Andre Williams or Hillis? I think Williams has been impressive I think he's earned that spot.. I'm thinking of picking up Williams as my 4th RB, he just doesn't catch the ball is the prob with him..
he will see very limited reps on the field until he learns to pass protect much, much better. Catching the ball out of the backfield is a distant second to blocking for a RB on the Giants.
It's like if hillIs plays twice as much as Williams it will be a total disappointment. Like Derrick ward taking all the snaps we wanted Bradshaw to take.
Jennings will absolutely be the bell cow, but Williams will absolutely get plenty of carries.
I see Hillis as more of a specialized back. A 3rd down back/goalline back/short yardage back.
I'm really not worried about Williams blocking ability. He is a big, physical, smart guy and blocked pretty well in the preseason.
The team would not have kept only 3 RB's if there were questions about any aspect of his game.
With that said, I would like to see the team look for a change of pace, explosive, homerun hitter type of back. They lost that dynamic when Wilson retired.

Vin, in order to get a RB like that, they would once again have to draft a kid in the first or second rounds. I doubt that will happen. And, RBs matching your description would probably not shake lose from their present team.
Because he has the NFL experience, can pass block AND catch the football. Williams will eventually replace Hillis (maybe as soon as the 5th or sixth game) simply because he's such an explosive big runner.
I'm really excited about this draft pick - how many times does a Doak Walker, 2000 yard runner from a NCAA Division I school become available in the 4th round ?!
Jennings is a good solid pro (glad we have him), but he doesn't have the natural tools Williams has; who knows, Andre may send him to the bench by the end of the year.
If he blocks well enough to play then he'll get the snaps that don't go to Jennings. If not, then Hillis will get those snaps. But, even if Hillis is playing more, that's only temporary - until Williams learns to pick up blitzers.
offense allows Williams to come in on non running plays. In the past, rookies in the backfield red flagged a running play. We're going to be unpredictable.

I think Jennings is going to do a lot of damage as a runner and especially as a receiver, but Williams will get his touches.

...next question.
