I don't think you understand this game. The Giants are not going to suddenly find a great player sitting out there. You're not going to see a splashy move unless there is a trade(highly unlikely).
The Giants, with the exception of a few minor moves, are going in to Detroit with what they have. A new left tackle isn't dropping out of the sky.
Asper is versatile, having played both guard and tackle at Oregon, and buffalo bills made him learn to play center. He is a very large fellow who seems to work hard and want to learn to help his team. I'd take him over Brown and Brewer any day of the week.

He's been cut 4 times in 2 years, 5 if you count us. I'm sure he's a lovely guy. But I don't see this signing as mattering. The brass didn't think he was among the top 10 guys on a lousy OL. He'll probably be gone when Herman comes off the suspended list.
He probably could, but do they want to risk him getting injuried? They could always do what they did with Ryan P.; find an athletic QB for 3rd string, cut him on the weeks we aren't playing an athletic QB, and resign him the weeks we are
an athletic QB for practice squad probably won't be necessary. Outside of RGIII in week 4, there really isn't a true athlete QB in the first 8 games.
Maybe in November when we have Seattle and SF back-to-back, that might be a consideration, but not now.
Besides, a number of QB's who fit that description are on the open market now, and it is quite likely there will be the Giants choice of practice squad athletic QBs in November.
I agree with the poster who said the more likely outcome is that the Giants will sign a vet or two after week one, and want to move some active roster guys to the practice squad.

agree it is going to take more than one draft/ offseason to fix the drafts that Reese has blown. 2014 looked good to me, we need more of those and less drafting to prove I;m smarter than everyone else, right now, from the Pauliebunker, drafting Beckham was a waste, would rather had a LT there, so we could dump Beatty next year, but if Beckham becomes what we hope he does, then its a good pick. My point is, make good solid, no sexy move picks , keep stocking up on the Lines and you can be competitive for a while, stop doing that and you cant run the ball, your QB gets killed, you defense gets over worked and you lose the ability to control the clock
His pass blocking left a lot to be desired, but he's versatile and has size. And I think he looked better than Brown during the pre-season. What I don't get is why we haven't signed a TE to the PS. Reese and the coaching staff can't be confident enough in our current TE mess that they won't at least sign a TE to the practice squad.

If a LT did drop out of the sky, hopefully they would land on either Brown or Brewer though...

Ha! It's not a good situation but it is what it is.

That's fine. I don't think a body for practice deserves more than a yawn :)

True of every player signed to every PS in the league. What's so silly is you obviously expecting something different.
I almost wish we had a fourth QB in camp and had him there just for practice purposes.
