that I'd be pining for the return of a 2013 David Diehl.
For a little while, I was delusional enough to believe (although not confidently) that the front office knows what they're doing.
I'm officially in the "There is no way we don't suck ass this year" camp.
be discussing a trade for Alex Boone? This is pretty much a do or die year for TC, Eli and this entire coaching staff. Our O-line is clearly a huge problem and there is at least one guy available who could immediately and significantly upgrade it. How can JR not be on the phone working out a deal?
If we go into the season with what we currently have I will absolutely have lost faith in the front office's ability to properly field a team. Right now, in Reese I do NOT trust.
a) we spent a bunch of money and I guess are hoping that we are at some point going to get the player we paid for.. or that TC will play him where he was playing before
b) at the mid way point, who knows what our OL situation may be. injuries happen and depth could be critical for the rest of the way

How can you possibly no they have not talked?..How do you know that Reese did not call the niners? maybe he did and they said 1st round pick or no deal and reese said ok thanks but no thanks....
i hate when fans do this and just assume a team is not calling around trying to improve...i see it on draft day all the time where a team makes a trade back for a good haul and everyone freaks out because the giants didnt make the same trade..

how do you know that Reese has not already inquired? (you don't)
lots of reports indicate that the 9ers want a 1st or 2nd round pick for the guy. isn't it possible that Reese made a phone call, determined the asking price was too high and said "no thanks"?
with Herman coming back game 5 and Schwartz game 9, this could allow us to only carry 8 OL. Give the 8 guys we have a chance to gel and keep a couple of developmental guys on the PS.
If there's an available vet out there better than what we have we could him pick him up after week one when the contracts aren't guaranteed, but I doubt you'll find one. As it is, we're already likely to get rid of two (and possibly all three) of Brewer, Brown and Reynolds. Hell, even Mosley is on the bubble.
All four of those guys started NFL games last season. What credentials will the cut player come with?
These injuries always seem to take longer to heal. Why waste a roster spot for say 7 weeks, especially early in the season when they are still figuring things out.
But we do know that a 2nd round pick is acceptable when you potentially talking about a 3rd straight losing season and perhaps flushing the coaching staff out because of it. Eli isn't getting any younger and you would think JR would get that. If he did, Boone would have been brought in by now. At this point he would have minimal time to learn the blocking schemes and develop chemistry with the other linemen.
frustrated by the front office's lack of a sense of urgency. I think TC is too but isn't going to throw anyone under the bus. He's too classy for that.
If he winds up out of a job at the end of the season because of it I suspect he will be more vocal about it.
but at least roll the thinking around a little first, then feast if you choose.
We want to keep Eli,or whomever may be QB, upright, healthy, and alive; this OL has a 51% chance of not doing that.
If VC is our 'only receiver', and with this OL, he may not catch many passes this year anyway.
Why not a trade: VC for Boone. Yes it adds 1 more weapon to SF, but it gives SF an opportuntiy to dump a digruntled play, and more important the Giants a LG who can help Beatty, and Walton. Then when GS comes back, since he really seemed ineffective at LG anyway, put him at RG to help Pugh and Walton(not dumping on Walton in either case, just getting him help on both sides). The run game improves with power running, the pass game at least keeps Eli upright and with a little more time, and hopefully the receivers grow into the position/new O.
If WestonR is very effective at RG, it'll give TC some playing flexibilty. And since the Giants like verstaile OL, in case of in season injuries the 6 pack of Beatty, Boone Walton,Richburg, Pugh and Schwartz, plus Mosley, Jerry and_____ allow for versatility/creativity without going to the likes of a Brewer,Brown, or Herman.
Yes, I hate to offer up Cruz, but he's our only marketable asset. It's either that,or our QBs rollout every play to avoid death, or hope the OL comes around, or team potentially really sucks.
Have fun.
Onward.

seems a decent choice for a position of need.

Might save a spot for a fifth RB.

Trading Cruz or a high draft choice for someone who hasn't practiced all summer and who doesnt know our system will do more harm than good.
