On the goaline for Miami. Should have taken a shot.
I'm liking this Perryman

Is Kayaa just young and nervous or does he always throw short/low?
Patrick77 : 9/1/2014 9:42 pm : link
I get that he is under constant pressure, but he is short arming and/or throwing short on his throws pretty consistently.
kaaya
ItsShowtime2 : 9/1/2014 9:54 pm : link
miami oline isn't helping him..he has no time to throw and there has been terible play calling
Miami has no confidence in this
BigBlueDownTheShore : 9/1/2014 10:09 pm : link
Kid. They have to have a better play call then hand it to Duke or his sub every play. They are going to setup the play action at this rate.
Perryman is an absolute beast
Anakim : 9/1/2014 10:21 pm : link
Undersized or not, the guy is a stud
Perryman

all aboard the Cane wagon for a while? I could've sworn he would boast that "The U is back" after every victory, after having attended the school himself. If I'm mistaken I apologize to NJFG

Yesterday was a lazy day & watched 'The U' again for the first time since it aired 5 years or so ago. It's amazing how far Miami has fallen. I know they had that nice little run with Corker, but they have really fallen on lean times in the past decade or so.
Miami has had alot more competition over the years
mgreenie03 : 9/2/2014 8:39 am : link
With the emergence of some of the smaller schools in the area, Miami hasn't been able to get the talent like before. Its not just UF, FSU and Miami anymore. Schools like FAMU, FIU, UCF, USF all taking talent from Miami and the others.

It does make for some really good competition within the state for recruiting.

I don't think
Rflairr : 9/2/2014 9:13 am : link
you can go to crazy if you're a Canes fan. People really don;t realize just how great a job Strong had done at Louisville. He's great coach and more than anything a heck of a developer of talent. Louisville is stacked. I expect the Canes to be much better against other ACC teams. They're only mistake is not getting Strong before he went to Texas, considering how many connections he has to South Florida. Word is the HS coaches there love him. Would have been a HR.

Total BS. Shannon had some top recruiting classes. So has Golden. He's a shit coach.

According to Rivals Golden had the # 12 ranked class last year 2014. Lousiville 40th

2013. Miami 20th. Louisville 52nd
2012. Miami 9. Louisville 42nd.
2011. Miami 36 Louisville 29th
2010. Miami 16th Louisville 48th.

So in the last five years except for 2011 in all of D1 Miami has gotten kids that pretty much were offered by major programs everywhere and could have gone to just about any school they wanted.

Louisville hmmm. Not so much. Neither Shannon nor Golden are good head coaches. Strong did a very good job and Petrino despite being a total pile of shit is a better coach in his sleep than Golden. Is what it is. It's not talent that's holding Miami back.

refuses to go to the lengths that other programs will. Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

They can do a lot better then Golden though. Probably won't.

RIP Miami Athletics.
a lesson everyone in the NCAA needs to learn

Never hire a former Al Groh assistant as your head coach. Al Golden is actually the best of that crew, as the other ones were Ron Prince and Mike London.
I readily agree it isn't talent holding back the Canes.
Patrick77 : 9/2/2014 12:50 pm : link
They clearly aren't as talented as they were in their heyday but they routinely get top 10 and top 20 recruiting classes and end up outside of the top 25 and probably top 50 football teams each year.

The defense looked stout at times last night. The offensive line, blocking in general, Kaaya, and the gameplan were putrid IMO.

I get that Duke Johnson can be a huge threat on every play and isn't a bruiser... But they would have been better served to run between the tackles every play get 1-4 yards than consistently get denied the edge against a defense that was much faster and aggressive than their offense. Every time Miami pulled a lineman or ran outside the play looked doomed. Kaaya got hit almost every play and couldn't hit anyone at chest height or in stride.

You don't have to drag your selves into the muck like some programs. There's plenty of talent on your roster. That D'Onfrio still has a job is an issue. Change coaches in last nights game and the scores are easily reversed. Now Miami wouldnt sink to the level of hiring a Petrino but Miami is a very good job. U guys need a new coach or it won't change.

Al Groh got promoted above his ability level when he was made into a DC when Belichick left the Giants.

You have to be able to develop talent. Thats what Strong did there. So the rankings don't tell the whole story. I mean he had three first round picks. Pryor was a 3 star. And Smith was a 2 star QB. Its not just about getting the highly rated talent. Gotta coach them
I don't dispute that talent
LauderdaleMatty : 9/2/2014 3:44 pm : link
needs to be developed. Golden and Shannon before him showed none of that. And again, both IMO are just not great coaches either.

Meyer certainly doesn't always develop talent but the guy knows how to use it. Not every great college player becomes an NFL player though.

The best coaches seem to have won at every level and succeed even when they have lesser talent. Both Brian Kelly and Meyer won at every level. Petrino as well.

The last two UM coaches have been able to get talented kids but either don't develop them or build a winning system. This is Golden's fourth season. Lots of excuses about NCAA regulations and sanctions but compare him to Bill O'Brien who did a better job with a huge mess at Penn St.

I think Golden did Kaaya a disservice by starting the young kid. I know the offensive line looked bad, but when you have a veteran QB, it opens up the playbook, and it keeps the defense from crowding the line of scrimmage. Kaaya was clearly a dear in headlights. He may end up being a good or great QB, who knows, but it seemed clear to me he wasn't near ready.
