Theory why most teams haven't filled the PS

DavidinBMNY : 9/1/2014 7:25 am
.most teams aren't satisfied with the 53 they have
.without evaluating players via tryout teams weren't ready to claim players off other teams
.making moves for vested vets vs. cheaper young players to the actual 53 can have a meaningful financial difference and a number of teams have little cap room although some teams will free up room via injury settlements (NYG w/ Holliday and Manningham).

What does this theory mean for NYG? Not much other then I would expect a very active FA tryout window the first few weeks.

Which players currently on the roster could go to the PS if moves were made? Washington, Stanton, Parker?

squad is a journeyman's existence. You get decent pay as you wait for the word from your current team or get a call from somebody else. All the while you dread getting released from your current PS so you have to keep your game face on. The next two weeks are transitory, as you state. Rosters will then tend to adjust mainly as a reaction to injuries, players coming off the short-term IR, reinstatements from suspensions, etc. I expect quite a bit of movement from the Giants this season concerning the last 5-8 spots on the roster. There are too many flat tires on this first 53 for there not to be.

With guys like Brewer and Parker on the roster and likely dressing I could see both cut when better players are healthy.
I would not put Washington

In that list of on the bubble guys. I think he is here to stay. Why would you think JJ is not? What has he done in 2- 3 years?

Here's a look at transactions between the Dallas loss in week 1 and week 2 of last season. None of these moves were earth shakers, but they are just more evidence of the possibility of making roster moves within the next two weeks.

9/12 LB Allen Bradford claimed off of waivers from Seahawks
9/12 LB Dan Connor placed on injured reserve
9/12 WR Marcus Harris signed to practice squad
9/12 OT Steven Baker practice squad contract terminated
9/10 RB Brandon Jacobs signed as a free agent
9/10 LB Emmanuel Acho signed to practice squad
9/10 WR Marcus Harris practice squad contract terminated
9/9 WR Ramses Barden contract terminated from IR/injury settlement
9/9 DE Adewale Ojomo waived
