Friday: RHP Jacob deGrom (6-6, 3.13) vs. RHP David Buchanan (6-7, 4.21), 7:10 p.m. ET
• With Daniel Murphy landing on the disabled list with a strained right calf, Herrera has been promoted from Double-A, where the 20-year-old Colombian was hitting .340 with 10 homers, 48 RBIs and nine steals in 241 at-bats. If Herrera shows he can succeed in the majors, that could make it easier for the Mets to justify trading Murphy this offseason.

For a moment, forget that his is underperforming. Flores hit about as well as you can in the minors...yet was benched in favor of Tejada most of the time until he was forced to play Flores consistently, finally.
Then he was stuck in the 8 hole and every minor leaguer that came up after him (Kirk, MDD, now Herrera, etc) always hit before him in the lineup...even if they were lesser hitters than flores in the minors.
At this poing, it's just funny how much Collins clearly despises Flores. TC has gone out of his way to put Flores on the pay-no-mind list. I hope Flores gets a fair shake somewhere else some day b/c it certainly won't happen under TC.
You are going to tell me that it is a good decision to trade away one of, if not THE, best offensive player on your team because we have some prospects that are playing well in the minors? I might be missing something, but none of the hot young prospects we've promoted have even sniffed Daniel Murphy's offensive production (nor have they sniffed what any of them were doing in minors). It's a major risk to assume that any minor leaguer will give you what Murphy has given the Mets. The chances are pretty f'n slim. For an offensive starved team, trading the best offensive player is pretty fucking dumb. Now if it's a matter of money (which it most certainly is) then that's a whole another issue that will keep the mets from ever being consistently good.
I've said this a million times before...winning ballclubs pay to KEEP a Daniel Murphy. Bad/mediocre ballclubs trade a Daniel Murphy away for prospects.

You say cheap, but it all depends on what kind of player(s) they can get back. I would agree with moving Murphy in a flash if it meant they could get a a certain package back.
Dan I am not sure any of us know what TDA's offensive upside is. I thought the article made some good points. If he is a 15-20 HR guy as a Catcher and potentially a 20-25 HR guy in the OF then it merits a discussion. Especially since he may be a Soriano backswing away from obscurity. I recognize that may be overstating the situation, but watching every game, the kid is taking an absolute beating back there and it concerns me.
Lowrie or Hardy
Murphy
Wright
Duda
Granderson
Lagares
D'Arnaud
Plawecki
That my friends is a bad team, potentially an awful one if D'Arnaud isn't passable in LF and/or Plawecki struggles don't care how good the pitching is.

Daniel Murphy is one of the top offensive second basemen in all of baseball and a hitting machine (still leads the NL in hits). I can deal with his defense or lol "awful" baserunning as long as the rest of the infield is playing good defense. Taking his bat out of this lineup (any lineup) is a HUUUUUGE hole to fill on a team with many holes to fill already. But it's a money thing...which really sucks. As will next season.

Amaro gave up on him in favor of the alimighty Ben Revere. Chalk another one up for Rube.
a Jason Bay sized hole in the lineup to kill rallies and prevent them from cutting him and eating the loss. The guy is done and we as Met fans will pay the price
