Place to post and comment on other teams cuts
Example
Bears released G/T Eben Britton.
Britton battled a hamstring injury throughout camp. A 2009 second-round pick of the Jaguars, Britton played 239 snaps as a backup guard and tackle for the Bears last season. He is not a starting caliber player, but he is a quality backup. He should find a home.
Gilkey was a seventh-round pick out of Chadron State last year. He'd primarily been playing guard this summer. Gilkey had a solid preseason finale, but it wasn't enough to save his job as a versatile backup. He has good size at 6'6/315.
Scott made eight starts at guard for the Panthers last season. He once again had trouble with his conditioning in the spring and got beat out for a backup job behind projected starters LG Amini Silatolu and RG Trai Turner.
Bullough is the name from this list. An undrafted rookie, Bullough was a third-team All-American his senior year at Michigan State. The Texans would likely hope to stash him on the practice squad.
Frankly, I'm going straight for the TEs that shake loose and so far, no one has cut my eye except maybe Justin Jones and Ryan Otten.
Egnew lasted five days on the Lions' roster. Egnew has been a massive disappointment since the Dolphins made him the No. 78 overall pick of the 2012 draft. Despite the struggles, his pedigree will likely land him another chance.
Richardson opened 2013 as the starter in St. Louis, but cannot survive final cuts this time around. Only 24, Richardson should get some looks from running back needy teams. Richardson's release means Bilal Powell has made the roster.
The Browns didn't want to expose five-star talent Isaiah Crowell to waivers, so they make a surprising cut of a versatile player who can lead block, catch and run in a pinch. Now they only have raw rookies Terrance West and Crowell behind starter Ben Tate. It's good news for the projected catch total of Tate and West, as Ogbonnaya was thought to be headed for a third-down role. Dion Lewis was also cut Saturday.
Brown hasn't practiced since July 25, but is reportedly near full health. The Union-Tribune San Diego reports Brown "won't be on the Chargers' 53-man roster," so it sounds like he could end up getting released with an injury settlement. The No. 82 overall pick of the 2011 draft, Brown was an exciting prospect after catching 19 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, but was never the same after missing all of 2012 with a broken ankle. Brown moved like a tight end last season as he limped to a 41/472/1 line across 16 games.
They also placed CBs Mario Butler and Bobby Felder on I.R. Injury prone since his days at the University of Iowa, Moeaki got hurt early in training camp and missed the entire preseason. He'll probably get an injury settlement.
Eagles waived RB Henry Josey.
The Eagles may want to stash Josey on their practice squad, but he is a waiver claim candidate after averaging 6.6 YPC in the preseason and running 4.43 at the Combine. Josey is a dynamic if undersized change-of-pace prospect.
But no, Swoope never played a down of football, unlike Graham
Have to run for now will check back tonight.
Who would you release for him?
No history yet...Rams released DE Michael Sam. Prime practice-squad candidate.
This team has an anemic pass rush that was non existent in preseason.
No history yet...Rams released DE Michael Sam. Prime practice-squad candidate.
He made plays and was always around the ball. He will make it through waivers probably.
Richardson had one decent year with the Rams because Jackson got hurt and there was no one else...same thing looks to be happening with Stacy and the Rams...one year and done...
I like Josey but he is a prime PS not active roster candidate as he needs at least a year of work...
Immaterial. His value is as a situational pass rusher who plays 2nd and 3rd and long. Who cares if he can't ccontribute on specials. We need his pass rushing more than his lack of versatility.

That name banter all over BBI a few years ago. Total crapshoot.

And he has zero versatility.

A short, slow, unathletic DE who flashed against soon-to-be beer-truck drivers has very little value.
But it would be great if Francesa would have to talk about Sam's showering habits with the mongos.
NFLPA president need I say more
There will be 50+ WRs on the market that are better than Hill.
Hill may never have been anything special, but if ever there was a poster child for "nurture" over nature it is Hill. Circus of a locker room, awful QB play, zero veteran leadership on the offensive side of the ball. He hasn't helped his own cause, he has been unable to learn routes, but it's not a coincidence that most of what they touch turns to shit.
Product of the Baylor system. He isn't an NFL back. Looked pretty bad this preseason, rarely breaks a tackle and doesn't have the vision between tackles.
Is he a PR or KR?
It seems people are focusing on well-known names, which is often a mistake.

Also, and I don't know of this was mentioned already, but Winston was available during free agency as well. But they went for Brown anyway. That pretty much speaks volumes on how they feel about Winston.

Makes no sense. If he made plays and was always around the ball, why would you expect him to make it thru waivers>
Champ Bailey is no longer Champ Bailey. He was finished a year ago
AZ is among a few teams not publicly releasing their cuts yet
Apparently that was not the case
beatty and pugh are fine as starters

I don't know if it came out why, but he was suspended prior to the Rose Bowl. Maybe not the squeaky clean team captain type the Giants are looking for this year
They're not real happy with their OL, especially reserves, in AZ. Not sure we want any of their OL cuts. Maybe a WR

I thought he earned a spot on the Eagles with his play thus far...
Apparently that was not the case
Obviously. Thanks for the valuable contribution.
When did Hillis become Jim Brown?
AZ so far:
OLB Marcus Benard (story)
DT Isaac Sopoaga (story)
C/G John Estes (story)
WR Dan Buckner (story)
CB Bryan McCann (story)
S Curtis Taylor (story)
RB Jalen Parmele (story)
S Anthony Walters (story)
RB Zach Bauman (story)
He had played well as the preseason progressed coach Bruce Arians praised him Friday and he had a team-high 10 tackles against the Chargers but that was not close to a guarantee.
I did everything I could and at the end of the day I gave it my best, Carson said. Now its in the coaches hands. You can only control what you can control.
The Penn State product, at least for now, made the roster. The Cardinals got down to their 53-man limit Saturday with 20 cuts, a release with injury settlement for tackle Nate Potter (shoulder) and a move to injured reserve for safety Eddie Whitley (broken foot). Carson was one of 10 linebackers that remain.
The other 20 players released:
RB Zach Bauman
LB Marcus Benard
G Philip Blake
LB Jonathan Brown
WR Dan Buckner
C John Estes
DT Bruce Gaston
WR Brittan Golden
TE Andre Hardy
CB Jimmy Legree
CB Bryan McCann
T Kelvin Palmer
RB Jalen Parmele
DT Isaac Sopoaga
G Anthony Steen
S Curtis Taylor
LB Adrian Tracy
DT Christian Tupou
S Anthony Walters
CB Teddy Williams

Hillis is certainly replaceable...but Josey doesn't replace him on this roster. Not a shot.
to ps ....he tweeted that he was having treatment today...
So we can have Charlie Brown and Thigpen. Cool
There are a few....will be making a post tomorrow.
They've never said specifically what the suspension was. Rumor around campus - say my sources - was a DUI. But, that's rumor.
Still generally considered an excellent leader, and very good communicator. Saw a thing on BTN last night, a fellow LB said Max would text him at like 10 at night from the film room saying what they (Max and the teammate) needed to work on. Question is probably more size/speed than character.
T Carter Bykowski
TE Asante Cleveland
WR Lance Lewis
LS Kevin McDermott
CB Darryl Morris
G Al Netter
DL Lawrence Okoye
WR Kassim Osgood
T Michael Philipp
NT Mike Purcell
G Ryan Seymour
LB Shayne Skov
RB Alfonso Smith
G Adam Snyder
S C.J. Spillman
LB Chase Thomas
S Bubba Ventrone
WR LDamian Washington
RB Glenn Winston
I understand tackle Bykowski had a very good preseason; he HAS to be an upgrade over Brewer.
His blocking would need work but there are creative ways to use a player with his ability. I also like his work ethic. He's doing this after recovering from a horrific knee injury in 2011. Some may have given up after what he went through but he persevered. Good story if you get the chance.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Schwartz is on Temp IR yet. If he does go on then Josey could be the 4th RB without anyone getting cut and once on he'll stay. He would immediately become the fastest RB on the team and he's a playmaker.
CJ Spillman, too.
You can bet we'll have to live with guys like Charles Brown driving us nuts on Sundays.
You can bet we'll have to live with guys like Charles Brown driving us nuts on Sundays.
You're probably right.
Atl, Car, NO, TB, NY, Was, GB, Det, Chi, AZ, StL all have major questions on the OL and just in the NFC
The Eagles have questions on the right side, D. Free has looked awful for Dal
Brown as a b/u is that - a b/u.
Part of the reason there is more passing, and short passing is the poor nature of OL pass blocking
Quote:
Who does he replace on this roster? He isn't better than any of the NYG RBs.
When did Hillis become Jim Brown?
its not that chris, they fill totally different roles. Looks like josey is a scat /3rd down back and hillis is a plodder and someone you can grind to move the chains.
