ODB and injury

Essex : 8/31/2014 5:37 pm
Does anybody know what is wrong with this kid? A hamstring injury for almost three months??? Seriously, people tear hammys and come back faster. I have tried to follow the drama, but what is the deal? He is not even a full go at practice yet, right?
no one knows

.
This is what happens when you try to come back too early
robbieballs2003 : 8/31/2014 5:41 pm : link
.
He tore it once..
RAIN : 8/31/2014 5:42 pm : link
tried to come back.. then tore it again. Its the only scenario that makes sense. He didn't miss much time at LSU, is high character, and a hard worker. Likely he or the team mismanaged the first injury in having him come back too quickly.
He aggravated the injury the day they had open practice for PSL owners
BlueHurricane : 8/31/2014 6:00 pm : link
You know............ The day they claimed he didn't. He basically set himself back a few weeks. It is truly unfortunate but he is going to be out at least a few weeks and even then is so far behind he won't help right away.

That practice (before he hurt himself) he was barely getting any reps. Then he finally got 1 and injured himself. This kid has had exactly one 11 on 11 rep all summer, is hurt and buried. Gonna be a while to get anything out of him unless he contributes immediately on punt return when he is healthy.
So basically the Giants are lying are stretching the truth..

I tore my hammy back in 89
LPete : 8/31/2014 6:21 pm : link
Not much you can really do. I tried to wing it as best I could to get playing time but my coach sniffed my issue out PDQ. This aw soccer btw; missed pretty much the entire Feb- May schedule
Even When OBJ
Trainmaster : 8/31/2014 6:28 pm : link
comes back, I fear his hamstring will be a "ticking time bomb", all season (especially as the weather turns colder).

I hope I'm wrong, but I can see him bouncing back and forth from playing a game or two to being "doubtful" for a few weeks to playing a game or two etc. all season.

I don't think he can be relied on to make many meaningful contributions this year. The "crack Giants medical staff" strikes again. Haven't we seen the same "old guy doctor with the formal hat" at the games for years?

With all the changes made after last year, does anyone know whether there were any meaningful replacements or additions in the training and / or medical staff?

Fortunately both his parents run track
Bill in UT : 8/31/2014 6:31 pm : link
so he knows how to prevent hamstring problems
Didn't Nicks

Come late to the season for similar reasons and contributed a huge amount down the stretch?
the irony in ODB
kepler20 : 8/31/2014 7:03 pm : link
Is that we pushed up Martin and/or Donald in order to draft him.

Another dopey Martin post. Is it totaly lost on the Martin folks that we drafted a guard/center in the 2nd round that has been getting great notices all preseason and is currently our starting LG. Was Martin going to be better than that? And Donald (who I wanted and was wrong about and am glad to admit it) has done little for Da Bears.

That may have something to do with the fact he plays for the rams.
I'm hoping he has the Steve smith rookie season...
bradshaw44 : 8/31/2014 7:50 pm : link
And comes back late season during our run and throws teams completely off.

Wishful thinking?

sounds like odel may be while...they should have rested him
He tweeked again..doing returns in practice...tc needs to
forget him as returner this year...he'll rip his leg
Becky's got a hammy
Bill in TN : 8/31/2014 8:01 pm : link
and probably effectively done for the year. S chris something or other drives his car into a concrete abutment - finished. Randle can't put it together after 2-3 years here.

Please don't draft any more LSU trash.
Enough of the "Becky" Crap

It has nothing to do with toughness. You don't play through a hamstring injury.

You tape a Hammy and play. It hurts more when u walk then when u run. It seems to me Becky is soft! This is almost as bad as some ones Ass not to long ago. I'm sure you know who I mean.
Lots of dumb on this thread

. So we sign Schwartz, Walton and Jerry and then draft Martin and Richburg. So glad Reese runs this team.
our medical staff is shit
SHO'NUFF : 8/31/2014 9:27 pm : link
first, they let David Wilson back, even if one more hit could paralyze him...then, ODB practices when not fully healed...then now, come to find out perennial All-Pro DT Marvin Austin had a back issue and should've been paralyzed!!! Did we hire the staff from Philadelphia during the offseason??
Beckham and Wilson
deadkurtrulz : 8/31/2014 11:12 pm : link
Reese sure knows how to draft explosive offensive players that stepped right in and made the Giants the offensive force they are now. They both came to camp and dominated from day one. Eli is so lucky.

Do you ever stop with the stupid? Honestly, it's getting really fucking old reading your bullshit nonsense.
I am less irked about the hammy specifically
BlueLou : 9/1/2014 1:50 am : link
Than I am about whether or not OBJ has enough size to be a dominant WR in this league. At slot 12, he ought to be a better WR than Nicks was at his peak. We won't know that for 2-3 years though, so let's chill for a bit. We really have zero idea yet how OBJ will perform at the NFL level, and the fact that Eli is at least somewhat knowledgeable about him from his passing academy is reassuring.

This is a joke right? You tape a hammy and play.. Sure if your playing softball and theirs a keg in the dugout. When you have to separate from elite athletes, it's different.

Yes. I do expect him to be a Dez Bryant type of WR though if you spend the #12 pick. Anything less is a bad selection in this strong draft.
I didn't like the pick on draft day, but that said, you can't blame
Victor in CT : 9/1/2014 1:03 pm : link
the player for getting hurt. I was all for and drafting OL in going George Young and drafting OL in the 1st and 2nd rounds. I hope Beckham becomes a great player, but I still think OL should have been the priority.

Stupid Reese. He should've known that David Wilson would suffer a career-ending injury in his second year. I'm sure you did, right? I'm sure you wrote a post about it on draft day 2012, didn't you? Didn't you?

And he also should have known that a guy who never missed a game in college due to injury would get hurt in OTAs and miss a whole summer of practice. After all, you did, right? You knew before Beckham got hurt that he would get hurt and you posted about it, right? Right?

If the answer to both questions is yes, then I shall rename you Nostradamus.

If the answer to both questions is no, then shut the fuck up.
