and it actually works. spent 2 1/2 months modeling and 3d printing it and a couple of nights assembling it. it worked as soon as I plugged it in. (i was quite surprised). you can see it at 3dprintedguitar.tumblr.com If anyone is interested, I intend to open source the files after some cleanup.
Just starting to learn to play guitar myself!
What material did you print the guitar with? ABS, PLA ?
Well you won't just use the printer for one guitar...You can make more of them, or thousands of other things...The mere fact he was able to do all of this from scratch is extremely impressive and is a perfect example of the power of these 3-D printers.
Well done.
I used a printer and pla plastic that my employer got for free. Printer was a makerbot replicator 2 made right in Brooklyn.
I was surprised how cheap you could get a neck and electronics off of amazon - $30 and $47
Even including plastic you can make one for well under $150
But the reason I did it was just to see if I could
When I finished I told my wife I needed a new project and she said "how about fixing the garage door"?
js: that is outstanding! Those printers have come a long way. See if your employer will invest in a bigger one so you can do the neck, next time.
Congratulations!
Thanks for sharing.
I used all three just because I wanted to learn and play with all three.
The original model of the 62 strat was from grabcad
Whats wild is that they are now using materials other then plastic to do this such as Concrete
I have a whole music program that would love to see this and perhaps expand on it.
GREAT project man. Kudos
Yes, but you're an idiot. So, there's that.
