"Giants preview: The last stand for Eli and Coughlin?"

unrevealing article. Predicts 8-8 finish which is the safest call with all the unknowns. It will be an interesting season.

I don't think Coughlin & Eli are on their last stand however. The Giants would probably give them 2015 if 2014 had anything good happen.
Seems like a realistic assessment to me.

Lots of question marks heading into the season. A successful season to me would mean continuous improvement and a strong finish with the new offense looking like it has been successfully implemented by seasons end. I don't expect playoffs. I expect a slow start.
I don't see this team as bad as everyone makes it out to be

I think this defense is light years better than where it was this time last year. I think the run game can be special. You know what makes an offense versatile? A strong ground game.

I think anyone who thinks they know what the offense is going to be like on Monday is kidding themselves. Gone are the days of Gilbride using the first quarter to get defenses to show their hand so THEN he can attack it. If the Giants can dink and dunk their way to the 10-6 the playoffs and virtual lock for the Hall of Fame for Coughlin, Reese and Eli hang in the balance.

They don't seem to have the horses at receiver to do what they want

My guess is they lean heavy on running the ball as much as they can until the bye when they start to work Beckham into the O.

I think this offensive line comes around and gels by midseason into a good unit.
I'm not sure how much

we can lean on the run when everyone knows we'really going to run?! Still have to have some semblance of a passing attack and that is what will kick us in the balls early on.
His assessment of Eli is harsh

In a Schwartz article today:

"Coming out of one preseason game without a completion and leaving another with zero passing yards turned Manning into a punch line. Thanks for the two Super Bowls, Eli, looking forward to sticking your name up on the Ring of Honor, but you’re old news."
