Has anyone else been watching? I didn't realize until after the last episode that it was the season finale. Overall, I think the show is good with the potential to be better. That said, right from the the first couple of episodes I thought this would be one of those shows that was difficult to maintain for a long period. How long can they drag out the last ship at sea thing?
The final episode, I thought, was the weakest of the season. What the writers and directors obviously thought were surprise plot twists were very predictable right from the start. For example, it was quite obvious from the very first conversation on the video feed that Garfield was going to be an adversary.
I don't like having to wait almost a year for the next season. Will the rest of this series be played out on land? Will they reclaim their ship and raise anchor?
The cast was very effective and I hope for more success next season.
It will be a long wait.
My guess is that they will re-take the ship in the first couple of episodes next season and then go back out to sea to look for another location to replicate the virus. I'm not sure the will be able to keep them on dry land for an entire season. Unless they ally themselves with the man in black and "re-take" baltimore.
Two, was how pristine their building and vehicles looked. I don't care what kind of stronghold they seemed to make of it. It was the only structure in the entire city that was spotlessly clean, as were their SUVs. They both just looked ludicrous, in my opinion.
Good show all around just Sucks waiting a year
I had mixed feelings about episode 9. On one hand, I thought it was very touching. On the other, I thought it was a bit ridiculous that after a couple of days, they are claiming to have a vaccine and cure. I realize it is not real and I also realize that there are extreme circumstances. It just seemed a little too condensed or "neat" to simply run one trial with 6 people for a couple of days and say you're done and ready to mass produce. I am willing to suspend the reality on this one though.
I hadn't thought of the wife's death as an opportunity for Chandler and the doctor. That actually may open up an interesting story line with Tex. I am 100% convinced Tex is going to rescue the doc. After that, a relationship between the doctor and Chandler could create a really bad rivalry, causing Tex to possibly go rogue.
Back to Tex rescuing the doctor. I think his leaving may have been a calculated ruse on his part. For one, he wanted to force some emotion out of her. for another, given the way they cut to him briefly at the end, I think he may have been suspicious and may have said he was leaving to intentionally separate himself from the crew, but to observe the activity from a distance.
As for the doctor, the captain, and Tex...if Star Trek taught us anything, it's that ship's captains and long-term relationships don't mix. I don't see a love triangle happening.
As for Woodard, my complaint was that they made it too obvious and brought it to the surface too soon.
As for Mrs. Granderson, they had to make her the heavy by the end of this episode to lock in the cliffhanger. I didn't have a problem with that.
Seriously, though, I don't want the captain to get mixed up in any romances. He's got bigger fish to fry.
