and I still get butterflies. I've got a grandson to help nurture into the fold and no matter what happends -- win, lose, joy, agony -- it's ulitmately all about family. GO GIANTS!
...as to what is likely to happen tonight, however some things will always hold true: A good running game, solid defense, and eliminating turnovers...gives any team the best chance to win. If we don't beat ourselves, and keep the game close going into the 4th...we have a legit shot.
I honestly can't remember the last time I felt as down about Â
I cant get a read on this team. Just havent seen enough. I do think the defense will be tough. Im really just wishing like hell JPP plays like the beast he was a couple years ago.
and get some early first downs, I think the offense and McAdoo will let out a collective sigh of relief and really settle in. Cruz and Manning both echoed the sentiment that they were holding back most of their offensive package throughout preseason and I hope that is truthful.
Thought Megatron and Bush present daunting tasks on defense, I think we have never been more better suited from a secondary standpoint to keep them at bay.
game is that Detroit has a penchant for giving away games.
They have too many new faces, new offense and questionable pass rush to be considered anything but mediocre. A successful season this year to me is that they show steady improvement offensively and that the OL becomes at least a functioning unit. Defensively, if JPP proves me wrong and becomes a force again and Moore is really a player then they can be a dominant defense. The back 7 looks good, but without a pass rush they will eventually cave.
I think people continue to run under the assumption Â
I really, really don't feel that way. Time may have clouded the full scope of how fucking awful that unit was last season.
Agree here. We ran the ball well this preseason whereas last year we couldn't get the ball out of the backfield. If Eli can get the ball out quickly, I think we have a real shot.
than I did when we opened against the Redskins, following our Super Bowl season, in 2007.
Lastly, I was never more excited, confident, and determined as a fan, that we would go on and repeat that year as well. Until Plaxico shot himself in the leg.
Coming into this season, I'm at the complete opposite end, of the proverbial spectrum, with my emotions. I totally feel like we're going to get embarrassed tonight. My hope is to be proven wrong.
But, nevertheless....
I'M STILL EXCITED!
I've never seen so much negativity around this team or less Â
This is the least optimistic I've been about NYG in a while, but.. it's a new season. There's no way I'm not going to be excited. And it's also not exactly a team like the Raiders or someone who just isn't going anywhere this year and everyone already knows it.
We'll need a lot of good fortune to be a playoff team but at least it's not totally out of the realm of possibilities. Let's just get a win early on and avoid anything resembling 0-6 again. What a fucking nightmare.
I know this is saying nothing new but if they can run Â
put so much into the preseason....and judge week 1 outcomes on that.
49ers looks terrible in the preseason and go on the road and smokes Dallas
Bill 1st team offense doesn't score a single point in the preseason...and they go on the road and get a solid win at Chicago.
People were raving about Indy they way they walked through the Giants in the 1st 3 quarters...they lay an egg at Denver...and Luck really doesn't play that well.
It goes on and on. The preseason means nothing!!! except injuries and getting practice time!!!
Man that will make a lot of the other problems on Offense look much more minor in scale as it will show the OL is effective, and there can be some balance.
I'll take 2nd and 8 vs. 2nd and 12. And 3rd and 4 instead of 3rd and 9.
the GIANTS DEFENSE is the best unit on the field tonight.
we may not have a great pass rush but we FORCE TURNOVERS and clamp down in the red zone. looking for the D to step up, get the better of stafford and win the game for us
I haven't been excited at all. I figured maybe its because I was getting older or whatever. But then all of the sudden 3 hours ago I saw a promo for the game and now I am pumped, butterflies and everything. Let's get em Giants!
I expect the Giants to pound the ball with their running attack, win the turnover battle and make enough plays to win.
20-17.
I too expect the Giants to run well, take what the defense gives them in the passing game, NOT turn it over, and do enough in all other areas to eek out a close win.
Sidenote: Colts DE Robert Mathis out for the year with achilles tear. We won't be facing this stud pass rusher after-tal.
Best of luck to the team tonight. May they get the win and stay injury free.
I've been bitchin about the o-line and Reece all off season but now it's time for me to just be a Giants fan and support the team all the way. Go TC and the New York Giants!
The DT thing is puzzling, last year had great success with 4 DT, and they only activated 5 LB last year, so essentially taking the extra ST backup LB over a guy who will probably factor into a rotation at DT and has pass rushing skill, yep.
Swing T roster hole exposed here as well, Brown is not nfl caliber so inactive. Mosley/Jerry would proabably play RT if Pugh went down and Pugh would move over to LT and the other two again play RT if Beatty went down. Dangerous situation.
Across seasons these choices by coaching staff add up for Giants teams over the years that generally have low margin for error.
Seattle played Sherman on most of their ST with the big investment they made in him as well. You can play your starters there, i mean its pretty much only PR coverage/return with all the touchbacks (especially if we took McManus).
he's a long termer here, but why wouldn't you prefer McClain with all his experience and vet savvy in there? Remember, they're game-planning now. Rather have JM in there at this point

he cant play anymore, Kennard is a much better player...
not 100% and given his already limited talent we sat him.
We have to pray we don't sustain in-game injuries or it could be a long long night for us!
Brown was probable and practiced all 3 days, they decided to not activate him and decided they were better off with going with Mosley/Jerry (not much T expierence, Mosley zero) at RT and Pugh at LT in case of injuries than actually give Brown, a guy who has nfl game expierence at LT, playing time.
Kennard will play a lot regardless of McClain starting Â
There is no doubt in my mind that Kennard will be starting post-bye for sure if not earlier. They will work him in slowly. He can rush the passer and you MUST have those guys on the field on any clear passing situations. McClain is no pass rusher.
Has good game plan...we beat them last year
w bad dbs...I think we will be surprised at
Macs playbook... Washington may become
A star tonight....run game will be vital

KILLDRIVE!
Eli sucks, wheres Nassib?
Should have drafted Zach Martin
Fucking draw play.
As unlikely as it probably is, hopefully they somehow prove me wrong -- starting tonight.
Thought Megatron and Bush present daunting tasks on defense, I think we have never been more better suited from a secondary standpoint to keep them at bay.
21-17, Giants kick the season off with a dub.
Go Blue!
Can it?
The Lions are one of those teams that actually disappoint their fans more than any other team....so although slight...I have hope.
Win/Lose....play competitive football

Very nice. I'll just say I hope we don't suck, because there are strong indications in the preseason that we might.
GO GIANTS!
Well that explains a lot.

Jon Beason will start at MLB, Jameel McClain at SLB, and John Jerry at RG ... #Giants lineup

Snyder, wynn, bromley, and Brown are healthy inactives
If that + JPP is all-pro form, barring significant injuries, we'll be in the playoffs.
BLESSED
???
Williams is the starting WLB, why would you think he is going to the bench?
Have fun. Good luck to us all.
20-17.

Kennard will get his time eventually.
And williams is not going to the bench. He's a good coverage LB. The best they have by far.

Do you deny that he looked quite good run blocking vs the Pats? I know it was against backups but he was destroying guys.

You know this how?
Should surprise no one that McClain is starting.
mclain should only be a 2 down player most of the time
