but it is funny to hear the outrage over the fact that the Giants haven't sorted things out yet, as if its Thanksgiving or something. It's not impossible that we go out there and score 30 points on Monday night.
Recognizes it's a clean slate, knows it's a never-ending process and it's a long season, and feels the team is growing every day. Pretty much hit every box on the cliche checklist.
the Oline is the sieve people make it out to be. I saw some encouraging things that I hope carry over. I'm not expecting Eli to be running for his life. Will he get hit? Yes, Will he get sacked, probably. Will he have time to make most of his throws? yes. Will the running game work? I'm not sure
Running McAdoo’s version of the West Coast scheme, the Giants’ first-team offense mustered just two touchdowns in five preseason games. Even that was misleading, considering one score came on a 73-yard run by Rashad Jennings and the other was just before halftime against a collection of mostly Jets backups.
Weren't the Jets' defensive starters still playing into the 3rd quarter?

Shhhh(yes)
Ehhh...most of us kinda thought the offense would start slowly... Â
I only hope he doesn't call for a moving pocket much. Eli has never thrown well when asked to do so from a moving pocket. IMO that is Eli's one glaring weakness and should be avoided.
The fact that the blocking was a thing of beauty Â
the lack of offensive weapons is at least as much of a concern as the Oline....although, the running game seems vastly improved....just gotta hope they can scheme these guys open and pound the ball.
He had a couple interviews lined up after he came in for the Giants job and didn't even end up meeting with those interested teams, instead "jumping" at the offer here.
(Which honestly may prove a mistake by him, in terms of his future, given how bare the offensive talent cupboard here looks to be right now.)
isnt installinbg the new O, its installing the new O behind a cobbled together inferior O line and expecting Eli to solve everything.
--> What exactly do you think he's going to solve? Do you think he elevates those around him? No. Do you think he is elusive if there is pressure? No. Do you think he can understand when a play isn't there and live to see another down (no he turns it over with bad decisions or inaccuracy and fumbles it often when hit).
Seems like McAdoo is under intense scrutiny by fans and media. I hope he's up to this task. Seems like he is. If the Giants come out of the gate hot, all will be well. If not...

HH - actually, it's the running game I feel MOST confident about going into the season... based off of the preseason anyway.
The majority of coaches that rise to that level usually have pretty thick skin and a high level of self confidence in their abilities. The last think I am worried about is him being able to handle it emotionally.
that the Packers denied requests to even interview McAdoo from other teams the last 2 years before the Giants hired him. He certainly didn't come from obscurity. Teams in the NFL were after him and definitely knew about him and Rodgers raved about the guy
To wear those two big fatforks in the middle down. Going right at them will be silly and we may not make any hay right away because they are both so quick but if our D can hang in there, this is a defense we can wear down with 2 big backs.
Took some liberties with that article. First of all the touchdown was against the Jets starters. Additionally, he made it sound as if TC implied he would help him with the play calling. What he said was he would help if asked and he would not interfere. He said if he had any concerns he would speak to McAdoo between series. The writer needs to get his facts straight.
is a guy as fast & explosive as Percy Harvin was last night . He's not gong to be there. Plays are plays. Put somebody else in there in place of Harvin last night & Seattle would have been lucky to get 33% of the production. Guy was easily the best player on the field last night. Better than the quarterbacks. Than Bennett, Matthews, Sherman, Chancellor. Who is McAdoo's Harvin? If he had one he could counter a second player with him. The Giants are trying to bridge a talent gap. The system & the play calling are secondary.

31 other teams have the same dilemma-no Harvin..Of course and unfortunately, what's the over/under for games missed by PH?

This is correct this article is trying to stir up sh/t. with that BS.
preseason, a QB rating of 72, compared to this years QB rating of 70, and then went out in the opener and completed 65% of his passes for 450 yards and 4 touchdowns.
That post shows that you missed the whole 2011 season. That's ashame, the Giants won the super bowl that year! You should watch as many games of that season as you can since you obviously missed it....
The OL was bad last year but it had a lot to do with Â
The lack of talent at the rb position. But the media and everyone else just wants to focus on the supposed lack of talent and name power along the OL heading into week 1. We have three pretty stable looking positions along the OL, but LT and RG are somewhat questionable. The way some talk the entire OL is a compete disaster with no talent at all.
It's never one thing that sinks an offense and it wasn't the OL that sunk this offense last year. To say it was is just lazy in my view.
Just like the OL wasn't the biggest problem with the mid 90s giants. Scott gragg actually played well in San Fran after leaving the giants but when in NY he was everyone's favorite whipping boy. One good good rb with no QB or passing game didn't help matters.
We haven't looked amazing in preseason, but we didn't look outstanding last year either. We finished 7-9 last year and the offense sucked and we struggled all around. The team can't be any worse then last year.
Ridiculous atempt by the media to create a story here... Â
"McAdoo also didn’t have much interest in responding to Coughlin’s ominous comment Thursday that he wouldn’t be afraid to say something about the play-calling during games if Coughlin feels the “need” to do so."
Idiots. Every head coach would give the same answer TC gave when he was asked the question. The HC always has input on allthe teams and of coarse the athority to overule any of his coaches. It was a stupid question to TC and again to BM.

"Cobbled together inferior O line?" A 1st round pick, two 2nd round picks, a 3rd round pick, and a 4th round pick. That's some cobbling right there, boy howdy.
And who's expecting Eli to solve everything? The expectation should be that others will step up, too.
Several of McAdoo’s players said they agree that practice recently has been a lot more encouraging than the five preseason games were.
Holy crap! What does that say? And that's with an extra game....
He was what????

Wasn't McAdoo considered one of the top OC candidates at the end of last year?
He was a TE coach and qb coach, not an OC.....he has to start somewhere....just wish he had more experience...
McAdoo was being sought after by a few teams.

Obviously, he thought this was his best opportunity....would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when he explained to the Mara's and Coughlin, what his offensive philosophy for this team would be.....for someone with no experience, and having to replace Gilbride's system, he had to be a pretty good talker to convince them.........we will soon see if it translates onto the field.....
Has talent. It will take some time for pure cohesion IMO. The running game should help set up the pass. My main concern with our offense is the lack of a deep threat and that not one of our TE have truly stepped up. Kellen Davis is the only TE to score during the preseason and he is not on our roster. The screen game is not Eli's strength but could keep him alive if he improves at it.
I'm not thinking we will be horrible but I believe it will take some time to jell.
May have been in the game late in the 3rd QTR, but that doesn't change the fact that their front four treated our starting O-line like rented mules for most of the 1st half. The only guy that looked good was Pugh. There is good reason for concern. That said, I think the McAdoo hire was the right one, and he is the guy to fix it. But don't expect a miracle right away. We need to survive the first half of the season by hopefully going no worse than 4-4, and by then we may have things worked out much better, and can go on a 2nd half run.
Three out of the five had injuries last year.....We sign a free agent guard to play out of position....then he gets hurt....we drafted a future center, who has to play left guard, out of necessity....we were counting on Snee? Then have had a merry go round of players for RG....
This starting line was not out there just 3 weeks ago....so it has been cobbled together in the last two weeks, out of necessity....we have no choice....this is what we have to work with....to expect 5 guys to play together in just two weeks, is not reasonable.......they may work out....but it's not going to happen over night...
Add to that, serviceable, at best, TE's lining up on either end of the line, makes this OL a huge question mark.....
I always said, this team goes as far as Eli takes them....not anymore......it goes as far as this OL takes them......we need a miracle.....If this OL can function together as a unit, we have a shot...I think they can handle one on one matchups...it's the stunts and blitzes I worry about....
Our starting OTs are who we expected them to be: Beatty and Pugh. We signed J.D. Walton to start at Center and that's where he is. We signed Jerry to start at RG, and that's where he is, too. Four out of five projected starters who will be starting...no "cobbling" needed there. Yes, we caught a bad break with Schwartz, but Richburg's been playing well in his absence, and it could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
But, let's face it, no matter what happens on Monday night, you and your ilk will be out in force dumping as much negativity as you can on the situation. Briefly, if the Giants lose, they suck. If they win, well, it was only against the Lions and the Giants still suck.

That's irrelevant. The writer of this crappy article claims that the Giants TD drive right before halftime was against Jets backups. It wasn't. It's a factual error.
Add this guy to my list of tabloid hacks I don't read...

Of course when the bullets started flying this patience went right out the window for some.
I am anxious to see how they look with an actual plan and Manning being in for more than a few plays.

... starting to click ...
... some chemistry ...
I sure hope we do more than "start to click" and "have some chemistry" come Monday night or it's going to be a long night and a long season.

just in time :)
