and Sam has flashed this preseason, but he's more of a 3-4 guy and I don't see an upgrade over Wynn, who has practiced with this team for a couple months.
He wouldn't play them for us, either. He also isn't very versatile, you couldn't move him inside to DT, or out to OLB. Wynn or Stanton would be more valuable to us than Sam. My guess is he ends up on St. Louis' practice squad.
the unbelievable media attention/distraction about a player who is currently a bottom tier/PS caliber player. He gets more attention than any Rams draft pick.
You really want that media circus - in New York - around the Giants all year?
Or are you simply trying to paint me as something I am not? (My guess the later...but nice try).

If he has a better chance at playing than ODB? Yeah, who cares?
Either he performs or doesnt. I dont see the distraction.
Basically I am breaking your balls over your phrasing of "baggage". He has not be that much of a distraction, much less then anyone would have suspected. Agree with Ten Ton...
Hell, there are even reports on his showering habits this week. You think Coughlin wants to answer questions like that from Vacchiano, Schwartz, Fooch and company?

This. I don't think Sam has "baggage," and New York would be a good spot for him. But right now, I like Wynn better.
Sam will go somewhere if he gets cut. He's had a good preseason from what I've read. He just ended up with the team that possibly has the deepest DL in the league. They also have an undrafted rookie from West Texas A&M I think who has done well.
In Missouri, he has not been much of a distraction.
With that said I wouldn't mind having Sam or Ethan Westbrooks, the player he's in competition with for the last DE spot on the Rams, on this team.
I think Sam is a better player than his seventh rd value. I'm not saying he'll be All-Pro but he has the talent to play in the NFL. The Giants were one of the teams interested if he went undrafted and despite the NY media I think we'd be the right organization to deal with the extra attention, from ownership down to the locker room.
I like Westbrooks future even more though. JC route and then to a small college is what kept him from being drafted imo but with a year or two of coaching I think he's going to be an effective edge rusher. In two years at West Texas A&M he had 26.5 sacks and he lit up the East West Shrine game. He'd look good in blue.

I'd love to get Westbrooks, but if the Rams cut him, which I doubt, I bet someone claims him before us.

You're never concerned about the baggage, or character flaws, or anything they do off field, ever, so what else is new.

Fuck off troll.

Can anyone even name another team's cut 7th round picks ??
Cool it with the Michael Sam publicity ... I'm beginning to think he came out just to gain publicity and be in people's minds to give himself a better chance to make a team ...
judging from the support he gets here for no good reason ...
It seems he wan't good enough to make the Rams ... just like 20 or so other players they cut .. who no one here ur anywhere probably gives a crap about ...
Give ESPN more non football related fodder ...
It's not even his fault. What's going to happen if/when it's reported that another player (or worse, a teammate) calls him a homophobic slur?
It's something you probably would hear a few times per practice, but the first time it happens with Sam, the NFL will grind to a halt, and that's all anyone will talk about. Not even Sam's attempts to quell the professional outrage will be enough.
It sucks that a talented player like Sam might be denied a chance to play pro football for such stupid reasons, but that's the reality. The good news is, in 20 years, it probably won't be an obstacle to an openly gay player who wants to play in the League.

Really. Did you miss ESPN's story on showering about him. You must not follow the NFL other than here because there was literally all kids of coverage about him being on the bubble. What other late round pick has ever gotten as much scrutiny.
Secondly why would he better than Wynn. Who has been here all camp and the coaches know him. And he knows the system. I wish the kid the best like I wod wish any other kid who is trying to live his dream of making it to the NFL but he's not a guy at a position of need.
Shit of he can play TE then sign him but a fringe DE?

Sam had a pretty solid preseason from what little I could actually see.

There isn't a reason in the world to be looking at him.

Frankly at this stage, so does Mathias Kiwanuka look.
Not true and you know it. I am positive all of my posts are monitored closely.
I never agreed with the Beckham pick. That's all.

In New York, all bets would be off.
Still, I don't think the Giants would mind the circus if the guy could help the team, but it's very doubtful that he could.

He's PS material and one dimensional.

So why think about him? He's not an upgrade. Kiwi can drop into coverage and will dress on Sunday.
