I'm moving in 2 days and the kitchen is all packed up, plus I've got a gift card. I know how much some of you love OG. I haven't been there for a few years. What do you recommend? Other than going someplace else, that is :)
I love the Olive Garden. It's great. Bring your own ingredients, ask them to cook for yourself in their kitchen, then bring it out to your table and you'll have a great meal.
Otherwise... stick to salad and breadsticks. Maybe a chicken parm.. they can't fuck that up too bad, can they??
to be honest i have never been but my mother had a gc once and the one thing that was recommended to her was the alfredo sauce, she had some leftover she brought to me, it was bad but not terribly bad
Just because you're all too high and mighty to eat Prego with chunks of extruded chicken reheated in a plastic bag doesn't mean the rest of us shouldn't enjoy it.

Darden owns OG and its their worst brand. Long Horn is OK. Season's 52 and Yard House IMO are both very good. Just drink at Yard House. Capitol Grille if you want to put socks on.
But he don't let me stop you from enjoying that authentic Italian cuisine.
From what I can find, they have the same owner and a situated in different parts of the country. Apparently the menus are not the same, but there are similarities

I didn't say I wouldn't eat there.
I just wouldn't recommend it to someone else.
Hehe, you've missed these threads in the past, haven't you?
Bill there is a seafood soup on the menu that is outstanding
i never ever would go to Olive Garden being an Italian cook but had to once after a funeral. I ordered the soup and was really surprised how good it was.
I suspect either the horniness actually happened, or else you're lying in bed now with a big lump in your stomach, a parched mouth, and greasy fingers. Probably the latter.
so i'm just getting to this now. Yes, Oi, sad to say it is the best Italian food around. And no, I didn't drive. I got the Tour of Italy- chicken parm, lasagna and fettuccine alfredo. And the breadsticks. I'd give the chicken about a 7.5, the lasagna a 5.5 and the fettuccine a 6. Serviceable, if not great.
but this kind of shit is what makes wading through Yelp painful at times.
I have to figure out if reviews are based on the actual food or the expectations of it. you know how many people will say, "I paid $10 for a steak at Golden Corral and it was mediocre". No shit.
People want to go into any restaurant and think they are dining at Le Bernadin, even if the place offers Gorditas and a Happy Meal.
Olive Garden is what it is. A mid-priced place to go in a pinch with family when you don't want to blow $150 on kids who will not be impressed with a high-end place. It has its purpose.
it's like you've been to venice.....and drank dirty canal water and pissed it out your ass.
in all seriousness OG is my one of kids favorite restaurant, she loves the breadsticks, and unlimited soup and salad. I don't mind taking her once in a while and I get the same thing. the tuscan sausage soup isn't bad.

Never been to a Season's 52, but I think Yard House is pretty awesome. They have a scallop dish that is very, very good.

Is that the same as an "Around the World?"
Yes I am :) Am I'm looking forward to Carl's Jr for breakfast Thursday, and a Jimmy Johns hero for the car
I'm sorry if I didn't mention it, but I'm going with my wife
I think they're the same thing, just a different name in different places

I'm halfway to bombed and haven't left the house yet. It's just 6 Mountain time. But it was 5 o'clock here.

Even in CA, the Italian food is mediocre, for the most part.
And the issue is?
Yeah, and what's the problem with that?

I'm not sure, Al. Is there a KFC nearby that you can bring ketchup to?

Perfectly stated.
Isn't that the only OG in the Metro area that you HAVEN'T tried?
