because it's only the preseason but I've seen on at least two occasions where it looked like he was trying to avoid contact instead of initiate it.
But that's just a minor gripe that hopefully will go away once the games start counting. And for real... if he keeps covering WRs the way he has so far this preseason, I guess I can overlook it *grin*.
RE: Agreed.. seems to be a great pick up so far...

It sounds weird, but him avoiding contact in some spots actually doesn't bother me. His shut down cover skill is so valuable that I'd almost prefer he didn't seek out contact if possible. Obviously I don't want him letting a ballcarrier run past him but if a couple of defenders have already made contact and are in the process of bringing a guy down, we don't need DRC diving into a group tackle.

I hear ya arc...and agree to a point. But there was one play that stood out... I think it might've been against the Colts but am not positive of that... where the Giants ball carrier was runnning along the sideline and DRC had his back to the ball carrier (I think the defense had just forced a turnover and was returning it back the other way or something like that) as if he was going to block the on-coming defender and instead of engaging him he kind of just spun away, out of the way, at the last second... which slowed the defender down but that's about it.
Like you said, I don't want him jumping into piles unnecessarily... and maybe he just seems to be avoiding contact because it's only preseason...but I recall his lack of physicality being a issue with him and I'm just hoping it doesn't become a bigger issue when it comes time to tackle a guy like Joique Bell one on one when the season begins. Like I said earlier, not a big deal at all and if I have to trade in a lack of physicality for the way he's been defending passes since he's been here... I think I'll take it!
but I will take DRC's playmaking and coverage skills and look the other way if he is a bit "Deion" in the physicality department. He seems like a good teammate too.

and he is less than advertised -typical
I like what I see so far

He will be great for us for as long as he cares to be

Eli Manning

I'm more concerned about how he does on Monday vs. Calvin johnson then Sunday.

He barely got challenged this preseason, and when he did, he just defended the pass.

But come next Sunday, he's got Calvin Johnson across from him. That's a tough nut to crack.

I guess I would have been very disappointed on Sunday..

Do yourself a favor, just get an LT jersey?
Agreed!
I don't know how much they allowed it as it was a ridiculous throw and catch.
