Not for today though. Those would be conditional on successfully claiming someone. So you keep say Gaskins, and if you successfully claim someone tomorrow then you release him. Very likely with reserve OL and possibly RB. HAVE not seen much TE of note yet though.
Remember

that we can't use the short term IR designation today. Only for a player who is on the final 53. So we have to include Schwartz today. Think OL is:

Beatty.
Richburg.
Walton.
Jerry.
Pugh.

Schwartz, Mosley, Gaines, and Reynolds. Brewer and Brown are cut for now. Maybe bring one back, or a vet FA from another team after Schwartz goes on short term IR.
that Bennet Jackson

Today is just another day where I love BBI. Important moves being made by our team, and great analysis by posters.

I am very glad I sent my check to Eric last week, hopefully it was received in good order.

Thank you again Eric.

Just to clafiry and confirm: It is season-ending IR for Mario Manninham and Trindon Holliday. Injury settlements eventually likely.
I would still bet on 6 corners...

Did Holliday

Jackson and James but still keeping 6. I think they go with 5. We'll know soon enough.

Acid, I don't see any post saying that Brown, Brewer or Asper have been cut. Am I missing something?

about Jackson and Quarles.

I know he's only an UDFA and made some mistakes, but I really think Quarles has so much more upside than Kuhn. Hope they make it to PS.

No. There is none. Just my speculation on what I think will happen.
G/T Eben Britton cut by Bears.

I had him making it over Kuhn. Guess not. I think even at his age, someone will be interested in his services. And because he's a vested veteran, he doesn't have to pass through waivers.
I don't get all the guys who were swearing up and down at seasons end Kuhn was gone and so was Hillis.Staff said up and down they liked Kuhn. Dunno why anyone thought he was going anywhere.Iwouldm't have minded if they had cut patterson to keep him, cause Patterson made 2 plays in preseasonm, booth last night. Other than that he's looked awful.I see Hankins taking his starting spot before the Lions Game.
Am I nuts

To speculate that the short term IR designation may be used on beckham? Or is he really close?
Why couldn't they just cut MM and Holliday?

Walt Powell, Brittan Golden or John Brown. All 3 are smallish WRs with punt return experience. Could be a 6th WR

Guys like Quarles and Wynn (if cut) have very little info available for other teams to look at except preseason film. They aren't usually going to put guys like that on their 53 man roster. When was the last NYG rookie that got claimed at the final cut down or even claimed off the PS during the season. I remember one claimed off the PS a couple of years back but can't remember who it was.

Herzlich is safe I think

I think Wynn and Fenner have excellent chances to stick at this point.

Some of these surprise releases
Enoch : 8/30/2014 11:36 am : link
like Jackson might be to open the momentary roster spots the team needs for Schartz, Hermann, and Hosley to be on the 53-man roster before moving them to the suspended or designated-to-return-IR lists.

If the team thinks the risk of a waiver claim is low, you can make it up to the player with a nominal signing bonus when you bring them back.

If this refers to the Cards' Brown, I thought he was secure, but an article following their last game included him in the possible cuts, so I threw his name in

We need to save a roster spot for Schwartz because we can't use the short term IR for anyone who isn't on the 53. Not so for Herman and Hosley because they are on the suspended list.
Enoch
DavidinBMNY : 8/30/2014 11:44 am : link
No, For suspension you don't need to be on the 53. Schwartz may be predicated on vet FA pickups and activating Beason.

From all reports that I have read John Brown seems like their number three. Why would he be cut?
Maybe
Toth029 : 8/30/2014 11:49 am : link
He meant Jaron Brown.

There's two different Brown players at WR. John Brown is a rookie and is expected to vie for the third spot.
Unfortunately for Manningham,
j_rud : 8/30/2014 11:50 am : link
he's become a great example of just how quickly the fortunes of an NFL player can turn and how quickly an athlete can be robbed of what makes him special. Even before the famous Super Bowl toe drag he had made plenty of plays that put his athleticism on display. Anyone remember the bubble screen against Washington that he somehow managed to take to the house? He has some incredible skills. Then he cashes in on the hard work and success, technically goes home to join another contender where he's expected to be one of the missing pieces to get them over the hump and...poof...he's gone.

I hope everyone has the 2012 season on DVR because it was obvious then and many stated it: that was the best trio of receivers we had ever or are likely to see again.

My mistake. I reread the article and it's Jaron Brown, not John.

Exit 172 : 8/30/2014 11:56 am : link
that poorly written article that reads "popular players on the cutting line include Robinson, Hillis, and Manningham."

The article made it sound like they were cut.
Just hard to get a read on beckham
djm : 8/30/2014 11:56 am : link
If he's really close from being 100% healthy, which is hardly a lock, how far is he from being football ready? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? So at the earliest we are hoping to see beckham on the field by week 3.

Something tells me week 3 or 4 doesn't happen and is a pipe dream.
kuhn made the team?

Great day today! Now I'm ready for some #Wolfpack #football! @PackFootball start the season of right! #GoPack

Which is why I wouldn't be shocked if beckham is short term IRed
djm : 8/30/2014 11:58 am : link
If he isn't then I have to believe he's very very close to practicing. Like days close..which would be great.
I could certainly see them scouring the waiver wire for a TE...
Dunedin81 : 8/30/2014 11:59 am : link
it is a lock that someone better than at least one or two members of our current trio will be cut.
