Since Jimmy left, he probably doesn't want to diminish his own legacy :)p
“I think the defense is much improved, much improved,” Jones said after the preseason finale. “Awareness, the player we’re going to ask to do the job, I think we’re much improved from the team that was on the field the last four games when we ended the season. This is a better defense.”
Just cannot get over the fact that Johnson built those great Cowboys teams of the early 90's not Jones. Since that core that Johnson built retired.. Cowgirls have done squat. Funny thing is that it was not until Jones turned over things to Bill Parcels that the Cowboys started to become a good team again... since Bill left.. oh well keep up the good work Jerry....
based on Jerry Jones' whim, what's so great about it? It's just Jerry Jones' circle-jerk. Was Jerry Jones the first Ring of Honor inductee? After putting in Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, and Emmit Smith, Jimmy Johnson should have been next, if this Ring of Honor was really about honoring the great Dallas Cowboys. If it's just who Jerry Jones like, then call it what it is, The Jerry Jones Likes Me Fanclub.
Even worse, what if Jones did make that promise to Johnson but, is now reneging on that promise in public so that the Cowboys' Ring of Honor gets more media attention?
on his part. Johnson was an amazing coach and talent evaluator during that time and should be recognized. Jones ego just won't allow him to do the right thing.
Squint would not even list Fran Tarkenton on his honorable mention quarterbacks for his all-time Giants team. He had about 5 guys mentioned so I guess Jerruh is not the first owner to bear a grudge. Maybe Switzer, his college teammate, will qualify. Without Haircut, Jones would be Dan Synder.

Their best year post-Jimmy/Aikman was actually the 2007 year with Wade Phillips and not Parcells.
That being said, not only was that a team mostly built by Parcells, but Parcells also overhauled the Cowboys scouting department and draft structure. The Cowboys have somewhat competent drafts and free agency moves due to the legacy Parcells left at Valley Ranch which still exists to this day.

Oh well, too bad...
