Will Odell Beckham practice this week? "I doubt that very much," Coughlin said. "He may be a couple, three weeks away."

Tom Coughlin just went on rant telling media to back off Beckham story. May be weeks before he can play #giants

Coughlin also said he went to Beckham recently and said "lets not have another setback." So that means there was a #setback?

My GUESS would be that TC feels he came back too soon last time
So put him on temp IR
ChicagoMarty : 9/1/2014 11:26 am : link
And sign Stephen Hill to be the zone stretching deep threat that Beckhams was supposed to represent or get used to trying to run against 9 in the box !

Think we'll see Beckham late in the year unfortunately.
wonder what grade tear he has..or seems to have

Possibly?
I bet we don't see him until after the bye.

Tom has.

Give Reese a do over and let him pick Cordy Glenn and Martin instead of Wilson and Beckham. We would have a great OL and the same skill players we have now.

I hope so..Could be ENTIRELY different situation, but when I think hammy with a WR, I think Miles Austin..No matter how long he was put on the shelf, he almost always managed to re-tweak, shortly thereafter

With the open practice for PsL holders?

There was a thread this weekend that made it seem like they brought ODB out for a show and he hurt himself during that practice.

Comments?
When Preston Parker made it,

I figured Beckham wasn't close.
Not certain I have posted anything on Beckham before
Jimmy Googs : 9/1/2014 11:39 am : link
but this situation is simply ridiculous at this point.

This hamstring injury began on June 3rd, so its been 3 months and now we learn he will likely be out a 4th month.

Not out of line to wonder whether he will be able to make it thru an NFL game this season even if he did somehow get on the field.

yikes.

There is no one on temp IR until tomorrow. Schwartz may be close enough to keep him on the active list. If so, they could temp IR Beckham.

We will be lucky to win one game this year....
Dry Lightning : 9/1/2014 11:56 am : link
I don't think we will score more than 10 points a game.
This is what would have happened

if the Giants chose to ignore the WR position in the draft. We are really thin at WR now.

He was for the most part on the side during the whole practice. When they went to 11 on 11 he was sitting out for about half the reps. He finally came in and on his only rep caught a crossing route. Turned upfield and at the end of the play came up lame. Wasn't touched. Wasn't running full speed. Just went to slow down and took a little hop step and limped off. Sat on the side on one knee for the rest of practice. He definitely aggravated the injury. In Coughlins defense he did not go to off to the trainers or bring any attention to himself so that may very well be why they are stating there was no "setback"
Eff Beckham
blueblood'11 : 9/1/2014 12:11 pm : link
Another first round pick stuck in the weeds. Sad thing is he was a flash when he got his Hans on the ball at LSU. Nothing against Beckham but I really thought they should have gone offensive line or tightend. How much of a contribution will Beckham make if any at all this year. You have to wonder if there isn't a black cloud hanging over the Giants and first round draft picks.

Eric from BBI : Admin : 9/1/2014 12:12 pm : link
It wasn't Tom who said that...Tom didn't even know about the "injury"...Beckham told Reese who told Hanlon that he was fine.

Then all the next week, the Giants said "no setback."

Pure bullshit.

Begins to sound like the Giants may never be able to rely on this guy -- this season or ever. The comments about the continuing nature (that is, recurrence) of hamstring injuries to WRs are worrisome. Tell me that this is nonsense, please.

Yes. Makes perfect sense. Rookie hurts his hamstring and therefore we will never be able to rely on him. Ever.

Jesus Christ on a cracker.
I like how personal
Headhunter : 9/1/2014 12:27 pm : link
people take it that he had the nerve to get injured, how dare he deprive me of my entertainment! I hate you Beckham you owed me something
You can tell who has played sports and suffered an injury
kickerpa16 : 9/1/2014 12:27 pm : link
and who hasn't.

Play with a groin or a hamstring, and then come back and call him a China Doll, She, or Becky. Putzes.
Just IR the kid
Giants2012 : 9/1/2014 12:28 pm : link
He missed all the OTA's, Training camp practices, 5 preseason games and still is out for most of Sept.

He's so far behind.
and Coughlin could well have said that
Peter from CT : 9/1/2014 12:34 pm : link
to get the press to back off the story. He could be playing next week for anyone knows. He has to heal. That isn't completely predictable.
eric
SBlue46 : 9/1/2014 12:42 pm : link
I recall reading here when he practiced for couple
days they had him running punts...
he should have been 100% and if he heals
let someone else play st's..
This blows
mrvax : 9/1/2014 12:42 pm : link
I was really looking forward to Wilson having a big year and I wanted to see how talented he really was. Now he's gone for good.

Then Beckham gets injured enough to keep him out of camp & regular season games. If you look at our WR corps you can now see why Reese decided to go WR with the #12 pick.

Without Beckham, the offense has to hope one of these guys can step up. Maybe Washington?
Everyone but Reese knew

Beckham was hiding a serious hammy. Percy will confirm.

Proof what I've been writing about TC and Hanlon was true. I guess the writers today bit the bullet and banded together to bug TC and Hanlon about their guy whose played zero preseason, zero training camp, but is confident were going to be the best offense in the league. While he misses the first 6 games.

Just short IR him and let him get 100%.
We all know that medical science is exact.
kickerpa16 : 9/1/2014 12:47 pm : link
There are definitive steps to follow for each type of injury, and that doctors are true rivals; they never consult with each other.

Hence, any setback (or bringing a player back too early) is the sole fault of the medical staff.
SBlue46, the question isn't
bob in tx : 9/1/2014 12:50 pm : link
whether they are getting proper treatment. The question is why does the medical staff insist on giving improper treatment?

Ronnie Barnes has been intimidated since 1985
Headhunter : 9/1/2014 1:03 pm : link
Joe Morris remembers the conversation between the trainer and coach Bill Parcells. Bill goes, I need him back in the game. And Ronnie just goes, No, he goes into the game when I say he does and when the doc says he does, Mr. Morris recounted, still in awe. Now, you gotta have a set of stones to tell Bill Parcells that.

They lied about the original injury.

Generally speaking most NE teams have the best medical professionals.

I dont know how good or
dep026 : 9/1/2014 1:43 pm : link
how good ODB will be. I do know that this year may be a wash for him though. If TC said 2-3 weeks, it may easily be 4-6 since hammies are such an unknown injury. IMO, if he is 99.9% healthy when the bye comes around, I would prefer just to IR him because he isnt in playing shape, he doesnt know the offense, his timing is most likely off.

Not there is anything wrong with a red shirt year for him, but as days go on, my anticipation of him playing this year dwindles.
