On the 2 minute drill vs the Jets Eli went back to his old style drops
I guess I don't understand why Eli simply couldn't take a quicker and shorter drops without having to change they way he is comfortable doing it. Requiring him to change the way his has always stood prior to the snap seems a little to anal IMO
unfortunately since they are not picking with a point spread, it is hard to argue with them. The O line is horrible. The starting offense scored one TD in 5 pre season games. The offense is still learning this new system. We have no WR really after Cruz. We have no TE. We are playing on the road.
We still have a chance here but if you have to bet your house....
an auspicious beginning. Reminds me of last year when Eli's first pass was intercepted. Unreal. Fantastic when you lose sight of the BEST WR in the game.
I am not going to worry yet but man we ain't seen a good thing from the first team all year!
As for defense, I am sure they will shore up going forward. That Johnson TD happens because Stafford escaped and Johnson made a great move while Rolle didn't.
yeah because Cowher can make these O linemen into players? Please.... This has nothing to do with Coughlin. In fact, this would be the year where you give Coughlin a pass. You should be calling for Reese's head not TC
Meanwhile, Eli had time there and he had an open WR for the first down. He HAS TO complete that easy pass. He is the one guy who cannot afford to make mistakes. He is the leader and needs to make these simple throws when the opportunities present themselves.
Clear out and throw to the RB. Our Wrs are usless anyways, so we need to find ways to get the ball to our RBs. We have no TE either. Fuck Ross and Reese, let this team down.
I mean, really slow
JPP down.I really don't want to think the worst possible outcome from what they looked like can come to pass, and like I said it's way too early to worry, but damn, looks like the wheels are coming off fast.Gotta have faith though
Do they think this is someone other than the best WR in the NFL and one of the best of all time in his prime?
I know he's unstoppable, but between the fiasco on the long TD and putting a safety on him in the RZ, they're not even giving him the standard #1 WR treatment tonight so far.
to look like a lay down.Noone is in position, no pursuit, shit tackling, just not sound from a fundamental level. They can't be this bad and I'm sure they'll wake up but damn, it's starting to look like it's over before it started.
This does not look like a competitive team. The Giants arent expected to win the super bowl, but they don't even look like an 808 team right now. Both teams have new coaching, one teams looks like they adjusted, the other doesnt.Eli dbetter do soemthing cause everyone else looks liek fucking dog balls.
to call the fucking game. There's plenty of time to discuss the latest in a long line of Baltimore scum later. Fucking hell Jennings, two hands on the ball dammit.
team in the league?! I don't think that's over-reaction either. We just can't function...No offense, can't even run the ball now, can't pass and now the D sucks!
Come on guys. Coughlin has energy n but no stones anymore to be a hc to make the calls. Gilbride Quinn and soon fewell will all be fired years too late
Same offense, and same defense. Can we finally be convinced it is the talent and REESE, not Gillbride, not Fewell, and not the special teams coach. IT IS THE FUCKING PLAYERS, TREY STINK! If anything does change, it will be because the talent improved, the bullshit about systems is just that, bullshit.
I have to say, I am sick and tired of sitting down to watch games only to discover the giAnts don't show up to play the game. Atlanta, Baltimore 2013 and basically any game last year where we played a good qb. This game has all the earmarks of the SD game last year. But we have a geeat defense because we beat scott Tolzien, rgiii, Pryor, cousins, etc
if you return punts you don't field it inside the damn 10. Let it go for the touchback.
Given the inexperience and the fact that it's the first game of the season, I'm inclined to give him a pass for that, especially in light of the surrounding shitshow.
it's getting in Eli's head now. He just seems flustered and can't find the mark. And he's not being helped at all by his receivers.
I think this is right. His head is not screwed on right now. He looks lost, can you blame him. He has no time to do anything, and is operating a new offense in those conditions.
You really need to put the Eli hate away, the ball hit him right where it should have, in his hands. At times i wonder if you even really watch the game
two fades? Gruden is absolutely right in his criticism. Once is fine, but two is questionable at best. And now we slam it right into the line on third down.
Good drive, coming back from adversity and averting a complete collapse. This is why I watch football and Why I'm a giants fan, for they character display, thats where the drama is.If the defense can settle down maybe we can get back in it.
tToo early to lose faith, but damn has been ugly so far.
TC disciplined team that didn't kill itself with penalties or turnovers is what's kept us alive.
We just can't go 3 and out here.
Let us continue to go where the defense lets us, run the ball, and hope Detroit's weak DB's continue to make penalties.
I said to everyone that J Jernigan would be our #3 wideout based on his experience and BAM yes he is doing fairly well tonight. Lets hope Eli and him develop.
I don't think it was the Lions keeping the drive alive or anything with being undisciplined or anything. They're 7-70 yards in penalties. I'm sure it wasn't thanks to our inerrent "movin-and-groovin" offense.
What a stupid move by Randle on that second down. Why would he run directly into the defender. We had good field position but nope! Maybe Gilbride was jut nothing but a scapegoat?
him and brown the weak links on defense, and DRC couldnt cover johnson early.
Meanwhile doesnt matter what Eli does if the O-line keeps leaking like a seive.I put that on reese that this line is this bad.JJ is hanging in there and is somehwat effective from what I see.
Offense has been consistent in coverage these last couple of plays. They just gotta keep this momentum up. Manning is just horrible under pressure.
Nowwww it's time for JPP and the defensive line to hopefully fuckin show up to play football! Idk what in the actual hell they were doing the first quarter, but they need to cut it out.
@JordanRaanan: Linebacker Devon Kennard questionable with a hamstring injury. Not really part of the defense anyway. Only special teams impact. #giants
this FG. Why play that coverage. That looked like a Prevent defense
Yep. Might as well play tight and if they beat you for 25 yards for a first down so be it. Odds are really small that they would. But don't conceded yards as it is an auto field goal in a dome
Eli just needs to drive for points here. Even a FG before the half gives us momentum. What we can't do is go 3 or 4 and out and give the Lions time to get a FG attempt off yet again. Megatron Johnson is killing us.
If lions haven't shot themselves with costly penalties
Beatty will get better as he heals and gets reps. He hasn't practiced much and quite frankly I am not surprised he is struggling along with the rest of the OL.
those dogshit games at the end of last year. We coulda have Lewan! But at least we finished 7-9 with our pride. The September wind blows outside. I can't believe it. I parked my car on the porch today because I was so excited to get home. I had to work with gross Torron and Johnny B. I waited all day for this? How are we still in this? oh yeah, thank you undisciplined Lions.
I am going to keep saying it. I think we have a serious issue with our strength and conditioning program. We seem to be physically weaker than the guys we are lining up against. Beatty can be fat as long as he is also a strong mo-fo. He is getting blasted backwards.
Lol I know somebody who works at the Borgata and EVERYTHING from the Revel got taken. My husband worked at Atlantic Club for 33 years. We haven't spoken to him in a year and a half :)
I'm suprised we held them at 14 but I was suprised we let them get those 14. So I don't know what to think of our D now. Our oline is to bad to be able to judge the Offense.
OL is bad aside from Richburg. Confused by obvious stunts, and being overpowered. Some of the latter is understandable given that Detroit has one of the best front fours in the league, but it is happening too much.
We also have no running game, and no receiving options except for JJ and Donnell. Can't win like that. Lions are taking away Cruz. Somebody needs to step up.
Very good run defense, and the defense did settle down a little after the two early scores.
The OL is just a disaster, but that was to be expected.
Eli is still having problems, but he's basically a one man team out there on that side of the ball right now. Donnell, of all people, is the only one showing anything that resembles stepping up to help.

As likely a theory as any. I mean, it's a given that a widely praised medical staff can be a noticeable asset (Phoenix Suns). Can't it just as easily be a detriment?
RE: I actually think Eli is battling and doing well
He has no running game, weak WR's, and little pass blocking.
I agree. I think Eli is playing well considering he is getting owned by the 4 man rush every time he steps back. Cruz hasn't done much and RR is useless. It's actually JJ and the TE doing stuff. Some good runs by Jennings too.

On D Fewell needs to get pressure on Stafford. ..
on O the line sucks..Reese should be fired. ..
Mac will get heat and Eli...center is only
good guy we have
Eli could've stepped up the middle on the one he rolled away right and threw it out of bounds...I think he is EXTREMELY concerned about the pass rush on the inside.
He has no running game, weak WR's, and little pass blocking.
I agree. He has one legit weapon in Cruz who by himself is ordinary. We need someone to step up. Really only candidates are Jennings and Randle. Jernigan is out of position outside.
Pleasantly surprised by Donnell.
Five years into this Fewell Defense and there are still...
got better. Made some nice throws. I also agree that he's playing with a bad OL, and very limited weapons. But he also made some poor throws, and is quite possibly the most immobile starting QB in the league.
RE: Five years into this Fewell Defense and there are still...
The offense really can't move. It has went from a three and out to stringing together a few first downs before punting. The TD was not a great drive, it was aided by a roughing punt and a 20 yard PI.
Positives so far were donnell and run d. Eli has been fine, but he has no time to pass. The Oline has been terrible and so has the secondary. Reuben Randle is not a 1 in this league, not even close.
Eli could've stepped up the middle on the one he rolled away right and threw it out of bounds...I think he is EXTREMELY concerned about the pass rush on the inside.
Of course he does. Last year A gap was a big issue. We had teams line up and hit A gap and hit Eli right in his grill. When you have a QB getting pressured all game long, when in doubt, you're not going to take risks.
He clearly doesn't trust his guys. He can throw a player open, and know that player won't be at the landmark for the ball. I wouldn't trust the skill players to make a throw like that. Throw a guy open, and have my guy stop in his route, and surprise, surprise, another INT.
afford to abandon the running game, now. Our pass blocking is SO terrible. Keep feeding Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams. Randle and Jernigan are NOT doing anything with Cruz getting all of the attention. Despite all of the atrociousness displayed by the offensive line, Eli has played well...or as best as he can.
Let me ask you, how many throws has he gotten on slants, or in space? Every time Eli has thrown to him it's been a curl in or out. Kind of hard to show ones talents when that is the only times your getting the ball. But, a lot of that has to do with the poor o-line play and Eli not having enough time to find Randle in space. O-line has to step it up, and man up in a hurry,
I had fears about how Beatty would play but Pugh has been just as bad and Beatty is going against a much better player. I think the jury is out if Pugh will ever be anything more then an average lineman?

Cruz is not getting all of the attention. Cruz is not getting open. Same problem as last year.
don't think there's any question Eli doesn't trust JJ and Randle. Donnell is the one trusts the most, aside from Cruz. That says a lot about the state of our O.
but he isnt the reason they are sucking. He is playing with ONE WR so far, a half assed JJ who is trying but still making mistakes. Randle is a non-entity. Cruz is ineffective. His only reveivers are JJ and Donnel. He has no O-line. Seems to me they have given Eli fuckall to work with.Despite any criticisms I've made of Eli's accuracy in the short game, he is what's kept them in this game.
Manning may have issues, but I believe that if he had some receiver and some protection he could make this scheme work. He is hamstrung by both lack of protection and lack of weapons. He is trying to do something with nothing and he's done well to keep it to 7 points and have it still be a game.More importantly they haven't turned the ball over.
manning is a flawed QB, but he's my QB, I think he'd be fine with proper support. He doesn't have it.
On defense the problems reported with DRC seem to be accurate. All the types of mistakes he supposedly makes he has made.Brown and Demps don't look good. The D-line looks OK against the run. I am suprised they are as porous as they are in the secondary.
DFar as TE goes, Donnell seems adequate. were he to get another 40 yds in the second half, you'd have to say that's decent production fora TE. Hell if he didn't get another yd and kept it up all year at 40 yds a game thats 640 a year, which, while not great is more than what we got from meyers last year.TE will be OK.
On the down side, Beatty, Jerry, and sad to say Pugh are looking inadequate.
The offense is Eli Donell and JJ right now.Would be nice if the other 8 guys put on their helmets and helped out.
Pass rush isnt there on defense, run defense is sound, LBs are adequate, but the secondary is leaky. Fewell seems to be giving as lot of cushion to the WRs.
DRC needs to tweak his game, I hope he is open to coaching, and I hope the Seconday coach is able to provide it.
Team showing a bit of grit withstanding initial assault, hope they can settle down and bounce back. it's still a ballgame.
That's why I was curious to see Cruz in this system. Clean slate for everyone, good or bad. So what he did was in the past system. He needs to show he can make plays in this system. I am interested to see if he can. However, hard to do when the OL sucks so poorly.
Get the ball here, move it, and at least get a FG for the momentum. The momentum has swung our way some. We've been helped by penalties big-time but that is the game today.

Right... because Dan from WNY knows better. Idiotic is defending it when you are watching the same thing the rest of us can see. Maybe you should just continue to watch our O line get pushed backwards by guys who weigh less than they do. Maybe you can scratch your head again next year when we get more hamstring and other flexibility related injuries.
If name calling is your way of dealing with what you are witnessing on the field then go ahead...throw more insults out there.

Offensive line play play has more to do with leverage, positioning and technique than raw strength at this level. You seriously think the the O line stinks because they're physically weaker than other teams?
this is about what we should have expected for the first week or two, maybe even a little longer. The O is showing signs, but is scuffling. The D got off to a shaky start but is basically okay.
Just so painful to watch this offense attempt to function. Can the oline get that much better this year to give us a chance? Can the WRs make plays, get open and catch!? I'm not confident at all. Hopefully ODB shows something otherwise we are in for a very long season!
Bad GM
A coach who is historically great, but probably needs to walk away.
A QB who is now officially part of the problem, not the solution.
Mediocre WR's
Historically bad O Line
TE's - haha, year right.
Defensive Coordinator that keeps going with what doesn't work
I can't wait til this season is over.
I hate that this team depresses me this much 1/2 into the first game.
they didn't say it was "confirmed". Tells me that it wasn't clear enough to refs that the ball hit the ground to overturn the call. It was the correct call.

No, I did not say that. I simply questioned the strength and conditioning program and said that we seem to be physically out matched. Of course leverage and technique come into play in addition to studying film. However, strength is a huge component otherwise by bother lifting any weights Dan?? Why not just work on your technique and take a few karate classes then? BTW, this is not just an O-line thing either. Why does our D line not get the push that we need either? Is it solely a technique thing with them?
is going to end his career getting the shit pounded out of him. That doesn't excuse him completely, but he's a rag doll in the pocket.
Another three and out. There is nothing down field. Not even for twenty yards. Who is the deep threat on this team? JJ? Holy shit if that's true. Lack of talent and horrendous miscommunications equals a long season.
are physical specimens. Bob Papa also just said we are not getting any separation. We also heard that this is a weak Lions secondary. Every time we catch the ball, it looks like the WR is running for cover vs turning it upfield.
The question that has been there ALL preseason:Where the fuck is Victor Cruz????
He's in against a 3rd string backup? Did Cruz fall off a cliff as well?
Have we totally lost the ability to evaluate talent? Seems to me we have had a really really hard time putting together a roster the last few years.I look at Reese more than anything else right now.Not TC, not ELI.
Is that the middlemen backer eventually takes deep center. Stevie needs to get over. Jesus out some pressure on the offense when you have them with their back against the wall.

So your premise is that the Giants, one of the greatest organizations in pro sports, has an incompetent strength and conditioning staff? That the Giants are "physically out-matched" because they don't know how to lift weights properly and maybe they eat too much junk food? I dont even know why I'm discussing this with someone who couldn't name one member of the staff to begin with.
I agree purely because he had talent. He'd have been back for game 7, got some practice in, and been active and starting for the last 8 games of the season. He knows Fewell's defense and had speed which is clearly something Brown does not have.
Teams will attack Brown all season. Achilles Heal.
Has done enough to keep us in the game, given how bad the offense is and how short we keep the ball for. The 3rd and longs have been frustrating, but the defense has been ok (secondary no so much, front seven much better).
Rolle has been playing ok. Defense is the least of our problems, but that tampa 2 really does suck ass. IMO it's an outdated scheme in today's league. The OL outside of Richburg has been horrifying.
had gone immediately to TAte, the slot guy was wide open up the middle....this system sucks.....DRC is doing the same thing Corey Webster did in this system......releasing to no coverage....
Another year like last year and he could be out the league. You can't throw stupid picks. Throw the f**king ball away and live another down! Stop being a freakin clown Eli!!
Eli on pace to surpass his career banner year last year.
It's only the first game of the year, but it's been an extended period of poor football. It does seem like it's inevitable that we're going to have some turnover and say goodbye to some combo of Reese, TC and Eli, if not all three.
Another year like last year and he could be out the league. You can't throw stupid picks. Throw the f**king ball away and live another down! Stop being a freakin clown Eli!!
The coaching staff will have no choice but to bench him if things continue at that pace.
Not that Nassib would do any better with this group.
ward. The lack of speed, and the lack of physicality are STRIKING on this team..
Have to give credit to stafford, nice QB playing well.
In fairness, I think the Lions can be a playoiff team this year, but I still don't like the mental lack of focus and physical lack of intensity by the Giants.
He needs to understand that if the pocket breaks, throw it away, because bad things always happen when he tries to make a play on the run under duress. Throw the friggin ball away! Shoot take an intentional grounding! But stop the stupid picks! Time to take the kid gloves off Coughlin and light Eli's ass up!! F**k!
That was the product of a horrible, horrible decision by Manning.
Of course the pressure drove him out of the pocket, and of course that impacted his foot position, but he has to put that ball in the stands.
And that is what is so frustrating -- Manning appears to be able to do a lot of the physical stuff he's always been able to -- and it's just damn weird to see a guy just flat become a bad decision maker.
Another year like last year and he could be out the league. You can't throw stupid picks. Throw the f**king ball away and live another down! Stop being a freakin clown Eli!!

At least Nassib can move.
the sad thing here is we are not even competitive on
I don't think the offensive system was the problem last year.
Gilbride is way too close to both Eli and Coughlin to be smiling about this.
He knows they're both the ones who are likely going to take the fall, while the one he clearly blames the most for the Giants failures (Reese) gets off free and easy.
It is amazing how talent comes here and gets dumb real fast
Eli is the dog shit! Every QB needs to be mobile and make plays (sans the great P. manning and Brady). It's just a different game. Face it and move on. He was great once so was Phil, Fran and YA
RE: RE: So Eli is going to throw two picks a game this year?

You may not know Coughlin too well. The only way Nassib gets into the game is if Eli is injured or if we have a 28 point lead with 5 min remaining.
Afraid to continuing one word to describe and says about the
everybody's fault. This is the offensive equivalent of multi system organ failure in medicine. Everything is breaking down. Bad OL. Immobile QB who is back to his tendency to force throws. One WR. No TEs.
A team like the Lions can go get a new head coach off coord, def coord. And look like world beaters, meanwhile the Giants get a new off coord. And we look like the worst team in the league.
I simply predicted the Giants would get blown out week 1 vs the Lions and you all said how wrong you were. Well?
Pathetic display of "football" by the QB, the O-line, the WR, the defense got beat down, and I mean BEAT down. The play calls were awful. Larry Donnell is a joke.
Why does Jerry Reese still have a job?
Take Eli out put Nassib in.
I waited all of today for this? Really? I waited all day for this? like H said, we all fell for it hook line and sinker. I'm pissed off beyond means. we should have 0 points but Detroit gave us the field before the half. Hey REESE, Offensive line...SO grateful we won all of those meaningless games at the end of last year so we could draft a guy whos not even in the game...We could've had LEWAN if we just lost a few more games. Guess what! No PLAYOFFS.
If this goes into week four, you have to consider pulling Eli. Not now, but then. If only for his own safety. But at that point, you'd have to put in the WRs Nassib is familiar with, including Washington.
Don't really think Detroit cares anymore. Easy win for them, and most teams this year I think.
A team like the Lions can go get a new head coach off coord, def coord. And look like world beaters, meanwhile the Giants get a new off coord. And we look like the worst team in the league.
Some teams know when a change is needed and others drag their feet and don't really address the issue.
Stafford has beat them with his feet at least times tonight. With his fucking feet.
I don't want to hear any more "work in progress" shit. I gave them the benefit of the doubt throughout preseason. But, this is not the first fucking time a team installed a new offense. Look at their opponents and their new offense. This is just pathetic football in ever facet of the game.
And the "work in progress" doesn't explain their terrible pass coverage. The first TD they may have said was caused by Rolle and Brown colliding. The truth is, neither player was anywhere near Johnson when they ran into each other and neither was in a position to make a play if they hadn't collided. The second TD was another pathetic job of not tackling Stafford, who is not known for his feet and losing fucking track of Johnson, of all people, in the end zone. Then every fucking 3rd down pass goes short of the marker.
I really tried to refrain from posting in the game thread. I just couldn't contain my disgust any longer. This is one of the most pathetic performances from a team that has laid a bunch of stinkers over the years.
A team like the Lions can go get a new head coach off coord, def coord. And look like world beaters, meanwhile the Giants get a new off coord. And we look like the worst team in the league.

who genuinely thought this team would be better than a .500 team God help you and for those who thought they were going to be a .500 team you either don't know football or you have a difficult time comprehending what your eyes were telling you during preseason. Preseaon was a window into the wonderful world of the 2014 NY Giants my friends.
If they win more than 6 games Coughlin should be considered for coach of the year.
When anyone else has fumbleitis, they are benched. I understand the SuperBowl deal and I understand we are not going to the SuperBowl this year, but you can't have consecutive years of sh** play at QB and not say anything. These are bad decisions. Eli needs to understand his strengths and minimize his weaknesses. There has been no improvement in his decisions when he throws picks. It's the same sh** and I'm sick of seeing him predictably make bad picks like the last one.
A team like the Lions can go get a new head coach off coord, def coord. And look like world beaters, meanwhile the Giants get a new off coord. And we look like the worst team in the league.
You obviously have as issues if you can't see the difference in offensive talent on the two teams. Jerry Reese has destroyed this team and turned Eli into Archie.

From watching this game, as bad as Manning has looked, the blame needs to fall on the shoulders of the offensive line and receivers simply (from early perception) not getting separation.
but I can't stand bad decisions by a veteran QB like Eli. It shouldn't be this way at this stage of his career. Eli is the only reason the Giants have a chance year in and year out. When he's on his game, the Giants can win. But he got step up and make good decisions.
is the Lions secondary is completely banged up. If there was anywhere the Giants should have had an advantage it is against the secondary, even with their questionable WRs. Instead, most of their routes are completely covered.
I'm ok with this year's pick, but did we really need a RB in the first round?
Wilson was an electric KR and did pretty well as a RB (although he struggled with his protection assignments).
If we had Wilson, if ODB were out there, and if we could use the money spent on Jennings elsewhere, this would be a completely different offense. Losing Wilson to injury really hurt us.
texasgmanfan. Tough to decipher from the haters here.
no worries. as i said earlier, since his rookie year, i can't think of less talent surrounding eli on offense than this year. it's sad to witness and the front office should be ashamed for allowing this side of the ball to deteriorate so badly.

A poor secondary covered up by a very strong front seven. The Giants haven't had any luck protecting the QB or on the short routes.
The problem is not the offensive system it's the execution and the decision making by the players. That drive shows the offensive system can work. The players got to execute and make plays and Eli has to live to play another damn down! Stop with the stupid interceptions!
I'm ok with this year's pick, but did we really need a RB in the first round?
I was not ok with his pick this year. Not that he went with a WR...but that he did not target a BIG Wr. One that creates matchup problems for the opponent.
can be a very good #3 receiver. He will never be a number one receiver. ODB had better be a great one, otherwise this receiving corp will be average and nonthreatening.
put him in motion and let him fly downfield. Eli can just throw it deep and let Demps run under it. At least the 2ndary has to honor the speed. Then fake the same play and throw it underneath in the area cleared out.
At least it'll be fun to watch.
that was the play. We had to stop them, and we didn't. Eli can only dream about the time that Stafford has to throw. And of course, it's Johnson who beats us again.
How does this guy keep his job after watching this fiasco. The Giants are a beaten boxer just hoping to finish the fight without being knocked out. Fat Will Beatty was signed for $40 million. Picked a WR in first round instead of OL.
Defense horrible. Offense atrocious. Tom coughing in the hot seat? Everyone should be put on notice. No heart. No effort. Giants pride marketing campaign FAIL.

The problem wasn't picking a WR. In case you haven't noticed, we ain't got nothing at WR either.
The problem is the WR isn't contributing right now at all, so they're basically going in with a terrible OL and terrible WRs/TEs. It's like signing up for inevitable failure.
but the Lions have amazing talent on offense and they'll probably be a playoff team. Let's not have a total meltdown yet. And the Giants are going to need time before they start clicking.
RE: That drive was like a white hot knife going through half melted
Lombardi clearly out-coached Fewell by almost a tremendous margin. Fewell should be ashamed of himself. If Gilbride was made to walk the plank, then no question Fewell should be gone this year.
Detroit has talent all over the field, and Johnson has been pretty quiet in the second half. They are going to score a ton of points this year and anyone who doesn't see that is nuts.
Classless Detroit play, going for 2 on a team that's already dogmeat this game.
Id 3 and out, get Stafford and Megatron back in the game and gun for their knees. Then shout youre welcome' to Caldwell from across the field.
They could have started fresh with new coaches and even a new GM, and they didn't. Gilbride was the one token sacrifice, and even he retired. I don't see the talent or the coaching. Where's the plan? Did they have one? This team looks as lost as last year's team. We had a chance to start over and the Giants ownership didn't take it. Well, looking at this team tonight, I'd say 4-12 is a serious possibility.
Jernigan and Beatty are all just awful. This OL needed to be fixed. Obvious that did not happen.
OTOH, this is only game 1. The offense is a WIP. But now the Defense needs to be fixed too. No pass rush when we need it. Decent against the run, but Stafford has torn us apart all game.
I'm embarrassed to be a fan of this team! This team quit during this game, and we should quit on them. What a f*cking disaster. 0-16 looks like a reality!
is knowing he is paying folks well for this product
when he could pay far less for the same quality. As far
as I am concerned, many heads should roll from top to
bottom.
They spend desperately in the offseason to patch
a hole and it is actually sinking faster. Poor drafting and talent development will haunt this team for years...

The team didn't quit.
They tried their ass off, but just sucked in many and various ways.
blame everybody for the loss, at least on O. But even the D looked bad aside from run defense. Reese is the biggest problem IMO. Too many horrendous drafts, and he really butchered the OL. And it's really going to be bad if Pugh doesn't start to play better.

Good. Quit. Don't come back. Don't ever post here again. Bye.
How about based on the last 3 years of failures. Non-competitive team in losses at Cincy, Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Carolina....................
Go ask the owner how he feels about another embarrassment.
I said it in the first quarter - this Detroit team is playing really really well. This game has not been all about the Giants ineptness. I think the Lions are legitimate this year.
This team has been awful since Hurricane Sandy. They didn't just lose tonight. They looked like they belong in the NCAA, and after five terrible preseason games (for the 1s on offense). If people want to figure this season is probably going to be a shitty one, they are well within their rights.
RE: RE: And anyone who is throwing away the season
If you think this is just one game, then you haven't watched the giants since the Steelers game in 2012. This is not one game.
Every single season is unique unto itself and if you don't get that you didn't watch either of the two Bowl runs. This is game one and not the defining moment of the season. We may well suck but we don't suck yet.

So now Pugh sucks too. Cruz doesn't know how to catch anymore. JPP can't get sacks. DRC comes here and forgets how to cover. To keep saying it is talent is just a cop out. Whether Gruden dances around the subject or not.

It's fair to be worried. Not fair to give up. Every experienced football fan knows how long the season is
that most of those wins at the end of the year were against shit teams and QBs. Playing against even mediocre NFL teams would probably have made us 4-12.
Everybody is just going to bullrush the hell out of our OL. Hassle Eli, shut down Cruz, and stop the run, and you win. It's an easy formula to devise and implement.
Every 3rd down he droops back into zone...Every single time he gets beat...it's ridiculous
When will we stop blaming everyone but Coughlin.
With what was arguably " The best secondary in the league" and an improved LB corps, we got 35 points hung on us on opening night. Start a thread abiut TC if you like, but your statement has shit to do with the thread, which is fewells culpability, unless you are meaning to imply it's TCs fault the D did fuckall tonight. I disagree. The D did not look prepared.Lions took the field and marched right down the field on us, twice. I don't wanna hear any shit how the D kept us in it, the D blew the game as soon as it started and that's the truth ,we were never really in it.
Maybe they'll stop drafting Syracuse guys like Pugh and Nassib

Right, it's not that difficult to see. Stop the run, force errors and run the ball down their throats.
is anyone shocked? shouldn't be after the preseason. this is the 2014
model that needs to evolve into a 2015 or 2016 model. It will be slow fora all the reasons you all have been screaming about. if it doesn't get better over the next 5 games then radical change maybe necessary. but be calm and see what evolution or devolution if you prefer occurs
why they didnt throw lateral more..
didnt throw to 88 or 82 being behind all game...
fewell needs to pressure qb ...
bad coaching....was really diappointed
with D
33 years old. So what do you do> You bring in an entirely new quick stuff offense that he's not going to feel comfortable in and one which requires a deft, slick, quick, finesse passer who moves around, plays with speed and quickness. Does it really make a lot of sense. And our WR are invisible. Two small guys and one who can't seem to get the play right.
If Eli QB's the Lions, does he make the first TD pass? no he is sacked. Does he throw the second TD pass? No he doesn't have the arm strength to throw across the field. Bottom line if he is on Detroit he might not win this game. Stafford won't throw two BS interceptions also!
If Tate was here it would be the same BS. Tripping over his feet, running wrong routes, etc. Save the talent excuse BS. Enough speech making time for development.
RE: Maybe they'll stop drafting Syracuse guys like Pugh and Nassib
four times, I repeat, FOUR TIMES that idiot rushed 3 guys on third and long, while dropping a DL into coverage - once Jenkins was standing in the middle of the field with a thumb up his ass watching a pass be completed 30 yards down field. All four times we were burned. Please get us a DC that will be aggressive on third and long, and not a delayed blitz from Beason from 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage. I just don't see how TC can watch those plays constantly be unsuccessful and continue to let them be run. They get the score to 27-14 with 11:30 left, get them in third and 7, and rush 3 while dropped Ayers JR into coverage. I simply cannot fathom the logic there. Look, most knew the OL and offense would take time, why we consistently continue to give up 3rd and longs is troubling - to my eyes it's squarely on the coaches.
how we continue to play the same 3rd and long defense and allow the main target to catch every pass. Otherwise, I think the QB is the only one with a real clue on offense and I feel badly for him because he takes the shit while everyone else fails.
But he called nothing tonight that said innovative...i donr expect much from him.....
I hear you, but it's his first game. I don't expect a genius either, but give him a couple of years and he may develop into a good one.hell, Giants tried a reverse tonight.he's willing to try shit, that's for sure. Over time he'll find what works and what doesnt with the personell he has.I guarantee he makes some major adjustments between this week and next week.
This was the babies first gameplan. he will Improve
Listen, every swinging dick from Archie to Simms to other QBs out there have said there is gonna be growing pains, give it some time, it's not just Eli frowing into this offense, it's an offense that is evolving as the OC himself sees what works, what doesn't, what tools he has to work with and what he doesn't
A commander is graded by his ability to make an acurarte assesment of his available means, what tools and resources he has, and then come up with an acheivable plan from there.
let's give Macaddo some time to make these adjustments and see if he has these basic talents before we pass any kind of judgements on him or his offense.Fact is with the state of the line we can't tell anything about his offense yet as he is unable to implement it other than in fragmented bits and pieces due to the O-lines failure to provide Eli with a platform to strike from.Until that happens we can't really tell if it works or not, and unfortunatel MacAdoos efforts this week will be devoted as much to how to field a viable O-line as it will be to cmoing up with a gameplan for Arizona. Ben's in a spot now, and we have to give him some time. we wont really know where this team is unti about week 6, but the one thing we do know is we have an urgent situation on the OL that takes precedence over everything else.Tha problem is Reese's fault, not Eli's or TC's or MacAdoos.Until it is resolved realistic evaluations can't be made on the rest of the offense.
Lets hope they get swept in reverse.
Convenient
Giants won. 1-0. Start the game !
Is Jerry Starting at OG?
Ansah especially.
Is Jerry Starting at OG?
Yep. Lance Medow said it on WFAN pregame show.
I guess I don't understand why Eli simply couldn't take a quicker and shorter drops without having to change they way he is comfortable doing it. Requiring him to change the way his has always stood prior to the snap seems a little to anal IMO
And only if Lono is in full-vodka mode!!!!!!
We still have a chance here but if you have to bet your house....
Jordan Raanan @JordanRaanan
Good news for the #Giants fans: Preseason means absolutely nothing right now. Clean slate. #MNF
let's get off field here
Garbage.
Two pro bowl defenders just look stupid.
Wait all day for this garbage? Holy fuck.
This
How many years do we get to see this shit. Every year for the last 3?
Seriously a blown call is going to happen. Nothing to get too upset about. It just feels worse since it was opening drive against us for the season.
Announcer said that, but it had nothing to do with play, Johnson was already way behind them when they collided. It was a breakdown
long night.
Holy shit, you are the fucking worst
Nice 3 and out.
Enough with the old farty white guys.
Great start all around.
As for defense, I am sure they will shore up going forward. That Johnson TD happens because Stafford escaped and Johnson made a great move while Rolle didn't.
then they get smoked
The offense?
Just as advertised. Pathetic.
I hope I soon won't be envying that discrepancy.
Meanwhile, Eli had time there and he had an open WR for the first down. He HAS TO complete that easy pass. He is the one guy who cannot afford to make mistakes. He is the leader and needs to make these simple throws when the opportunities present themselves.
um it was Jernigan.
Eli can do no wrong.
WRs (except Giants ones) all across the NFL make that catch pretty regularly.
JPP hurt? Hey its 2013 all over again.
JPP down? and I said Oh, what a surprise.
He was in space against reggie bush, there is not a safety in football who makes that play. I am all for making criticisms, but make them legitimate
JPP down.I really don't want to think the worst possible outcome from what they looked like can come to pass, and like I said it's way too early to worry, but damn, looks like the wheels are coming off fast.Gotta have faith though
Pathetic 3 and out by Giants
Big play by Reggie Bush and JPP is injured.
I literally could not have imagined a worse start to this game that could have actually happened.

Just ask this question to all the guys who said preseason doesn't matter
completely shit bed on defense... 35 demps? is there a reason he is allowed to see the field? please proceed to the unemployment line.
offense, 2 runs up the gut and a 3rd and long. watch Eli not make an accurate throw... punt
next possession, see our "premier" / "best" defensive player get injured... thankfully only looks like he dislocated his shoulder but who knows.
couldn't have predicted this
did you miss where he collided with Stafford and McClain?
LOL, no they arent.
The best secondary in the league is just setting 'em up.
Just you wait and see...
Oh that's right our defense is getting beat like a
Safety on Megatron. Great defense Perry.
Safety Brown stinks. Safety Rolle getting beat too.
JPP injured. DE Moore missed a big play. No pass rush.
Folks, this could be a long season if this keeps up.
Smh
My god we are morons.
The blame lies with Jerry Reese people.
I know he's unstoppable, but between the fiasco on the long TD and putting a safety on him in the RZ, they're not even giving him the standard #1 WR treatment tonight so far.
Yes but the reason that play happens is because Stafford was able to escape and buy himself a lot of time. He also had so much room to run too.
Stafford is 7/8 for 149 and 2 TD's in the first quarter.
He's working for Fed Ex Offensive Player of the Week!
Same soft defense as usual
Worst start to the game possible, I'd say.
I wonder if the plan is to leave Calvin Johnson open all day? It's a bold move Cotton, let's see if it pays off.
Our D is lost, and our O is following them.
Bring in the 2nd string.
And its DETROIT!
Oh well.
lol almost
Almost lol!
it was nice knowing you... you can't excuse terrible throws like that any longer
its just pathetic at this point
accuracy is NOT there
Link - ( New Window )
Nassib will get a chance before Reese is gone.
Sarcasm off?
The sky is falling!!!!!!!!!
The Giants sucked in the the preseason and don't look good in the opener - and people are SHOCKED!!
Bizarre..
Let's see if they can be competitive and make a come back
Jerry looked good there.
Looked like a college guy pushing a hs guy
Well, that excitement was short lived
Fucking seriously with your stupid fantasy team?
Optimism for this season is already gone.
No it wasnt. Jennings had an easy catch.
Can't blame Reese. He's not coaching and preparing the team. People love to knock him for the OL. The OL has given Eli plenty of time tonight.
Shouldn't you be on a plan trying to avert terrorism with a fucking rolled up copy of Skymall?
Also time to give up on JPP and I'm close to being convince Eli's better days are behind him.
Quote:
about this ... I have Stafford in one fantasy league and Megatron in another.

LOL!
Agreed, garbage top to bottom thus far
Can't blame Reese. He's not coaching and preparing the team. People love to knock him for the OL. The OL has given Eli plenty of time tonight.
So it not Reese's fault this team has no fucking talent?
Eli will settle down, I hae to believe that, but the Lions O line goes forward, and the Giants O-line goes backwards.Jerry looks awful
Why did Parker field a punt INSIDE his own five yard line?
Agree!!
Given the inexperience and the fact that it's the first game of the season, I'm inclined to give him a pass for that, especially in light of the surrounding shitshow.
I think this is right. His head is not screwed on right now. He looks lost, can you blame him. He has no time to do anything, and is operating a new offense in those conditions.
Imagine what our new OC is thinking. He leaves Green Bay with that QB and weapons. Finds himself here in the land of misfit offensive toys.
Lets hope the flag is on DET.
lol, i had the same response.... it frackin lives!
He's in the fucking pocket.
Lions minus Jim Schwartz still being pieces of shit.
You can't be serious
lol, yeah. Eli should have jumped over him in the 1.2 seconds he had when he had the ball.
Quote:
with another drop.
You can't be serious
On that fade route. The ball hit him right in the hands. Is he not suppose to catch it?
Don't you have traffic to be playing in somewhere?
Despite the sack, nice pass blocking by Williams.
Fire Tom
Fire Quinn
Fire Ross
Quote:

You really need to put the Eli hate away, the ball hit him right where it should have, in his hands. At times i wonder if you even really watch the game
Serious question. Did the ball hit Jerrigans hands?
Ball hit him right in his hands, should have been caught
...1st and goal from the one and two high point fades???
Our skill people are fucking awful. No one can make a single fucking play.
What sucks is its only 4 fucking idiots who ruin it for everyone else
It wasn't a catch
freaking aggressive
second pass was inches from td
If you get stuffed, this game becomes one where you are totally demoralized
Yeah, that was real close.
Bring someone from the backfield to run towards the pylon.
What kinda play calling is this??
But nothing is easy.
14-6
Fade
Fade
Run
Fade
It worked tho!!
Nice TD. If it was Gilbride, we'd be running the ball on first down.
Pad Elis stats. Keep on going.
Now the defense needs to do something other than give up TDs.
Hey! It's the ebb & flow of a game thread baby!
Suck it up! ;-)
Quote:
Serious question: do you have a DVR?
Serious question. Did the ball hit Jerrigans hands?
Technically it probably grazed them to the same degree it grazed the DB's hands so... Victory is yours?
Eli has a TD pass, Offense has some momentum, and we are back in the game
Thats promise people. Just gotta convert the first time.
are you telling me there is a chance??
tToo early to lose faith, but damn has been ugly so far.
TC disciplined team that didn't kill itself with penalties or turnovers is what's kept us alive.
Looks like I picked the wrong season to stop sniffing glue.
Would you please take your dupe ass and go the fuck away
NEVER!
Now where is Randle?
Lions will get some action of course but we still have Eli.
I don't think it was the Lions keeping the drive alive or anything with being undisciplined or anything. They're 7-70 yards in penalties. I'm sure it wasn't thanks to our inerrent "movin-and-groovin" offense.
Quote:
One score game. Obviously the Giants have settled down a bit - hopefully everyone here on the board follows suit.
NEVER!
BLASPHEMY!!!
They are probably doubling him. They know he is our sole threat. Meanwhile, can someone tell me when that screen worked with anyone other than Nicks?
Beatty much worse.
Quote:
has been silent. Get him some!

Manningham
OL dominated.
RB Williams missed Tullah.
Richburg. Might've been the only one though.
lol. I hate fucking Giants fans.
If Beckham was healthy....
He seems destined to make the wrong decision on the field.
Holding on the kicking team? WTF is he holding for?
Where was he supposed to go with that there on that play?
Is he supposed to teleport the ball out instantly to a WR he simply wills to be open?
Meanwhile doesnt matter what Eli does if the O-line keeps leaking like a seive.I put that on reese that this line is this bad.JJ is hanging in there and is somehwat effective from what I see.
Nowwww it's time for JPP and the defensive line to hopefully fuckin show up to play football! Idk what in the actual hell they were doing the first quarter, but they need to cut it out.
Quote:
He needs to get rid of the ball quicker
lol. I hate fucking Giants fans.
To be fair, him saying that is about as fair as you saying Jernigan should have caught that pass.
Maybe we should pause the game, hand him the ball, and then press start.
You dont say? I thought every throw had to be on the numbers or else its a bad throw.

The one that hit his hands? I know how dare I hope for something like that.
DRC - stealing money.
No they aren't. Johnson is killing them and that's about it.
Devon Kennard (hamstring) is questionable to return.
secret strategy of giving them 3 then scoring 7 before the half and right after the half since we get the ball

Um, I have a degree from Ocean County College. I have quite the football knowledge, thank you very much.
Well when you're playing in a dome it is. Or at least should be
Yep. Might as well play tight and if they beat you for 25 yards for a first down so be it. Odds are really small that they would. But don't conceded yards as it is an auto field goal in a dome
Play tight and give up the big play (again) and roast Fewell for not playing loose.
Play loose and give them a FG over what could have been a TD earlier and he's an idiot.

But we did make it easy

((whistling with eyes rolled)) snicker, snicker...
Can't block for shit though!
gotta go.
...that sucks
RGIII has WRs. We dont.
...that sucks
I am going to keep saying it. I think we have a serious issue with our strength and conditioning program. We seem to be physically weaker than the guys we are lining up against. Beatty can be fat as long as he is also a strong mo-fo. He is getting blasted backwards.
Our OL is god awful.
Eli doesnt deserve this. This is 2013 again.

I agree. I think Eli is playing well considering he is getting owned by the 4 man rush every time he steps back. Cruz hasn't done much and RR is useless. It's actually JJ and the TE doing stuff. Some good runs by Jennings too.

You can keep saying it, it still wont make it anymore true or any less idiotic
on O the line sucks..Reese should be fired. ..
Mac will get heat and Eli...center is only
good guy we have
Eli could've stepped up the middle on the one he rolled away right and threw it out of bounds...I think he is EXTREMELY concerned about the pass rush on the inside.
No he hasnt. Beatty and Pugh get pushed back a lot.
I agree. He has one legit weapon in Cruz who by himself is ordinary. We need someone to step up. Really only candidates are Jennings and Randle. Jernigan is out of position outside.
Pleasantly surprised by Donnell.
Even Gruden of all people said it was shit.
Over Fewell.
Quote:
He has bailed on some clean pockets.

Not saying the OL is not bad, but watch the 2nd down play before the punt near the end of the half.
Both Mannings dropped back 22 times in the first half of their games.
Peyton was hit 0 times.
Eli was hit 12 times.
Even Gruden of all people said it was shit.
Over Fewell.
1st TD was on stevie Brown for leaving CF
Positives so far were donnell and run d. Eli has been fine, but he has no time to pass. The Oline has been terrible and so has the secondary. Reuben Randle is not a 1 in this league, not even close.

Totally agree. This defense looks solid. Stupid mistake on first TD and we're going against the best WR in the NFL. Run defense looks very solid!
Both Mannings dropped back 22 times in the first half of their games.
Peyton was hit 0 times.
Eli was hit 12 times.
I recognize the suck of the OL, with or without the figure, but has he really been hit 12 times already?
Link for the stat by chance?
WR's a joke
DL no sacks
The big question is will Eli survive.
Cruz is not getting all of the attention. Cruz is not getting open. Same problem as last year.
Our OL is god awful.
Eli doesnt deserve this. This is 2013 again.
JJ? He's the,only wideout making,plays
Rodgers-Cromartie stinks tonight
Playcalling on both sides of the ball definitely stinks tonight
But my main concern is about Cruz inability to get open or any separation. Lot of dough for a guy playing in the slot who can't get himself open.
WR's a joke
DL no sacks
The big question is will Eli survive.
Lol

Ill look for it, but I cant remember him being hit 12 times. He probably meant 12 hurries, which would sound somewhat more reasonable.
He is not being doubled every play. Just stop it. Just like he wasnt doubled every play last year.
OL must pick up this front four.
Does Eli have enough time? Doesn't seem like it!

I am going to keep saying it. I think we have a serious issue with our strength and conditioning program. We seem to be physically weaker than the guys we are lining up against. Beatty can be fat as long as he is also a strong mo-fo. He is getting blasted backwards.
You can keep saying it, it still wont make it anymore true or any less idiotic
Right... because Dan from WNY knows better.
Thats not getting overturned.
Great.
WOW...pathetic! This team is going 4-12 I bet
you can tell the most from the reaction of the player himself.
absurd.
What a god awful offense with very little talent.
nonsense call right there.
nose of ball is on ground.
whatever

Offensive line play play has more to do with leverage, positioning and technique than raw strength at this level. You seriously think the the O line stinks because they're physically weaker than other teams?
Yes, let's keep pointing the finger at the coaches!
-Jerry Reese
I hold Reese more accountable for what's gone wrong with this team, but something is going off the tracks from Coughlin on down somehow.
Maybe just scream the route to Donnel.. DONNELL run a hitch! Thanks!
Nice hold by the D.
c'mon oline and eli
get it together here.
The mistakes are going to add up if they don't block.
such an overrated player. He just looks good because we haven't had a decent LB since Jessie Armstead (sorry Pierce) ...Just a poor-man's Jared Mayo.
Come the fuck on, despite the Lions hot start, we're only down by 7? This is ridiculous. What a waste of an opportunities.
Make that 10. This offense looks worse than anything from the 2013 campaign. Sandy insurance commercial? Speaking of suckage.
The ball never touched the ground. The one angle they showed showed the bottom of the ball stayed on his arm the whole time.

again...how the fuck was that an INT???? any other team or QB, the refs blow it dead on the spot after they see all the bouncing....WHAT THE FUCK?
The second CJ TD was simply an awesome throw to an awesome receiver.
The offense is still learning. Some bad timing, some new players out there for Eli to click with.
This isn't the debacle you all are whining about.
Because it's the Giants and it just is!

LESS CRUZ?????
Is he even in the game?
The man hasn't been open since last year.
Good thing too, we eill be doing plenty of it.
Another three and out. There is nothing down field. Not even for twenty yards. Who is the deep threat on this team? JJ? Holy shit if that's true. Lack of talent and horrendous miscommunications equals a long season.
LOL, no he wasnt. the guy who tackled JJ was right there.
We need to stop making excuses for Victor, and just accept he is just an average WR.
Ha, great post.
Good point #3: NONE.
OL has sucked as predicted before the game.
WR Randle is only in uniform.
WR Cruz must be getting double teamed.
Can the defense get NY a turnover so we have a short field? Our only chance is to win the turnover battle and so far we are -1.
Hampton for 2
Brown incomplete pass
punt
just change the names and away you go
and mac needs to vo downfield
d has to get a TO
He's in against a 3rd string backup? Did Cruz fall off a cliff as well?
Have we totally lost the ability to evaluate talent? Seems to me we have had a really really hard time putting together a roster the last few years.I look at Reese more than anything else right now.Not TC, not ELI.
The scary thing is Detroit doesn't even seem to be playing it that way for the most part.
Cruz is getting taken out the same way he was against Dallas in the second game by Orlando Scandrick last year.

Cruz is not getting doubled. As Gruden pointed out.
That was not stevie browns fault. Calvin Johnson ran right up the hash wide open. He did his job.
Because Eli has 2 seconds to throw, while Stafford has 2 years
Great.
Our defense was overshadowed by the ineptness of our offense last year.
I'm laughing. This team...ugh.
it would be apropos
The second CJ TD was simply an awesome throw to an awesome receiver.

Yeah, what a bunch of morons. Another blown coverage.

I would hope every week regardless of outcome
STFU after making a routine play and get back in the huddle!
Teams will attack Brown all season. Achilles Heal.
The Lions have 3 good ones.
yeah he could have donated a bong to the locker room
But I digress.
Rolle has been playing ok. Defense is the least of our problems, but that tampa 2 really does suck ass. IMO it's an outdated scheme in today's league. The OL outside of Richburg has been horrifying.
And, Beatty SUCKS.
Pretty much says it all.
Agreed. Bad OL + one WR + immobile QB = long season.
Gilbride system
Macadoo system
Wuphat system
O-F-F-E-N-S-I-V-E LINE
FUCK THIS GAME
there you go..
This team will be lucky to win 5 games.
He had moved out of the way of that rush. No excuse for that throw
83 yards
55. Walton
Please. Every QB gets a rush. Not many would throw that idiotic pass
You eat that one then, you don't heave it into coverage Rex Grossman style. No excuse there.
He had moved pass the rush. No excuse for that throw
His decision making has actually regressed so horribly, it's not even up for debate. I think he needs a drill sergeant type of QB coach now again.
Reese brought in all new players. He can't coach them too
Wow.
will be better than last years 27
I'm not excusing his play, but I feel terrible for him, honestly.
Hopefully next year he can go to another team and find at least a couple more quality seasons left in him.
Inevitable. I'm not going to draw any conclusions until we see at least a few games, but this is a continuation of the preseason.
Our run D and Prince are good. Nothing else.
I'd bench Eli just to give him some time off from the turnstile that is our OL.
Laughable !
Quote:
Reese needs to be fucking crucified for this OL. 2 years in a row.

He brought in DIFFERENT players, not quality O linemen.
There's a bright side, right?
People forgetting that Beatty, Pugh, Walton, Jerry, JJ, Randle, and Donnell are fucking awful too?
When we have to ask our QB to scramble less than 2 seconds on a drop back, we show a real lack of knowledge for the game of football.
The coaching staff will have no choice but to bench him if things continue at that pace.
Not that Nassib would do any better with this group.
Sign me up for Mariota.
I don't think the offensive system was the problem last year.

All those guys combined don't make what Eli makes. Or close to it, for that matter.
Have to give credit to stafford, nice QB playing well.
In fairness, I think the Lions can be a playoiff team this year, but I still don't like the mental lack of focus and physical lack of intensity by the Giants.
it's effing pathetic Lions
Stan from LA : 5:36 pm : link : reply
Giants 10.
Not bad for a broken clock.
II fucking also hate this forum software. Can we fucking upgrade this out of the 90s.
He should be playing now.
At least he is capable of running for his life...

Ok than its ok for them to suck, abnd bring in guys who suck too.
I don't think the offensive system was the problem last year.
Gilbride is way too close to both Eli and Coughlin to be smiling about this.
He knows they're both the ones who are likely going to take the fall, while the one he clearly blames the most for the Giants failures (Reese) gets off free and easy.

You may not know Coughlin too well. The only way Nassib gets into the game is if Eli is injured or if we have a 28 point lead with 5 min remaining.
I did.
No Brainer
Winston
Lions are bigger, stronger, faster.
you got to be shittin me ! 3rd quarter
2) change a system that won 2 SBs and over 4k yards three times
I agree they needed a change, but such an extreme one? after proven success?
here's where it bites them
Lions are bigger, stronger, faster.
You forgot younger
I'm failing out of the IN REESE WE TRUST camp quickly.
Oh look, Victor cruz remember him?
And that's my game summary.
3-13 season
signed,
a pissed off Giant fan
right now he's the ONLY target. he will not be productive.
If this goes into week four, you have to consider pulling Eli. Not now, but then. If only for his own safety. But at that point, you'd have to put in the WRs Nassib is familiar with, including Washington.
Don't really think Detroit cares anymore. Easy win for them, and most teams this year I think.
Some teams know when a change is needed and others drag their feet and don't really address the issue.
Finally getting some rest .... Thank god
Lions have talent.
Giants dont.
Because we don't have the talent.
If they win more than 6 games Coughlin should be considered for coach of the year.
Have at it pollyana's.
Because its all his fault. I forgot.
You obviously have as issues if you can't see the difference in offensive talent on the two teams. Jerry Reese has destroyed this team and turned Eli into Archie.

+ Infinity.
Put in Washington and Parker.
and why can't the offensive players get on the same page?
More will be known on film day tomorrow.
So fucking overrated.
LOL, sure it was. Hitting him in both hands on the run, is a poor throw now.
Not a routine catch, but Cruz has to make that.
Is cruz done?
you also have to pick the right players. You simply have to make the most of your picks. The truth is that Reese has wiffed quite a bit.

your # 1 WR has both hands on it and drops it, its NOT on the QB.

That's an intelligent retort but exactly what I expect from a complete moron.
Wilson was an electric KR and did pretty well as a RB (although he struggled with his protection assignments).
If we had Wilson, if ODB were out there, and if we could use the money spent on Jennings elsewhere, this would be a completely different offense. Losing Wilson to injury really hurt us.
no worries. as i said earlier, since his rookie year, i can't think of less talent surrounding eli on offense than this year. it's sad to witness and the front office should be ashamed for allowing this side of the ball to deteriorate so badly.
A poor secondary covered up by a very strong front seven. The Giants haven't had any luck protecting the QB or on the short routes.
Gee, I fucking wonder.
With this OL, Marriotta.
I was not ok with his pick this year. Not that he went with a WR...but that he did not target a BIG Wr. One that creates matchup problems for the opponent.
You're angry and old, go to bed and sweet dreams.
Insurance. Can't give the reins to Williams just yet. Need a vet RB who can block, catch passes, be somewhat reliable.
Jerry came back in.
At least it'll be fun to watch.
other than the miscommunication in the 3rd quarter, Donnell has played very well.
99% of the QBs in the league look like dogshit when they get pressured.
Perry special.

It wasnt 3. It was 2 Kiwi, and Ayers went into coverage.
And once again, JW sucks against the run...
ahahahahaha
Calvin Johnson has been wide open all game.
It's over. Hate to be that guy but TD Likns, an Eli pick, end game 34-14
OH PLEASE. There's not one DB in this league that can cover CJ one on one. Stop it
It's been over since 7:15 EST
Me too, he's much better against the run than the pass
thank God. he should have retired 2 yrs ago.
1 sack, on a fall down.
0 turnovers.
Dont tell me the defense did anything well tonight.
This is a joke!
id consider it also
Anybody want tickets to opening day at Melifeless?
What a joke of a series this was. Had a chance to get the ball back to the offense. And got bitch slapped right down the field
After the offense had the ball for over a half hour. This defense sucks.
last year continued
2 point conversion - that's a nice cup of piss in your face
OMG this is going to be a long long long season!!!!!!
Defense was fucking putrid all game.
BINGO. I'm just glad Gruden destroyed it tonight on national television.
Way to go Jerry
The problem wasn't picking a WR. In case you haven't noticed, we ain't got nothing at WR either.
The problem is the WR isn't contributing right now at all, so they're basically going in with a terrible OL and terrible WRs/TEs. It's like signing up for inevitable failure.
D has been on the field double of what detroits has. Not surprised
The latter
Agreed but tell me why the other 15 will be different. Detroit aint exactly Seattle and they are humbling us
If Reese is in charge of the rebuild, no thanks.
When will we stop blaming everyone but Coughlin.
Dupe.
Sweet dreams everyone!
SMH, for a woman that joke was classless.
NASSIB
Why get Eli killed behind this disgusting line?
Your thread was deleted and you are soon to be banned - enjoy dupe.
Poor execution all the way around.
I'm not sure this team even wins 6 games this year!
Don't even want to listen to the press conference, who gives a shit what they have to say
best secondary in the league - comparing themseles to Seattle - ought to choke on those words.
Id 3 and out, get Stafford and Megatron back in the game and gun for their knees. Then shout youre welcome' to Caldwell from across the field.
... No pass rush...
...crappy oline play...
...stupid play by manning....
... Miscommunication....
... To much passing... Not enough running...
This is not much different thrn last year although the running backs looked good as the game wore on..
Washington or 82 now that game is over
This was difficult to watch.
The offense, well we will not scare anyone this year with this group.
Don't even want to listen to the press conference, who gives a shit what they have to say
best secondary in the league - comparing themseles to Seattle - ought to choke on those words.
That's my point. It is easy to blame Reese but there is some funky shit going on here with everybody.
OTOH, this is only game 1. The offense is a WIP. But now the Defense needs to be fixed too. No pass rush when we need it. Decent against the run, but Stafford has torn us apart all game.
he played , he missed the sack on the first TD
Everyone was impressed with how we ran the ball in preseason....I asked if they could run when they had to...they can't ....
"We just did not execute"
"We have to get better"
when he could pay far less for the same quality. As far
as I am concerned, many heads should roll from top to
bottom.
They spend desperately in the offseason to patch
a hole and it is actually sinking faster. Poor drafting and talent development will haunt this team for years...
The team didn't quit.
They tried their ass off, but just sucked in many and various ways.
Stafford made him look like a fool when he faked him out and threw the bomb to C Johnson for the 1st TD.
If you think this is just one game, then you haven't watched the giants since the Steelers game in 2012. This is not one game.
well, the score needed to "look" right.
Good. Quit. Don't come back. Don't ever post here again. Bye.
Go ask the owner how he feels about another embarrassment.
I said it in the first quarter - this Detroit team is playing really really well. This game has not been all about the Giants ineptness. I think the Lions are legitimate this year.
Quote:
Based on this game should be kicked off as well.

Every single season is unique unto itself and if you don't get that you didn't watch either of the two Bowl runs. This is game one and not the defining moment of the season. We may well suck but we don't suck yet.
I believe the former... randal sucks and cruz is doubled.
no beckham = no offense
running game promising however.

I have been saying this for a long time.....the deal with You-Know-Who, to win that last SB.....
Everybody is just going to bullrush the hell out of our OL. Hassle Eli, shut down Cruz, and stop the run, and you win. It's an easy formula to devise and implement.
Beckham should have been here.

Everybody is just going to bullrush the hell out of our OL. Hassle Eli, shut down Cruz, and stop the run, and you win. It's an easy formula to devise and implement.
Right, it's not that difficult to see. Stop the run, force errors and run the ball down their throats.
I'd be shocked if 10 teams had a worse year than this Giants team. Literally stunned
didnt throw to 88 or 82 being behind all game...
fewell needs to pressure qb ...
bad coaching....was really diappointed
with D
Fewell - you have more talent than you've had in some time - this is the product you deliver?

on Sundays. This is going to be worse than last season. We will win enough to be out of the top 10 but never be in the hunt for the playoffs.

You may be right. Last year was sad and I cant see anything positive.
Let's see how it goes next week.
eli must be avoiding 82...saw
Him open few times...no Washington. .
If Tate was here it would be the same BS. Tripping over his feet, running wrong routes, etc. Save the talent excuse BS. Enough speech making time for development.
Holy fuck. Holy fucking fuck. This one takes the cake. You stupid FUCK.
WE won't win games if we have to score
21+ points....doing 10 yard throws
I thought the end around was innovative & would have worked if Beatty could have contained his man.
