NFT: Video Games: Destiny Launch Thread

It's so ambitious. Everything blends so well. It's so simple. Take the gameplay of halo and integrate that into the structure of WoW. Borderlands was a solid start but lacked competitive multiplayer and the controls and gameplay wasn't as tight as it could be. It has been a long time since a shooter has made me care about campaign missions. It's the first time I can remember since halo 2 online that your level actually means something. So far I'm loving the balance and experience in the competitive multiplayer. This feels like the first time a game is both. FPS and a RPG. Borderlands was close but to me felt like a RPG with shooter elements. I would say this is the biggest leap forward for an online experience since COD 4. It had been a very long time since a truly great game came out for me and this is it.

Story is lacking so far but a story in any video game is gravy. A nice bonus but if that's the reason you're playing it the gameplay or structure is lacking.

The entire game is vague. Can you be more specific? I read thru the cards so I know a fair bit.

for one whats with the traveler and the darkness? Like in this game you fight all these races of aliens and I have not the slightest clue as to why.

Traveller came to earth and guided humanity into space travel and advance their technology.

Hundreds of years later, the Darkness tracked down the Traveler and wiped it all away and blasted humanity back to one city left on the earth. 1 city survived because the Traveler used it's own life to save them.

more hundreds of years later, humanity is still recovering, and using the last shreds of the Traveler's powers to stay alive. they live off the scraps of old technology.

The alien races are from outside the solar system. They spend as much time fighting each other for supremacy as they do hunting down and trying to conquer the solar system for their own faction.

So, you have 4-5 alien races each trying to be the top dog while also trying to stomp out Humanity and the Darkness may is looming in the background as the overall villain.

Humanity (and Exos, who Humans created, and some Awoken) are trying to get back on their feet and trying to heal or revive the traveller. THey don't stand a chance without it.

Level 20 a couple of days ago and finished the story and I'm having a very hard time of trying to figure out wtf to do now. Since every mission is the same and I've done all the strikes I m now pretty bored. Any one else feel the same?

I just got to level 20 and apparently there's a lot of weekly, daily content that's added. There's a bunch of guides to the post 20 content and a bunch of stuff unlocks. (thought some of it is redundant with a higher level).

on the PS4?

I was playing with CommonTheory the other night. Only at level 6. Could use some help with the storyline if anyone is playing tonight.

What new content? New planets to play, or is it just the same levels with tougher bad guys? I want to do the raid but I am only at 23 right now trying to get 26. It can get playing the same levels and the same strikes to obtain that gear is proving to be annoying.

No, the raid is the new content that I was talking about. And they have daily and weekly missions and stuff, but I think that's just the same content with a higher difficulty.
